Awards season is starting earlier this year! The Critic’s Choice Awards usually takes place in mid-January but this year it’s in mid-December, which means we can expect almost 3 months of fabulous dresses and A’list stars attending awards dos, Until The Oscars on 26 February, there are awards after awards. Bring on the gowns!
The Critic’s Choice awards honour the best TV shows and film from 2016 and the winners are listed at the end of this blog post if you want recommendations of some entertainment to watch in your time off this Christmas. First, let’s have a look at the divine dresses and take some inspiration about what we can wear to a formal party or a fancy New Year’s Eve event.
Emma looked stunning in a black maxi dress with cut out detail. The fabric of the top half and the halterneck detail makes her look party ready while the full skirt is formal. Therefore it fits two occasions – you can party in it and go to a formal dinner in it while looking glamorous and gorgeous the whole time. What do you think?
Nicole also wore a cutout black dress that flattered her long, lean figure. The tight waist detail highlights her slimmest part and then creates the impression of more curves as it emphasises her hips. The bardot neckline is also on trend.
The British actress and star of the Bond films wowed in a strapless black maxi dress that showed off her slender shoulders. A strapless dress is a great way to show off a hint of skin, mesmerising everyone that looks at you. Never underappreciate the appeal of a strapless dress!
Kate went for full length and fabulous with her black short sleeve maxi dress embellished with sequins. It’s bold and it’s daring and with that hand on her hip attitude she totally pulls it off. What do you think?
There weren’t many celebs wearing anything other than black so Amy really stood out! She stood out for the right reasons as the white dress hugged her figure before snaking out into a wider skirt. Again, there is a bardot neckline – a lot of stars are wearing that right now.
Jessica had a boho chic vibe going on with her green maxi dress and her wavy hair with its long fringe (or bangs as the Americans call them). If you’re a bit of a hippy chick, this is a great way to stay true to yourself at an awards ceremony. Green dresses really uplift anyone’s skin tone as well, giving you a rich, warm glow.
The star of America’s hottest new TV show Scandal made sure everyone noticed her as she decided to wear a black lace midi dress instead of a maxi dress. Scandal is making everyone gripped and Kerry’s impressed everyone with her acting so now it’s time to show off her fashion sense. If you don’t want to wear a maxi dress to a formal occasion then you don’t have to. Just wear a midi dress like Kerry with confidence and you’ll make everyone wish they did the same.
Who do you think looked like the fashion winner of the night?
