Met Ball Gala 2016: Best Dressed

The Met Ball Gala ball brings celebrities from all walks of life – music, film and TV – to unite for one common cause. That cause is fashion.

Hosted by Anna Wintour and American Vogue, each year is bigger and better than the last. Every year, the stars are given a theme and have to wear outfits that are not only spectacular but are relevant.  This year the theme was complicated but very cool – Manus Vs Machina: Fashion In An Age of Technology. This means futuristic!

Stars went for a fabulous mix of metallic colours and bright outfits – the Met Ball is no place for shy people. Let’s have a closer look at who looked fabulous:

Taylor Swift

With her new platinum blonde hair, Taylor looks futuristic and so she rocked a metallic mini dress that made her look like a character from a sci-fi movie, a gorgeous character! Love the gladiator sandals too!

Kylie Jenner

Kylie looked sensational in a silver maxi dress. It looks like something that would fit a Great Gatsby themed party as well as a technology inspired party thanks to all the sequins and sparkles. It’s the bob that brings it up to date – simple but chic – which is important when you want the dress to stand out.

Kim Kardashian

Kim showed that she’s on track losing her baby weight in a stunning silver dress. It’s quite similar to her younger sister Kylie.

Beyonce

Beyonce looked bootylicious in a bodycon dress – what a way to make an entrance! A bodycon maxi is so flattering and Beyonce knows she looks fabulous judging by her smile. It’s only a couple of years since Beyonce’s sister Solange kicked her husband in an elevator at this event but Beyonce comes back and holds her head high and we love her for it.

Rita Ora

Rita represents us Brits at the ball and looks stunning in a glamorous silver maxi dress, made with silver feathers. If there are more outfits like this in the future thanks to new technology. then the world will be one fun place! Until then, a silver maxi is still pretty glamorous.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie stands out for keeping it simple at an event where everyone else seems to have opted for gold or silver. If you don’t like a lot of colour, then wearing a simple white maxi dress that’s well-fitted will make you look like a star without it seeming that you’ve tried too hard. If you feel confident in this, you’ll walk with your head high – just as Rosie does.

Kate Upton

The American model and actress looked like a goddess in a one-shoulder maxi dress with a thigh high split. The colour perfectly matches the theme and the shape of the dress perfectly emphasises her figure and gives her an hourglass sihouette. A one-shoulder maxi dress is always interesting to look at, and it’s cool to show off a hint of skin without showing everything.

Katy Perry

I almost didn’t recognise Katy Perry. She channeled a gothic vibe in a black maxi dress that was embellished with gold keys. Everyone imagines that the future will be full of robots and machines, but Katy looks fabulous in this and very unique!

Zoe Saldana

Zoe’s dress was huge! She said that we may want to dress in more colours in the future when technology is all black and white and she shows what she means in a multi-colour maxi dress.

Alexa Chung

Alexa looked amazing in a trouser suit! She was the only one in trousers and it was inspiring – in the future women will be as strong and fierce as ever. I loved the sequin embellishment and thought it was a great party look. She’d be as comfortable at the end of the night as she was at the beginning.

Who do you think looked the best?

Disney’s Radio Awards: Fabulous Fashion

Film awards season may be over, but music awards ceremonies go on all year and Disney Radio hosted their annual bash at the weekend. Since Disney is a popular brand, a lot of stars attended and the dress code seemed to be conservative but fabulous. You can’t flash the flesh at a family brand’s event but the celebs showed it is possible to look gorgeous without revealing too much.

Judging from the stars’ outfits, the way to stand out and make an entrance at a formal event like this is to go for something that shows off your shape such as a bodycon dress. Gwen Stefani takes this to another level, but Australian singer and actress Alli Simpson makes it work for her by wearing trousers with a blouse and the combination shows off her slim waist.  Whether we want to go all out or dip our toes into the bodycon trend, we can be inspired by:

Gwen Stefani

I love this multicolour bodycon dress, as it’s both fun and flattering. When you have this much colour on a dress, the shape needs to be simple and a midi dress is ideal, especially one with a high-neck. It’s also a good idea to be adventurous with your make-up if wearing colours as you don’t want the dress to wash you out – you need to wear it rather than it wearing you!

Hailee Steinfeld

The American actress looks super cute in a classic black bodycon dress with a pink trim. This is a great way to experiment with Spring colours as you have the safety of black with a pretty twist. Black has the advantage of being super flattering, especially when worn with high heels to lengthen the legs and emphasise muscle tone in your legs and bum. This is a dress that could be worn for both work and play.

Alli Simpson

The Australian singer highlights her waist by wearing contrasting colours and by tucking her black blouse into the cream trousers.  I think the gladiator sandals are very cool – what do you think?

Ariana Grande

ariana

Ariana adds a touch of luxe to a classic black bodycon dress with a sparkling necklace and a faux fur jacket. The singer is really coming into her own in the style stakes right now as she’s been busy promoting her latest album and she’s looked incredible at each interview and gig. I’ve noticed that she tends to stick to one colour – such as all cream or all black – and that works for her when teamed up with some fab accessories. Coats and jewellery can really add some wow factor to an outfit!

Who do you think looked best? Bodycon is super-flattering and there are so many wears to wear it as these celebs showed.

Captain America: Civil War- Super Premiere Fashion

I love a big-budget Hollywood movie because not only is the film action-packed, but there’s a great big celebration to mark the film’s release. Captain America is based on the Marvel comic book story and its premiere was actually marvellous in terms of the celebs’ outfits.

The actresses in the film aren’t yet as well known as the leading man Robert Downey Jr, and they must have felt pressure to dress up to get noticed because they dazzled in contrasting outfits – one in a bright maxi dress and the other in a dark jumpsuit. The celebs that attended to watch the film at Westfield London also dressed to impress. My fave outfits were:

Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth’s the younger sister of fashionable American twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and she’s clearly learned a thing or two from them in terms of fashion. Her cream maxi dress really stood out and made her look like a Princess. With beachy hair and tousled waves, she makes the look more edgy. Anything slicked back and it may seem like she’s trying too hard but this way she’s definitely wearing the dress rather than it dominating her.

Emily VanCamp

The American actress looked super chic in a black jumpsuit that emphasized her slim waist. A tailored jumpsuit is great for an evening event as it flatters the figure and it looks like you’ve made an effort, but you’ll end the evening as comfortable as you started. Wear with killer heels for a more dressed-up style.

Made In Chelsea’s Jess Woodley

A trouser suit with a pretty vest underneath looks both fierce and feminine. Made in Chelsea is now back on our screens for its 11th season and Jess is drawing attention to it for all the right reasons. I always look forward to Monday nights to tune into E4 to see what the Chelsea girls are wearing.

Stooshe

The girl band co-ordinated black and khaki green outfits. I particularly liked the khaki green blouse and the green coat, as the dark colour is flattering for all skin tones. It’s a strong colour and when you look in the mirror wearing this colour, you’ll feel more confident and be  ready for anything. It sends out the message that you’re strong and in control!

Who do you think looked best? The film’s out on 29 April if you fancy some drama.

Coachella Weekend Two: More Celeb Festival Style

Coachella is such a fabulous festival that there’s not just one weekend of music and fashion fun – it goes on over two weekends. I had a close look at what the celebs wore to the first weekend in a blog post last week and now it’s time to see what happened in the second and final weekend of partying in America’s Palm Springs.

On the first weekend, the trend was for denim – shorts and dresses – as well as loose kaftans that could be thrown on as an extra layer and to brighten up an outfit. The second weekend had the same hot weather and the celebs went the extra mile to keep up the fashion standards. It’s more inspiration for festival season in the UK, which is only around a month away. The outfits I liked were:

Ellie Goulding

Ellie performed at the event and one highlight was her cover of Prince’s Purple Rain, in tribute to the recently deceased singer. I loved her black shorts and black crop top outfit – shorts are great at festivals as you can easily wipe the rain or mud off your legs, while it takes a lot longer to clean it off clothes!

Leona Lewis

Leona kept up the denim trend with some super cool denim shorts. I love how she mixes denim and lace for a boho vibe and the braided hair completes the look. Leona’s moved to LA now to work on more music and I can’t wait to hear it!

Paris Hilton

paris

Paris also went for a boho vibe with braided hair and unique body jewellery. However, my favourite part of her outfit is the maxi skirt. Not only is a maxi dress perfect for festivals, but a maxi skirt is equally good as its flattering and feminine, but practical because you can move and dance in it without risk of flashing anything you shouldn’t. Paris is a Coachella veteran and it shows!

Alessandra Ambrosio

Denim and leather is the ultimate rock chick combination and the supermodel rocks it! It’s her second weekend at the festival so she knows the style by now and she looks amazing. Denim shorts and a biker jacket is a simple formula but it totally works in a festival environment and it will give anyone a touch of attitude. What do you think?

Whose outfit did you like the most?

HOW TO DRESS LIKE AN Off-Duty Model

Models and actresses like to party just like the rest of us! Some top British stars all got together for a fashion party in London this week and it was interesting to see their individual styles when they weren’t being dressed by a top designer or on a red carpet. It’s easy for them to get it right when someone else is picking their outfits, but how would they get on when they were left to their own devices?

The answer is that their experiences on the catwalks and in front of the cameras has been good practise and inspiration for choosing their everyday outfits. Because they get to wear the new trends first, they know what suits them and they adapt this for their day to day style. We may not have the same direct knowledge of the trends before anyone else, but by watching these celebs we can tell what it is. So let’s have a closer look at what the models and actresses wore as if we copy them we’ll have a head start on the trends:

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan showed off her feminine side in a gorgeous peach coloured midi dress. The colour looks fantastic against her skin and the length is perfect for British Spring / Summer – it’s loose and flowing but it covers you up if the weather goes from hot to cold. Jourdan won Model of The Year at this year’s British Fashion Awards so she knows what she’s doing when it comes to fashion.

Daisy Lowe

Not only is Daisy a successful model, but her mother Pearl Lowe models as well as singing so fashion runs in the genes. Daisy has always dressed with attitude and this striped dress with a striking biker jacket looks amazing on her. A biker jacket can transform any outfit into one that oozes confidence and attitude.

Naomie Harris

The Bond actress looked a world apart from her formally-dressed, severe Moneypenny character at the party. I loved her bodycon midi dress, which was a similar colour to Jourdan’s and ideal for this time of year. The shape of the dress is simple, which means the colour really stands out. What do you think?

Natalie Dormer

The Game of Thrones actress looked a cool mix of feminine and fierce. The black bodycon dress is super girly, while the biker jacket is pure rock chick. I like this outfit as she looks pretty but you wouldn’t mess with her. At the party, I found out Natalie is running this year’s London Marathon so she is super strong – it will be her second London Marathon.

Rose Leslie

Rose, who also stars in Game of Thrones, went for a black dress as well but hers was more girly. A black lace midi dress looks almost vintage and Rose looked lovely in it, keeping her red hair loose and simple to emphasise the detail on the dress. I like lace dresses as they catch the eye and yet they’re really easy to wear.

Who do you think had the best off-duty style?

Celebrity Style Steal: Taylor Swift’s Edgy Festival Outfit

Taylor Swift has undergone a makeover and she looks better than ever! With cropped, bleached blonde hair and cool skater girl style clothes, Taylor looked worlds away from the preppy, squeaky clean young girl that started in the music industry as a teenager.

I don’t know whether she’s been influenced by the laidback style of her boyfriend Calvin Harris, or whether she was bored with being highly groomed all the time as to constantly match tops and skirts and blowdry your hair takes time! But whatever it is, it’s worked for her because in this outfit that Taylor wore to the Coachella festival she’s proved she’s a natural beauty.

If this look is good enough for Taylor, it’s good enough for me and I’ve found it’s super easy to copy. I’d start with the supersoft Warehouse cupro mix oversized t-shirt, which layers up perfectly with the South lace-tie denim mini skirt. The skirt’s very short but you’re not showing any of your top half so you can get away with it. The next step is the accessories and Taylor’s wearing a choker, which is really on trend right now. I’ve seen so many celebs wear chokers recently! I like the Ariana Grande by Lipsy heart choker.

converse

As she’s at a festival, Taylor’s had to ditch her normal heels for some trainers. However, comfortable shoes don’t have to be dull and if you look at Taylor’s footwear you’ll see she’s wearing colourful Converse. They’re very similar to the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars in sunset yellow.

What do you think of Taylor’s new look?

Celebrity Festival Style At Coachella

Coachella has to be the world’s most glamorous festival. It’s in Palm Springs in America so the weather is always fine and because of that, the stars can wear what they want without fear they’ll get rained on.

Festival season starts in the UK in June with the Isle Of Wight on 9 June, followed by Glastonbury on 22 June, so it pays to take inspiration from Coachella and plan in advance. Even if it rains, you can wear something like what the celebs wore to Coachella as a base layer and sling a parka jacket or a waterproof over the top. Festival chic is all about layering!

Here’s a look at the stars who made the festival ground their mini catwalk and looked absolutely gorgeous:

Kendall Jenner

Denim is a festival essential and Kylie looks gorgeous in her denim shorts and gladiator sandals. This is an outfit that not only looks cool, but is practical and this is important at a festival as you’re likely to be running round to see different bands and catch up with friends.

Bella Thorne

Bella pulled off a boho chic style at the festival with her denim shorts and bardot top. The layered accessories are the finishing touch to the look – the more bling, the better!

Suki Waterhouse

Suki also had a boho vibe going in a white kaftan. A kaftan is so comfortable for warm weather – it feels like you’re walking round in your nightshirt – but it looks stylish at the same time. If you’re likely to have a hard week partying, packing an oversized kaftan will make you feel super cosy.

Kylie Jenner

The youngest of the Kardashian / Jenner sisters spent most of the festival in a bikini, but when she did wear clothes, she kept things simple with a loose black mini dress over a white t-shirt. You don’t have to go OTT with embellishments and super tight clothing at festivals. The more effortless you look the better.

Emma Roberts

Emma, who is Julia Roberts’ niece, looked super pretty in a denim dress – yet another star to be wearing denim! It fits her figure perfectly but it’s also easy to move in.

Alessandra Ambrosio

The supermodel went for a layered look, mixing denim shorts and a bikini with a loose, flowing kaftan. She looks bright and colourful without looking as if she’s tried too hard. A kaftan is as essential for festivals as denim shorts!

Emily Ratajowski

The star of the Blurred Lines video looked stunning! A maxi dress is perfect for festivals as it’s easy to wear and you don’t have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions! Simply wear with sandals or boots and you have a practical but pretty look.

Who do you think looked the best? Are you going to any festivals this year? Let the summer of live music commence!

Wild Fashion At Jungle Book UK premiere

What do you wear to the premiere of a movie set in the jungles of India? Something bright, of course! When the stars turned up to London’s BFI IMax cinema for the premiere of The Jungle book – Disney’s live-action / computer animated remake of their classic cartoon – they dressed to reflect the spirit of the film.

The celebs’ outfits were beautifully coloured, which is ideal for this time of year. Now that Spring is here and we’re starting to see some sun between the showers, it’s a time that we can wear lighter colours and get in the spirit of summer. It will be here before we know it. So let’s have a closer look at some of the celebs to see Spring style inspiration.

Lydia Bright

Lydia looked adorable in loose white trousers that are very similar to the Rochelle Humes wide leg palazzo trousers and a long white waistcoat. It’s ideal for lazing around on summer holidays or attending an event and making sure all eyes are on you. Not many people would be brave enough to wear something like this but Lydia took a risk and pulled it off so there’s no reason why we can’t do the same.

Sara Gallagher

Rock star Noel Gallagher’s wife Sara definitely had a rock chick look about her in jeans and a bright red shirt. This is a safe way to get more colour in our wardrobes – wear a great pair of jeans and simply alternate different bright coloured tops!

Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt

Wow! Talk about making an impact! Kimberly went all out in a floral print multi-colour bodycon dress. It’s not something you’d wear every day but ideal for when you want everyone to notice you. The bodycon shape is very flattering too – creating womanly curves. What do you think?

Jessica Wright

Ok, so the reality TV star may be wearing a black dress but her caramel coloured biker jacket is gorgeous. The jacket would look equally good with pale blue or white skinny jeans for true Spring / Summer dressing.

Ashley James

The pretty TV presenter and on-off girlfriend if David Walliams  looked picture perfect in her floral midi dress. It’s cinched in at the waist so it really flatters her shape and gives a gorgeous hourglass silhouette. Very classy!

Are you in the mood for lighter and brighter clothes now?

Wear A Black Dress For Work Or Play Like A Star

A black dress is the ultimate confidence booster. Black dresses are always flattering and they fit into all dress codes – from smart casual to black tie. A black dress is not to be under-estimated – just because it’s not colourful, doesn’t mean it’s boring. In fact, there are so many gorgeous styles of black dress from skater dresses to shift dresses to stunning bodycon dresses. We’re spoiled for choice!

The most fashionable celebrities often wear black dresses and if they’re good enough for the likes of Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian they’re good enough for me. These are the most popular black dress trends right now, set by the celebs:

Victoria Beckham – Smart Black Dress

vbfashion

Victoria Beckham means business during London Fashion Week. It’s a busy time for her and she’s a working mum so she needs a dress that’s easy to wear but looks smart and sophisticated. I suggest copying her chic look with the V by Very lace collared A’line dress.

Nicki Minaj – Black Maxi Dress

nickifashion

Nicki is the ultimate diva, showing just how good you can make a plain black maxi dress look. A black dress allows you to spend more time on some seriously cool acessories. Nicki’s dress reminds me of the V by Very racer back maxi dress. Then layer up with some statement jewellery like the Glamorous tassel necklace and some gold bracelets.

Kim Kardashian – Black Bodycon Dress

kimfashion

Kim Kardashian always looks glamorous, and since meeting Kanye her wardrobe only contains black dresses, beige dresses and white dresses. They do suit her though. I can imagine Kim wearing the AX Paris eyelet lace up side midi dress – what do you think?

Taylor Swift – Black Midi Dress

taylorfashion

Taylor has a fan base of millions and when she acts, everyone follows. I love how she’s rocking a simple black midi dress for a TV appearance, as it highlights her slim frame without it appearing as if she’s tried too hard. Her dress is similar to the V by Very lace up sleeve jersey midi dress. But you need some killer heels to work the look like Taylor did – try the Paper Dolls Jezabel caged court shoes.

Cara Delevingne – Black Skater Dress

carafashion

Cara may have left modelling for film, but she still has a great sense of style. At the premiere of her latest film, she looked awesome in a feminine black dress and boyish boots. To nailthe rock chick look you need a loose dress like the Samantha Faiers lace panel skater dress. It looks fabulous when worn with boots like the TIimberland lace up boots. The finishing touch is a pendant like the River Island drop detail layered necklace.

MTV Movie Awards 2016: Award Winning Fashion

When MTV hosts a party, they do it in style. Hours of preparation must have gone into the MTV Movie Awards as there were lots of comedy gold moments and the show itself was just as entertaining as the films that won. There’s a list of who won what at the end so you can see what the best movies to watch are, and what was especially cool was that British actress Daisy Ridley won an award for her role in Star Wars. She looked stunning too!

A lot of preparation must have been put in by the celebrities to work out what they were going to wear as there were some seriously head-turning outfits. This could be because when supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are presenting awards, the actresses know they can’t look casual in comparison. Here’s a look at some of the best MTV Movie Awards party outfits:

Cara Delevingne

Cara’s been keeping quite a low profile recently so it was cool to see her back on the red carpet. She’s lost none of her supermodel style, keeping things elegant in a black jumpsuit. She’s never been a girly dresser and a jumpsuit makes her look strong and powerful while the velvet material gives it a playful edge. Welcome back, Cara!

Kendall Jenner

Cara’s BFF Kendall Jenner looked like a Grecian Goddess in her black maxi dress and  super high black gladiator sandals. She was up on stage to introduce Ariana Grande and if I was Ariana I would not have been happy about sharing the stage with such a stunning celeb.

Daisy Ridley

Daisy Ridley looked super cool in a mini dress. When other stars were wearing maxi dresses or midi dresses, Daisy showed she had an individual sense of style as well as lovely legs. She was a great ambassador for British stars, showing we can do movies just as well as the Americans.

Gigi Hadid

I wouldn’t want to mess with Gigi Hadid! She looks like she means business in her formal suit. When wearing a suit, make it more feminine by adding heels and wearing your hair down just like Gigi. Her boyfriend Zayn Malik is one lucky man!

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain stuck to her tried-and-tested formula with a figure-hugging black maxi dress that showed off all of her curves. If you’ve got it, flaunt it! And she’s covering her legs so she gets away with showing her top half.

Charlize Theron

Charlize is almost 20 years older than the likes of Gigi, Kendall and Cara, but age means experience and the Oscar-winning actress had a lot of experience dressing for red carpets. Her black midi dress is divine – showing her gorgeous legs off but keeping things classy and elegant. What do you think?

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande had to make an effort with her appearance as she was performing after Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid introduced her. It can’t have been easy to follow two supermodels but her bluesy performance of Dangerous Woman kept everyone on the edge of their seats. A white faux fur coat adds glamour and luxury to any look.

How glamorous was all that! Would you have worn a jumpsuit or trouser suit or a dress if you’d been there? Cara and Gigi show that trousers can make a woman look powerful when they arrive at a party – what do you think?

And the winners are:

Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards: Maxi Dress Glamour

The Laurence Olivier Theatre awards are the Oscars of the stage world, held at The Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.

Here are the best looks:

Laura Carmichael

The Downton Abbey actress looked so pretty and feminine in a black maxi dress with a floral print. Now we’re in Spring, florals are blooming and making a comeback and it’s a nice way to brighten up a party!

Gemma Arterton

Wow! Talk about a statement dress. I don’t see many purple dresses on the red carpet, which is a shame because it looks fabulous on Gemma, helping her to stand out from the crowd.

Rose Leslie and Kit Harrington

The Game of Thrones stars looked so elegant on the red carpet! Rose’s strapless maxi dress made her look like a Princess. Now the sun is coming out, it’s time to get a tan and show off your shoulders.

Preeya Kalidas

The Eastenders actress turned star of Bend it Like Beckham had some gorgeous embellishment on her blue maxi dress, which shone as the paparazzi took her photos. This look could work equally well with a plain dress and some gold jewellery.

Lara Pulver

Lara won an award for her performance in the musical Gypsy, which is currently at London’s Savoy theatre. She certainly looks like a winner in her green maxi dress. The colour is divine and looks stunning with her dark hair. What do you think?

Who do you think looked the most sophisticated?

Celebs Step Out In Their Best Berry Outfits

What do you wear if you want a brighter alternative to black but something that’s equally flattering? More and more celebs are wearing berry coloured outfits. They’re more attention grabbing than black, but its safer than wearing something like scarlet red. Also, you can wear some gorgeous make-up to complement a berry outfit.

Lucy Mecklenburgh – Night Out

Lucy wowed everyone at the National Film Awards, looking like a movie star herself in a maxi skirt and crop top. She really makes the most of this look by sweeping her hair back and wearing dark lipstick – so vampy!

Chloe Sims – Day to Night

chloe-berry

The star of TOWIE looks very chic wearing a dress out shopping. A simple dress without too much embellishment is perfect if you need to go out at night and run errands in the day and fear you may not have time to go home and get changed. I love the V by Very twist neck pencil dress, which is chic and elegant and similar to Chloe’s.

Riley Keough – Cool Daywear

riley-purple

Elvis Presley would be proud of his grand-daughter, who looks stunning as she runs errands in LA. The gorgeous shade of berry reminds me of the V bu Very waterfall front sleeveless top, which is great with jeans if you want a cool, casual day look. You could also get your legs out like Riley did and wear it with a mini skirt and brogues.

Which berry outfit did you like the best?

Celeb Style Steal: Ariana Grande’s Pretty Pastels

Ariana Grande is one busy lady. She’s done a fashion collaboration with Lipsy, she’s just released her third album Dangerous Woman and now she has a whirlwind of interviews and tour dates to promote it. Somehow she manages to do all this and still look fresh and pretty – if she’s tired you certainly can’t tell.

I really liked the outfit that she wore on the Jimmy Fallon show in America as the pretty blush colour looks gorgeous next to her skin. It’s feminine but it’s more subtle than a brighter shade of pink and it’s ideal for Springtime. What do you think?

Thankfully, it’s an easy look to copy so we can all look bright and breezy, even after a late night! Start with a flowing cardigan like Very’s sequin & lurex detail wrap and match with some wide-leg or bootcut trousers like the V by Very mix & match bootcut trousers. Underneath, all you need is a pretty white vest top like the V by Very lace detail cami.

Don’t forget the accessories! Killer heels will complement the trousers – I like the Shoe Box Ivy ankle strap platform shoes. The final touch is some jewellery to add some extra shine and something like the Lola and Grace rose gold plated roundelle double wrap necklace. Don’t you think it’s a good idea it’s better to add some brightness to your life this Spring?

Batman V Superman: Red Carpet Party Looks

After what seems like weeks of awards ceremonies, London’s Leicester Square went back to doing what it does best – hosting a fabulous film premiere. No expense was spared for the world premiere of Batman V Superman starring the gorgeous hunks Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck.

The film is packed with action and it will grab your attention from the start to the finish, but before the film started all anyone could think about was the fashion.

Here are the best dresses:

Batman V Superman actress Gal Gadot

When it’s your party, you need to stand out and Gal did just that in a red maxi dress. The embellishment on the straps makes you look up into her face and she matches her dress with a splash of red lipstick. Stunning!

Actress Louisa Lytton

Louisa went full out and fabulous in a black maxi dress. Wearing long sleeves is great for a night out as it means you can go without a coat and still be comfortable as you arrive. The fact that it’s got a split means it’ll be great for dancing in.

Batman V Superman actress Amy Adams

I love the colour of Amy’s strapless maxi dress. You can’t quite tell if it’s dark blue or a minty shade of green and as a result people stop and give her a second glance – for the right reasons. It looks lovely with her pale skin tone too.

TV Presenter Ferne McCann

Wow! Ferne has left TOWIE way behind – she looks super sophisticated in her black maxi dress with split. I bet all her former co-stars are ‘Well Jell’.

Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding

You can’t beat monochrome for an attention-grabbing party outfit! Sarah’s got a fab figure and she flaunts it in her bodycon dress. I love her black heels too.

Which dress do you like the most? Batman V Superman is out in the UK on 25 March – and Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are wearing very tight costumes in it. Just what I like!

Nike Air Max Day: The Best Air Max Moments

It’s a double celebration at the weekend, as March 26th isn’t only the day before Easter (yay!) but also Nike Air Max Day – a celebration of 29 years of Air Max. From the first Air Max 1 pair in 1987 that introduced ‘visible air’ to the world, to the ground-breaking Air Max 90 (Infrared) in 1990 and moving us into a new chapter with the Air Max Flyknit in 2014, these shoes have certainly made their mark.

They’re hugely popular around the world – and have been a key fixture in our culture for nearly 30 years, appearing in some of our favourite movies, on the feet of well-known pop stars and even the US President! So grab your favourite pair and check out some of our favourite Air Max moments:

In pop music…

We loved when Ella wore her Nike Air Max with a sporty vibe and tumbling curls. The pop starlet is a huge fan of Air Max and is rumoured to have around 32 pairs – with even a couple of bespoke pairs with ‘Feline’ written on them.

When Rita Ora Instagrammed hers…

Nike Air Max have been seen on a range of stars over the years, but in the last couple of years with the 90s trend hitting the catwalk, there has been real love for the more retro style of Air Max. Rita Ora even Instagrammed her obsession with the shoe – and is seen here performing in a metallic blue pair to complement her outfit!

In fashion…

Putting a different spin on the sports shoe, we love the way Vogue teamed her Air Max with leather look leggings, a quilted shoulder bag and zebra print coat for a fashionable off-duty look.

When Sam Faiers showed off her abs in hers!

When Sam showed off her amazing abs thanks to all her hard work down the gym, it wasn’t just her abs we were looking at… we couldn’t take our eyes off her striking Nike pink trainers! The Air Max beauties added a fun feel to her workout that even inspired us to want to get training too. If only we could look this glam while exercising!

In Politics (yes, really)…

When President Barack Obama wore his…

US President Barack Obama has been spotted out and about in his Nike Air Max shoes on many occasions – he’s especially fond of an Elite II pair! And as a huge basketball fan he’s often seen shooting some hoops while in a pair.

In the Movies…

When Morgan Freeman wore a pair in Lean on Me

Lean on Me starring Morgan Freeman showed a pair of Air Max 1s – also known as Air Max 87s. The film is based loosely on the true events around an inner city high school principal, Joe Clark who made radical changes to save his school from being taken over. But Air Max provide a moment of light relief when Freeman’s character takes part in a skipping scene!

The first pair of Air Max that came from the original design by Tinker Hatfield, these Air Maxs were a cultural phenomenon.

When King Ralph wore them to the cricket…

When John Goodman strapped on a pair of Air Max 90s for the film King Ralph, he broke the rules of etiquette by wearing bright sneakers to a cricket match. But he definitely scored style points as this pair of Air Max is one of the most popular pairs of all time. Although he sports Air Jordan Vs on the poster for the film, it is the colourful Air Max 90s he wears throughout most of the film that came out in 1991, the year before the film was released.

So there you have it – Nike Air Max have had a huge impact within fashion and culture, and basically just look pretty cool as well! So to get your pair, shop the Nike store on our website.

Empire Film Awards 2016: Best Dressed

Just when The Oscars seem like a distant memory, The Empire Film Awards took place in London and the stars made just as much effort with their outfits! The Empire Awards are a really prestigious Awards ceremony as they’re voted for by Empire magazine readers.

The most awards went to the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens with its stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega winning individual  prizes for Best Actress Newcomer and Best Actor Newcomer, director JJ Abrahams winning Best Director and the film winning Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy.  But there was more diversity when it came to fashion with celebs wearing  trouser suits as well as chic black dresses.

Here are the best outfits in close-up:

Daisy Ridley

Daisy sparkled on the red carpet in a sequin dress. It hugged her figure perfectly and she looked really comfortable in it. The awards started at 6pm and Daisy was still partying after midnight so she could clearly party in it. Sequins always look good on the dancefloor too!

Laura Carmichael

The Downton Abbey actress opted for something a little different – a black midi dress with mesh. When someone wears a midi dress while everyone else’s in maxis, they really stand out.

Olympia Valance

Neighbours actress Olympia looked incredible in a black maxi dress. She’s the younger sister of former Neighbours actress turned singer Holly Valance and she’s clearly watched and learned from her sister the best tips to look glam on the red carpet. I like how the top half is figure hugging and it flows out to a full skirt as this is so flattering and makes her waist look tiny.

Maisie Williams

The Game Of Thrones actress stood out in a colourful mini dress. If you don’t feel comfortable in a maxi dress, then  Maisie shows a mini dress can look smart. Notice that it has a high neck so she follows the rule of showing off her legs or her cleavage but not both.

Emily Atack

Emily walked the red carpet with attitude in her black trouser suit. She may have starred in The InBewteeners, but there’s nothing InBetween about her any more – she’s fully grown up and looks fabulous with it. Wearing trousers would make anyone strut down the red carpet as it takes away all fears of a wardrobe malfunction.

Hannah Murray

The Game of Thrones actress also opted for a suit, but hers was embellished. I loved how her blue trousers turned different colours as the camera flashbulbs picked them up. Because they’re skinny fit, she was able to move in them easily – way into the night on the dancefloor. That’s the way it should be!

Who do you think looked best?

Celebs Shimmer And Shine For Game Of Thrones

Game Of Thrones is one of the most popular TV series ever and so to mark the occasion of the eighth series – Hardhome – being released onto DVD, there was a big screening in London’s Leicester Square.

Celeb fans of the show attended dressed super glamorously to show their appreciation for the series in which anything goes. There did seem to be a trend among the celeb guests – luxurious, shimmery fabrics that must have felt great to wear and definitely reflected the paparazzi’s flashbulbs. Here’s a closer look:

Vogue Williams

Just a day after attending Very’s #OMGWHOSTHATGIRL party, Vogue was out on the town in London again. The Irish model and TV presenter’s crop top is two shades of black with a shiny fabric at the top. This really attracts the eye – perfect if you want to make a dramatic arrival.

Meena Rayann

The Game Of Thrones actress also went for shimmer in a subtle way. The white straps of her dress and belted waist contrast perfectly with the floaty black dress. When it comes to shimmer, every little helps. Test the waters with something like this if you’re feeling shy.

I’m a Celeb’s Stacey Soloman

Stacey looked stunning in a sparkly black bodycon dress as she attended the screening, posing for photos while her new boyfriend Joe Swash waited in the sidelines. She outshone him. What do you think?

Lucy Mecklenburgh

Sometimes leather can be a bit casual but Lucy dresses hers up for night with some lovely lace embellishment. The shiny nature of a leather dress ensures everyone stood up and took notice when she walked the red carpet outside The Empire cinema in Leicester Square.

Dakota Blue Richards

Dakota stood out by wearing  a cream dress in a gorgeous lace fabric. She became famous when she was a kid in the film The Golden Compass, and with a unique look like that she’s got a great career ahead of her. Watch this space!

Are you a Game of Thrones fan? What would you wear to an event like this?
