Very Spring Summer 2016 Fashion Preview

Dreaming of the sunshine? Me too after attending the Very Spring / Summer 2016 press preview event!

Gorgeous soft fabrics, cool fringe detail and ultra pretty prints were key for the new collections, but let’s have a closer look at some of the best bits so you know what to look for and can snap up your favourite outfits before anyone else. It’s all about being first when it comes to fashion – someone asking you where you got something is the ultimate compliment!

Pastels and Suede

This was the first thing that I saw as I entered the room and it cheered me up straight away. It looks like Spring / Summer will be the time to indulge your feminine side with light fabrics, pretty florals and pastel colours to feel all pretty and girly. I particularly liked the maxi with a big split that is the ultimate cover up for a bikini on a spring break.

Summer Party Prints

Bold is back! When the sun is out it should be celebrated and I loved the party outfits that are fresh, floral and bright. The printed trouser suit was styled so well with a clashing print blouse – matchy matchy is so over.

Summer Paisley Prints

There were just so many eye-catching clothes! I loved the embellished box jacket, which would see you through the whole season with jeans or skinny trousers and the maxi dresses are guaranteed to attract attention and would look lovely with tanned summer skin.

Suede Fringe Dress

In every collection, there are some outfits that you like more than anything else and this suede dress was one of them. It’s a really flattering shift dress shape but the fabric and fringe detail make it look so expensive. The pale pink colour will make you appear more tanned than you are, which is always a bonus.

Suede Fringe Jacket

This jacket is in the V by Very collection and I can guarantee I am going to get one as soon as it’s in next year. I’ve seen similar ones on the designer catwalks during London fashion week, styled with simple dresses or even jeans and a white blouse. It’s so versatile and it will be the talking point of any outfit. What do you think?

Summer Sandals

Shoes are always the finishing touch to a look and this season there are some stunning ones. You’ll have happy feet in these gorgeous cut out and lace up styles. I’m liking the pink cut out sandals, which I can match to my nail polish but the blue shoes are pretty fabulous too, aren’t they?

Red Suede Dresses

These dresses caught my eye as the dark red colour was gorgeous and then I saw the material and fell in love. I like the colour block detail on the shirt dress as I haven’t seen a dip dyed dress like this before – it’s very original. As for the fringe dress, imagine dancing in that with the fringe swinging as you move.

Pleated Party Dress

I noticed this dress as it’s so elegant and chic. Again, this is all about getting in touch with your girly side and it would look lovely with nude or black stilletos at a summer wedding or party.

What’s your favourite look from the selection above? Spring will come before we know it so it’s good to be prepared.

Awards Ball Fashion: Bambi And Battersea Dogs and Cats Galas

One of the good things about it getting dark earlier in Winter is that it means there is more time to party. December is fast approaching, which means work and social Christmas parties and catching up with friends that we might not have seen for ages. So it’s important to look fabulous so we can have some lovely pictures to remind us of the festive season. Photos last forever after all!

I think there can be quite a lot of pressure at this time of year to get things perfect, but we don’t have to let it get us down as there are some simple ways to get inspiration. For example, we can look at how the celebrities have got it right with their party outfits and use it as inspiration. Fortunately there have been a couple of formal events this week so here’s a closer look at what happened at the events and what the celebs wore to dazzle:

BAMBI Awards

This is Germany’s biggest award ceremony and attracts A’list stars from around the world. Awards are given to excellent film, music and TV stars and the dress code is as glamorous as The Oscars.

Rita Ora

Rita won the award for Best International Music star and I think she also wins the award for best dressed. Her grey maxi dress is just fabulous! The train may get awkward in real life, but grey is ideal for a Christmas party as you stand out but it’s still a soft colour.

Heidi Klum

Heidi won Best Model and showed off her elegance and stage presence in a purple strapless maxi dress. Purple is the colour of royalty and she acted like a princess on stage, accepting her trophy. The strapless cut is very flattering. Gorgeous!

Hilary Swank

Hilary also picked up an award, getting honoured for her acting. She looks so pretty in this black and silver long sleeve maxi dress. It’s simple and flattering to her figure and she keeps the look simple with a side bun. Sometimes it’s best if you keep it simple – it makes me want a long sleeve maxi dress, that’s for sure.

Battersea Dogs Home Collars and Coats Ball

This is the annual fundraiser for Battersea Dogs Home so the stars turn up and really make an effort to support the animals. Each year it raises £100,000 for vulnerable animals and the celebs donate things to auction.

Leigh Anne Pinnock

Little Mix’s Leigh Anne Pinnock and her boyfriend Jordan Kiffin are back together and they adopted a cute little pup for the night. I don’t know what was cuter – the fluffy dog or Leigh Anne’s outfit with her co-ordinate set.

Camilla Kerslake

Camilla’s the girlfriend of England rugby captain Chris Robshaw so she’s had a tough month since England were knocked out of the world cup early, but now she’s dazzling again in a yellow dress. Sometimes the best way to cheer yourself up is to wear something bright and fabulous. Not many people wear yellow to a Christmas party so this is a good outfit if you want to make an impression.

Who do you think looked the best? I have to say Rita Ora looked incredible. A maxi dress is perfect for cold weather and it always looks like you’ve made an effort in a maxi.

Little Mix’s Week Long Album Launch Party

Little Mix are either very proud of their third album Get Weird or they’re looking for an excuse to let their hair down and party as they’ve had a lot of celebrations to toast their new release. I like their style – why have just one party when there’s seven nights of the week?

So far, they’ve had three major nights out this week with the Radio 1 Teen Awards, an official fan meet and greet at Tape London bar and a ski-themed party at Bodo’s Schloss nightclub in London. Each night required a different look but the girls each know what suits them. Jesy usually sticks to black while Jade loves a plunging V-neck. Let’s have a closer look at each event:

Radio 1 Teen Awards

The girls’ week started on Sunday when they were the star names at the Radio 1 TeenAwards. They changed outfits to perform and all put on sequins, but as they walked the red carpet they showed there are a lot of ways to look glam in black. My favourites were Perrie’s black lace dress and Leigh Anne’s high waisted trousers with a crop top but Jesy wears her blazer with attitude doesn’t she? As they’re wearing black, they’ve gone to a lot of effort with their hair and make-up, opting for bright colours so they don’t look washed out. That’s one of the tricks to glamming up black.

Tape London gig

The girls went for some colour at this gig, which was spectacularly lit with neon lights spelling out their names and neon signs of musical instruments and hearts. You almost needed sunglasses to watch! While Perrie may look like she’s dressed down in this photo, she’s wearing leather leggings and I always think leather and knitwear goes so well together. I liked Jade’s red rollneck top as rollnecks are so on trend for this Winter.

After the gig, the girls took photos with all their fans and stopped to sign autographs, showing they appreciated the public who buy the album that will hopefully make number one. Then they went back to their hotel for drinks after the work was done – it had been a long day for them which started at 6am with an apperance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

Bodo’s Schloss nightclub party

This ski-themed party was a lot of fun with a chocolate fondue, in which the girls dipped marshmallows and strawberries. There were alpine bell ringers and waitresses wearing Austrian themed  outfits. As the name of their album is called Get Weird, the theme was definitely a tiny bit weird as well as being fun.

But the girls themselves didn’t look weird in their party outfits. Jesy picked another black blazer while Perrie went for a classic black jumpsuit and Leigh-Anne tried a black skirt and black blouse as she’s usually the most feminine of the group. Personally I liked Jade’s white jumpsuit the most as white always stands out when everyone else is in black. What do you think?

What’s your favourite look of the week? These girls won the X Factor in 2011 and they still have the X Factor when it comes to fashion,

Celebrity Style Steal: Kendall Jenner turns 20

Happy Birthday to Kendall Jenner! It’s hard to believe the most high fashion member of the Kardashian clan is just 20 as she’s achieved so much modelling for top designers and doing fashion weeks around the world. She celebrated her birthday with a big party in LA, where she wore what seems to be her favourite colour – black.

A few days before that she also wore an all black outfit to a basketball game, but I especially like that look as she added some leopard print shoes. Her clutch bag was also a nice touch and it shows that when you wear black your accessories really stand out. Kendall’s simple but stylish outfit could work for day or night if she swaps her bomber jacket for a blazer afterwards, so it’s both practical and on trend. I’d copy it with the Definitions slim leg tux trousers, as the ankle length is super flattering and lengthens legs. The South short padded coat is a nice way of wrapping up warm, which is so important at this time of year. For accessories, her shoes are almost exactly the same as the So Fabulous Madeline point court shoes and the River Island frame pu clutch bag is the final piece of glamour to the look.

Kendall’s also wearing a crop top and flashing a bit of flesh always breaks up an all black look. I like the Supertrash tarab cropped top from Very as it’s an interesting shape and only shows a hint of skin as we can’t all have rock hard abs like Kendall.

What do you think of Kendall Jenner’s style?

Harpers Bazaar Women Of The Year: Winners And Fashion

I love an awards ceremony and there was something truly special about the Harper’s Bazaar Women of The Year awards as it was all about fabulous, strong and successful women. As it was held in London’s five star Claridge’s Hotel, the dress code was ‘glamorous’ and guests all met for a Champagne reception followed by a three course meal. Who said stars don’t know how to let their hair down?

It was great to see so many A’list actresses support each other and it was the perfect timing for this event. Now it’s pre-Christmas party season we can look at what the celebs wore and remember it when we’re dressing for our own parties. Let’s have a look at what everyone wore and then afterwards, I’ll list who won awards.

Sienna Miller

Sienna has attended a lot of red carpet events recently as she’s promoting her movie Burnt, but she still hasn’t run out of ways to dazzle as she shone in a grey maxi dress. I don’t see this colour worn much on the red carpet, but I think we may see it more soon as it’s flattering without being OTT. Understated glamour.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole who is in London starring in the West End in Photograph 51 took a risk with an embellished black maxi dress but she pulled it off as she knows what suits her. I’ve seen her dress like this before and it suits her because she’s tall and she has more length on the dress to play with. If you’re not one for taking risks, I think try it and the worse that can happen is you look in the mirror and decide it’s not for you after all but if you get it right you get tons of compliments as you’ll look so different.

Lara Stone

I do love a jumpsuit and Lara shows why it’s a classic piece that gives off the impression that the wearer is brave and effortlessly cool. Lara looks absolutely fierce in this black jumpsuit.

Ellie Goulding

Ellie looked incredible in a white maxi dress, showing that white really does attract attention – in a good way. Her hair seems less shocking than at the MTV awards too. This is a simple and classic look so she wants to keep her hair and make-up smooth and sleek.

Kate Winslet

Kate played it classic in a monochrome midi bodycon dress. I think this is a good day to night dress, if you had to go from the office to an event. What makes it suitable for night is the killer heels. How sharp are Kate’s black stilletoes?

Lily James

Lace is so on trend this season and Lily showed how lovely and feminine a lace maxi dress can make us look. Lily’s had a great year since Cinderella and has tons of films planned for 2016 so we should be seeing a lot more of her. I’m glad as I love her girly style that is feminine but still seriously fashionable.

And the winners are:

Breakthrough: Lily James

British Icon: Kate Winslet

Television Icon: Michelle Dockery

Musician: Ellie Goulding

Theatre Icon: Nicole Kidman

British Actress: Sienna Miller

Breakthrough Designer: Mary Katzantrou

Model: Lara Stone

Man of The Year: Erdem

Who do you think had the best outfit? Personally, I like Lara Stone’s jumpsuit.

Monochrome Chic As Celebs Party With Chanel

The history of fashion is starting to be explored by the UK’s art galleries and museums and now it’s taking off even more as there’s an exhibition dedicated to Chanel in London’s Saatchi Gallery. It’s open to everyone so we can all pop in and browse at some beautiful pieces and get some inspiration from the iconic designs. But on the first night, celebrity Chanel fans had the place to themselves.

At this party, lace and monochrome were the trends that everyone went for. It was interesting to see that there was nothing but black or white so it was super dramatic. Let’s have a look in more detail:

Rita Ora

Rita loved the exhibition so much that she actually went twice – in the afternoon and at night. The feather skirt was show stopping but I really liked the lace jumpsuit as it’s so wearable. Rita really has the X Factor when it comes to fashion. She wears everything with attitude!

Lily Collins

The actress channeled classic style with cropped black trousers and white heels. Lily’s working on a new movie project with Warren Beatty, which is another step up from her last role in Love, Rosie. It’s great to see a British girl doing well in Hollywood and Lily certainly brings some added glamour.

Lily Rose Depp

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis’ daughter has clearly inherited her parents model good looks with her own sense of style. While Johnny may be a Pirate, his daughter is more of a Princess. The combination of a girly party dress and a black blazer looks stunning.

Lily Allen

Lily Allen’s been off the party scene for a while to concentrate on being a mum to her two daughters, but she’s as glam as ever. I really liked her lace maxi skirt. Lily’s back in the studio working on a new album so be prepared to see a lot more of her.

Cara Delevingne

Cara doesn’t often wear dresses as jumpsuits her more her thing, but for Chanel she made an effort with her lace dress. She also showed off a lip piercing because Cara could never be 100% sweet and innocent and we wouldn’t want her to be. Cara’s happy and settled in a relationship with American singer St Vincent and splits her time between London, New York and LA.

Which look did you like best? It’s interesting that none of these looks are particularly revealing but the stars are able to make an impact through the monochrome colour and lace texture.

Top 5 London Film Festival Looks

The London Film Festival has shown the British film industry can hold it’s own against Hollywood. Every day and every night since 7 October there have been premieres and parties and during that time some films have earned rave reviews.

Each film premiere normally comes with a party and with the actors and actresses dressed to kill on the red carpet. It’s all been super glamorous but here are the Top 5 premiere outfits that we can all take inspiration from now that the Christmas party season is approaching. It’s important to dazzle at that Christmas party, isn’t it?

(1) Sienna Miller at The High Rise film premiere

attends the High-Rise Screening, during the BFI London Film Festival, at Odeon Leicester Square on October 9, 2015 in London, England.

Sienna Miller has dyed her hair back to blonde (from red) and a white dress really showed off her new lighter complexion. I though she looked really angelic and a white dress really does light up a dark night.

(2) Sophie Cumberbatch at Black Mass premiere

attends the "Black Mass" Virgin Atlantic Gala screening during the BFI London Film Festival, at Odeon Leicester Square on October 11, 2015 in London, England.

Not many women could upstage Benedict Cumberbatch but dressed like this, Sophie looks like the movie star and Benedict her plus one. Like Sienna, Sophie’s found that a white dress really stands out and I like the embellishment on the top half of her maxi dress.  With the perfect colour, you don’t need to flash any flesh to stand out.

(3) Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett at Carol premiere

attends the "Carol" America Express Gala during the BFI London Film Festival, at the Odeon Leicester Square on October 14, 2015 in London, England.

Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett showed off completely different styles with Rooney opting for floaty and feminine and Cate going for monochrome tailoring. Do you prefer Rooney’s cream maxi dress or Cate’s long sleeve maxi dress? The black and white long sleeve maxi does look practical for Winter nights and would suit dinner parties, but the cream dress is more of a party dress.

(4) Amber Heard at Black Mass premiere

attends the "Black Mass" Virgin Atlantic Gala screening during the BFI London Film Festival, at Odeon Leicester Square on October 11, 2015 in London, England.

How gorgeous is this hot Hollywood couple? Amber looks sensational in her black bodycon dress. It’s suitable for the red carpet and perfect for after-parties as it fits her perfectly. Every girl needs a LBD in her party wardrobe, I think.

(5) Paloma Faith and Rachel Weisz at Youth premiere

Paloma is another fab example of why you need an LBD. She looks super sophisticated in her black midi dress. However, it’ Rachel Weisz who grabs the attention in her strapless maxi dress. It was Rachel’s second premiere in two days – she’s one in demand actress.

Who do you think looked best?

Fierce Female Fashion At Suffragette Film Premiere

The London Film Festival has now started and it all kicked off with a female focused film – Suffragette. Girl power!

Carey Mulligan stars in the film focusing on the movement that won women the right to vote and she’s been working hard to promote it with several red carpet appearances a day. She loves floaty dresses and outfits that enhance her femininity showing you can be strong and still be womanly.

Here are some of the best looks from the opening day of Suffragette:

Carey Mulligan at the BFI film screening

I think Carey could have got away with this outfit to both events – it’s the ultimate day to night outfit. Co-ordinates are great for party season and so are metallics and Carey cleverly combines both with long sleeves for extra Winter warmth!

Carey Mulligan at the Leicester Square screening

Again Carey got it spot on as lace dresses are so on trend! I think she wears it well with confidence, even though it’s a matter of weeks since she gave birth to her first baby. Now that’s the definition of a strong, determined lady!

Helena Bonham Carter at the Leicester Square screening

Helena looks lovely in her black midi dress, which reminded me of the midi dresses all the stars wore to The WellChild Awards. Her black heels are super high and fierce too, very similar to the Shoe Box Miami point black shoes at Very.

Anne Marie Duff with husband James McAvoy at the Leicester square screening

A black maxi dress is always classic  but Anne Marie gives it an extra edge with a strapless maxi dress to show off her shoulders and arms. With her hair swept back, she’s flashing some flesh but in a classy way and she’s staying warm. Her husband looks so proud – bless!

Meryl Streep at the Leicester Square screening

Meryl’s had  lot of experience dressing for the red carpet and it shows with her spectacular choice of silky maxi dress. It’s a green version of the Rochelle Humes embellished maxi dress from Very – 100% pure class.

Which outfit did you like the most? Make sure you see the film as it’s so empowering! It’s in cinemas on 30 October.

Celebrity Style Steal: Kendall Jenner At Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is the place to see and be seen, so even when you’re running round during the day you can’t afford to let standards slip. However, after a few days of partying it would be nice to be comfortable so how’s a girl to combine comfort and style?

The answer is to look at Kendall Jenner, who was undoubtedly comfy as she went book shopping in Paris during a break between shows. She’s got the flat shoes and she’s got the jeans but she’s been careful to match the colours to make it look as though she’s still thought about her outfit. The cream jacket matches the cream shoes and they’re very similar to ones at Very – the Carvela lido suede chunky espadrilles and the South faux fur leather jacket. High waisted skinny jeans give the look an extra edge, just like the South high rise Harper 1932 skinny jeans.

Now sunglasses are a must to add a final touch of chic, and there’s the added bonus that they cover tired eyes. Kendall’s have a tortoiseshell edge like the minimal oversized fashion sunglasses – oh la la!

What do you think of Kendall’s style?

WellChild Awards Vs Inside Soap Awards Fashion

Sometimes you wait ages for an awards ceremony and then two come along at once! The celebrities had split loyalties on the night of The WellChild awards and the Inside Soap Awards as both occurred at the same time, meaning it was actors and actresses at one and pop stars and TV presenters at the other (plus Prince Harry!).

But although there were different events, black seemed to be a constant theme. Most people wore black dresses to the WellChild awards while black jumpsuits were on the menu at Inside Soap. However, there were a few brave celebs in red at the soap awards too – it was nice to have a bit of colour.

Here are the best looks from both:

WellChild – Made In Chelsea’s Lauren Hutton

I loved Lauren’s prom dress, which looked very chic on the red carpet. Prom dresses and fur go so well together!

WellChild – Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins

The daytime TV presenter knows how to dress to make an impact at night! Her strapless black dress got all the photographers attention. Sometimes flashing a small bit of flesh can have more of an impact than showing it all.

WellChild – Sugababes singer Heidi Range

Heidi looked super sophisticated in a black jumpsuit that reminds me of the Definitions long sleeve lace jumpsuit. She’s been quiet for ages, but she revealed she’s still in music. She wants to manage bands and I think she’ll make a great mentor.

WellChild – Prince Harry

Prince Harry is the patron of the charity and he made a real effort to not only meet as many kids as possible but to put them at ease. Not many royals, or men, would try basketball in a suit! And he also tried to perform magic tricks and crack jokes.

Inside Soap – Nikki Sanderson

Nicki Sanderson really made an impact at the Inside Soap awards. Not only was her dress red, it was a super flattering bodycon shape. Double win!

Inside Soap – Hollyoaks’ Gemma Atkinson

Gemma, who was nominated for Soap’s Sexiest female, had my favourite jumpsuit of the night. I love the slightly flared trousers. It’s very similar to the Definitions diamante chain jumpsuit at Very.

Inside Soap – Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe

Jennifer won Soap’s Sexiest Female and she chose a very daring dress to collect it in by Kim Kardashaian’s favourite latex designer. It takes bodycon to a new level. What do you think?

Inside Soap – Eastenders Lorna Fitzgerald

In Eastenders she plays troubled teen Abi Branning, but in real life Lorna Fitzgerald looked like she didn’t have a care in the world as she walked the red carpet. I’m not surprised as she must have looked and felt comfortable in her classic black jumpsuit.

Who do you think looked best? For me, it has to be one of the celebs wearing jumpsuits.

Paris Fashion Week Celebrity Fashion: Straps And Nudes

Paris Fashion Week is all about the couture, which means the audience dress up to watch the shows as much as the models do to parade down the catwalks. It’s the place to see and be seen and every show has an after-party so there’s no holding back when it comes to dressing to impress in Paris. This means it’s great inspiration for the Christmas party season if you want to make an impact. I loved the strappy detail and the mix of nudes and blacks. Here are the best looks so far:

Kendall Jenner, Oliver Rousteing and Gigi Hadid at a party

Oliver Rousteing from Balmain counts all the celebrities that sit on the front row as his personal friends and they love him because he’s a lot of fun. While most designers rest before  a big show, Oliver went out the night before his. Kendall and Gigi’s lace outfits are a sign of what’s been coming up in Paris ever since. Gigi’s bodycon mini dress ensured she stood out, but I did like how Kendall combined flirty and feminine with her flared trousers. They’re similar to the Pinko tenore sheer trousers from Very.

Hailey Baldwin at Balmain

A bodycon dress is a great way to make an impact and it’s super flattering too. What transforms Gigi’s dress is it’s detail – you could also add a belt to get a similar effect.

Jada Pinkett Smith at Chloe

She’s married to Will Smith, she’s a successful actress in her own right and boy does she know how to power dress. I do like the leather trousers but I really like the power jacket, worn fashionista style over her shoulders. It reminds me of the Definitions zip peplum jacketfrom Very.

Jourdan Dunn, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid at Balmain after-party

It was fifty shades of beige at the Balmain after party. Beige trousers and gold heels go well together for the perfect party entrance.

Rihanna at a Paris nightclub

Rihanna has such a strong sense of individual style – I love how she can wear what she wants and pull it off with attitude. Her boyfriend jeans remind me of the South Blake rip and repair boyfriend jeans and they look best teamed with a pair of strappy sandals for a night out.

Whose look did you like best? And the big question is – does Paris fashion week beat London? I think us Brits still do it best.

Celebrity Style Steal Amal Clooney

Celebrity Style Steal: Amal Clooney’s Gorgeous Green Outfit

As we go into Autumn, we can either crawl into it in dark colours or jump into it in bright colours like Amal Clooney. The human rights lawyer looked gorgeous in green as she went out for dinner in New York with her hunky husband George. After a hard day at work, it’s always good to throw off the suits and formal clothes and wear something fun at night and that green dress she wore ticked all the boxes.

I like it’s A’line shape, which floats as she walks, meaning she brings a little bit of cheer everywhere she goes, With a little bit of research, I found it’s actually very similar to the  South A’line jersey swing dress, which means we can all follow in Amal’s footsteps. Talking of feet, the Ted Baker Jickai blue caged sandals are a statement shoe and look fabulous with the dress – Amal knows that a heel is great for lengthening your legs and helping your posture. Then for the full Amal look we need some accessories, and she’s wearing a chunky bracelet like the  Oasis vintage stretch bracelet.

Amal is also wearing drop ear-rings. With green, you can have silver or gold jewellery but I particularly like the Little Mistress drop ear-rings from Very.

Now George Clooney may be off the market, but  copying this look could attract another handsome celeb. It worked for Amal….what do you think?
