I love an awards ceremony as it gets lots of celebrities in one place and then we can really get a good look at some fabulous party outfits! At the Teen Choice awards in LA there was a great mix of stars – actresses, singers and models. The awards honour the biggest stars in music, movies, TV and fashion with the unique feature being that they were chosen by teen voters.
The winners are clearly in touch with what’s popular and fashionable right now as teen viewers are hard to please. And to appeal to the voters, all the celebs made an effort with their outfits and many seemed to be very imaginative. Rather than wearing maxi dresses, they experimented with maxi skirts, trousers and jumpsuits. They had to put more thought into these outfits and it was inspirational as it showed that you can look beyond a traditional maxi dress for a red carpet look.
If you’re not a dress person, you may be inspired by these super cool Teen Choice Awards outfits:
Lea looked gorgeous in a monochrome maxi skirt, which had a boho vibe to it. Black and white always stands out and even more so if it’s on a skirt rather than on a dress. Wearing a crop top and high waisted skirt draw attention to the slimmest part of the waist to create a stunning hourglass shape.
The Fast and the Furious actress had tons of attitude in a trouser suit. The bow at the neck adds a quirky edge while the black heels give a girly twist. When wearing a trouser suit, it’s all about the accessories to personalise the look. It allows you to really express your personality with your entrance and throughout the night. There are no restrictions when wearing a trouser suit – if you want to stand on your head on the dancefloor then you can!
The Orange is the New Black actress looked sensational in a long sleeve black jumpsuit. The belts at the waist highlight her slim waist and black is a really flattering colour. I like this look because Lauren looks edgy but also feminine. What do you think?
What do you prefer – the maxi skirt look or a style with smart trousers? It’s so refreshing to see alternatives to maxi dresses at an awards ceremony!
