London Fashion Week showcasing the Spring Summer 2016 trends started on Friday 18 September, and this season has been spectacular so far! New York Fashion Week was star studded but London lived up to what happened in America the previous week and then added an extra edge.
You have to look at London Fashion Week in two ways – what the models are wearing on the catwalk shows what we’ll all be wearing in 2016, and what the celebs are wearing on the Front Row (FROW) gives us inspiration about what to wear now! I think we should look at the celebrity fashion to start as that’s more immediate. I noticed five particularly inspiring looks:
(1) Fur Wraps
Faux fur is having a real comeback as we get into Autumn and the party season. It’s easy to see why as a faux fur jacket adds a touch of luxury to any outfit. Daisy Lowe, photographed with Poppy Delevingne looks both comfortable and stylish in her fur while Suki Waterhouse oozes old school Hollywood glamour.
(2) Tailoring – Fitted Jumpsuits And Suits
I did notice a lot of celebrities wearing trousers or trouser suits, giving a fierce edge to fashion. It’s ideal weather for trousers and Alexa Chung made her blue jumpsuit look more feminine with a belted waist. It’s also the cinched in waist on Laura Whitmore’s black jacket that takes it from adrogynous to power dressing.
Meanwhile Ellie Goulding showed that the right co-ordinates can really make a statement and she looked effortlessly cool – I like her attitude!
(3) Classic Little Black Dress
Lotte Moss really stood out wearing a black dress and black ankle boots and you could immediately tell that she was Kate Moss’s younger sister. If a black dress fits you well, and your hair and make-up’s gone according to plan, then black gives off the impression of being gorgeous without trying too hard. Sometimes less really is more, as long as you pick the perfect black dress for your shape – choose carefully.
(4) Leather Jackets – Rock Star Chic!
Lindsay Lohan knows how to make a statement! Fashion surely should be about expressing yourself and if you want to wear silver studs over a silver dress then do it! FKA Twigs worked the look in a classic leather jacket – she seems to be enjoying dipping in and out of fashion since raising her profile when she became engaged to Twilight actor Robert Pattinson.
(5) Black Lace Dress
This black lace dress worn by Prince Harry’s on-off girlfriend Cressida Bonas looked striking against the back drop of a white catwalk. I like it because it’s knee length but the lace has a flirty edge. Maybe even Harry’s Grandmother, The Queen, would approve – what do you think? I love her gorgeous high heels.
What look did you like the most? Personally, I can’t wait for more faux fur!
