We’ve already had Coachella in the US, but now festival season has started in the UK with Radio 1’s Big Weekend over the bank holiday. The Isle Of Wight festival is just a couple of weeks away and Glastonbury is at the end of the month. What’s a girl to wear?
Thankfully there were lots of female singers at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and I always think it’s useful to see what the stars are wearing when we’re thinking about our own packing. They are experienced at festival-going so they know what’s practical and what’s not but they still want to look good – just like us. We want to keep warm and dry but we don’t want to look boring!
So let’s have a close look at what the celebs wore to Radio 1’s Big Weekend:
Shorts are always great for festivals as you stay cool in warmer weather and you can just wipe your legs clean if it rains. Nobody wants soggy trousers sticking to them in the rain. Ellie’s Dr Marten boots add some attitude to the look and means she can still run – and jump – around the stage. Boots are a must if you want to enjoy the festival from the front of the audience and get involved in some dancing.
Meghan shows you can still be feminine at a festival. Her black bodycon dress looks amazing and it fits like a second skin, showing off her gorgeous curves. I like how she also wears ankle boots but hers have a little heel. As long as you wear a block heel and not a pencil heel, why not add a bit of height to make you walk with more confidence through the festival site.
Paloma takes feminine to another level in a black mini dress and black boots. It’s a look that you can wear if you’re going to a festival for the day rather than camping over or a look you could wear on the first day. What do you think?
Look closely and you’ll see Iggy is wearing shorts with a long t-shirt. This would be good for the day and you could add a blazer or a waterproof if the weather took a turn for the worse. What makes it look more glam than simply shorts and a t-shirt is the boots. If you have good footwear, you always look more glamorous.
I love Jess’s outfit as she looks like the ultimate rock chick in her black skinny jeans and black ankle boots. Notice that the black boots have a chunky heel so that she stays comfortable. Black can be an ideal colour to wear to a festival if there’s a chance of bad weather as it means the mud won’t show!
