Best Dressed: Marie Claire Magazine’s Image Awards

Marie Claire magazine hosted it’s second ever awards ceremony to honour the people that help make the stars gorgeous and grateful celebs turned up to present awards to their glam squad!

The magazine realises that a whole team of stylists, hair stylists and make-up artists are behind one red carpet ready celebrity and why shouldn’t those individuals deserve recognition for their work? The stars know that they wouldn’t look their best without their team and so they are happy to give back at the awards ceremony. And as they walked the red carpet at the start of the night, they showed off the work that their ‘image makers’ had done. Many wore black outfits to make their hair and make-up stand out more, with the notable exception of Kylie Jenner who was honouring Balmain creative director Oliver Rousteing. She certainly picked one of Balmain’s most spectacular outfits to shine a spotlight on Rousteing’s design skills.

Let’s have a closer look at what the stars wore to look good without taking attention away from their team of beauty helpers. It’s great inspiration if we want to look sophisticated and pretty without making it seem as if we’ve tried too hard:

Jessica Alba

Jessica looked chic and stylish with bootcut trousers and a smart black blazer with a black clutch bag. Her hair is smooth and sleek and her make-up is bronzed with a light brown smokey eye. Nothing is attention-grabbing in its own right but the whole look is perfectly put together. She’s thought about every detail of her look and that’s why she looks gorgeous.

Kylie Jenner

The youngest member of the Kardashian / Jenner clan takes big risks when it comes to fashion. Somehow she gets away with this purple maxi dress as she wears it with attitude. Look at her pout and slightly raised eyebrow, challenging us to question her! Notice that she keeps her make-up simple with a nude lip and tousled hair rather than an up-do. This makes the dress get all the attention that it deserves.

Cindy Crawford

She was one of the first original supermodels and Cindy Crawford still has it in a long sleeve black maxi dress. The bodycon shape shows off her lovely hourglass shape and the mesh detail at the sides of the skirt help with the body contouring, giving anyone who wears it a long, sleek silhouette. Barely-there sandals take the look to another level, literally!

Pati Dubroff and Margot Robbie

Pati is one of Hollywood’s most respected make-up artists and Margot is one of Hollywood’s up and coming stars so it was only natural that Margot should present the award. As Margot is so beautiful, it’s hard for her not to upstage Pati but she does it while looking lovely in a black faux-leather dress. What do you think?

Shay Mitchell

The Pretty Little Liars actress showed just how fabulous a black jumpsuit can look. With it’s one shoulder style and cut-out detail, this has more to look at than most dress. She looks strong and fierce in this jumpsuit, she’s going places in Hollywood.

Elizabeth Olsen

The Captain America actress was one of the few stars to wear colour, but she knows what suits her and she wore it well. Elizabeth, like her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, has always had a quirky, unique style and dresses different from everyone else and she looked lovely in the pink dress. She made other stars very jealous!

Who do you think was the best dressed? It shows you don’t have to wear something bold and attention-grabbing to look gorgeous.
