#VeryAutumnEdit Off Beat

The revisit to the seventies swooped us right off our heels (or rather, platforms!) last season, and we’re completely falling for autumn’s throwback vibe.

#OffBeat is an eclectic mix of the sixties meets seventies, adding retro charm into our casual closet. Amp up the vintage appeal with those iconic pieces – denim shifts, A-line skirts and over-the knee boots. We’re in LOVE!!! <3

Look 1: A-Line Skirt + OTK Boots

One of our favourite looks here at Very HQ, there’s something simple yet super feminine and flirty about tucking a ribbed turtle neck into an A-line skirt.

This sultry leopard print skirt nods to the sixties beatniks, while teamed with those killer OTK boots, the outfit brings a haute hippie twist, a look that boho-lovers Kate Moss and Nicole Richie would be proud of. Pare back this statement style with a fitted knit top for a cosy and casual finish.

Look 2: Denim Shift + Ribbed Roll Neck

Demonstrating how to make a denim shift dress look grown-up and chic, the seventies were all about layering ribbed roll necks underneath.

This dress nails the trend with ring zip-up fronts, pocket details and mid-wash denim, while the jumper is inspired by the era’s love for dark, rich and deep wine shades. We’ll be wearing ours over black tights and finished with a platform wooden heeled boot for a subtle daytime interpretation of the disco decade.

Look 3: Mongolian Suede Coat + Lace-Up Tunic

Taking style notes from the glamorous girls in the 2013 blockbuster, American Hustle – Amy Adams portrayal of Sydney Prosser and J-Law as Rosalyn Rosenfeld – with their fabulous fur pieces, this luxe real suede coat lifts any casual look.

The chic seventies loved a rich tan hue teamed with shaggy mongolian faux fur and a ladylike, longer length and this gorgeous cover-up ticks all the fashion boxes. Wear it over a floaty bell sleeve frock with this season’s hottest detail, the lace-up neckline, for a folky edge à la Blake Lively’s bohemian style. We can’t get enough of this dreamy romantic tunic by South.

Here’s some inspo from the celebs rocking the trend…
