Empire Film Awards 2016: Best Dressed

Just when The Oscars seem like a distant memory, The Empire Film Awards took place in London and the stars made just as much effort with their outfits! The Empire Awards are a really prestigious Awards ceremony as they’re voted for by Empire magazine readers.

The most awards went to the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens with its stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega winning individual  prizes for Best Actress Newcomer and Best Actor Newcomer, director JJ Abrahams winning Best Director and the film winning Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy.  But there was more diversity when it came to fashion with celebs wearing  trouser suits as well as chic black dresses.

Here are the best outfits in close-up:

Daisy Ridley

Daisy sparkled on the red carpet in a sequin dress. It hugged her figure perfectly and she looked really comfortable in it. The awards started at 6pm and Daisy was still partying after midnight so she could clearly party in it. Sequins always look good on the dancefloor too!

Laura Carmichael

The Downton Abbey actress opted for something a little different – a black midi dress with mesh. When someone wears a midi dress while everyone else’s in maxis, they really stand out.

Olympia Valance

Neighbours actress Olympia looked incredible in a black maxi dress. She’s the younger sister of former Neighbours actress turned singer Holly Valance and she’s clearly watched and learned from her sister the best tips to look glam on the red carpet. I like how the top half is figure hugging and it flows out to a full skirt as this is so flattering and makes her waist look tiny.

Maisie Williams

The Game Of Thrones actress stood out in a colourful mini dress. If you don’t feel comfortable in a maxi dress, then  Maisie shows a mini dress can look smart. Notice that it has a high neck so she follows the rule of showing off her legs or her cleavage but not both.

Emily Atack

Emily walked the red carpet with attitude in her black trouser suit. She may have starred in The InBewteeners, but there’s nothing InBetween about her any more – she’s fully grown up and looks fabulous with it. Wearing trousers would make anyone strut down the red carpet as it takes away all fears of a wardrobe malfunction.

Hannah Murray

The Game of Thrones actress also opted for a suit, but hers was embellished. I loved how her blue trousers turned different colours as the camera flashbulbs picked them up. Because they’re skinny fit, she was able to move in them easily – way into the night on the dancefloor. That’s the way it should be!

Who do you think looked best?
