Celebrity Style Steal: Blake Lively’s FROW outfits

Blake Lively is currently in New York for the city’s Fashion Week and she’s making the streets of Manhattan her personal catwalk. On the Front Row at all the hottest shows, Blake’s been dressing so well she looks just as good as some of the models.

Unlike the fashion on the runway, Blake’s outfits are available to copy immediately. We can use her as inspiration for updating our smart work outfits as well as cool, causal day wear that will make all our friends wild with jealousy about how effortlessly fabulous we seem. Blake’s nailed the look so we don’t need to experiment and risk getting it wrong. What’s even better is that Blake’s a busy working actress as well as a mother and she wears outfits like this, which mean the clothes are wearable for busy lifestyles as well as being super stylish.

Let’s have a closer look at some of her best NYFW moments:

(1) The Smart Midi Dress

Blake sat next to legendary fashion editor Anna Wintour at the Michael Kors show so there was a lot of pressure on her to up her fashion game. When in doubt of what to wear it’s best to look smarter than usual as smart usually ensures you look more polished. Blake gets it just right in a red floral dress, which is similar to the V by Very crepe pleat detail floral dress. As the dress has so much detail, you don’t need any accessories except for some killer heels. The V by Very Tiger Lilly cut out court shoes are a gorgeous shade of red, just like Blake’s.

(2) The Cool Monochrome Layered Look

Black and white is always a striking look and Blake uses it to her advantage to layer up to create a warm but chic outfit to run around in. The way to start with this look is a black and white midi skirt like the V by Very mono print pleat skirt. Then add a simple black jumper like the V by Very seam tunic. Notice Blake’s monochrome outer layer has fur on the collar? It’s just like the V by Very faux fur collar boucle cape. Now all you need is some gorgeous court shoes like the V by Very Melanie pointed court shoes and some round sunglasses that the celebs love – try the River Island sunglasses.

What do you think of Blake’s style?

Grammy Awards 2017: Award Winning Outfits

The Grammy Awards took place in LA on the same night as the BAFTAs were staged in London – it was showbiz’s busiest night of the year by far! It means once we’d finished looking at what the stars wore to the BAFTAs, we still had all the Grammy outfits to lust over. It was fashion heaven!

The Grammy’s were equally glamorous as the BAFTAs and equally good inspiration for partywear. With Beyonce in attendance, the celebs couldn’t really dress down as they knew that if they did they’d be upstaged by Beyonce and her beautiful twin bump. So they put on their best dresses, climbed into their most fabulous heels and strutted down the red carpet like it was a stage. These stars know how to arrive at an event with attitude. If you want to enter a party like you own it, have a look at these gorgeous Grammy outfits for inspiration:

Beyonce lived up to her diva reputation in a dazzling sequin  red maxi dress. Well, you wouldn’t expect Queen Bey to be a shrinking wallflower, would you? She won Best Music Video and Best Urban Contemporary Album – one award for each twin. She looks so happy right now and you can see that she’s glowing inside and out, quite literally with those sequins!

Adele kept things classy in a green maxi dress and looked lovely as she collected an impressive five awards. She’s not showing any flesh, but she looks pretty and feminine thanks to a loose up-do and flawless make-up with her signature eyeliner flick. The dress cinches in at the waist to flatter her curves and she looks like a true superstar. It’s great to see that we don’t need to bare all to wow at a party. A long sleeve dress has just as much impact if it flatters your figure.

The American singer and producer has a unique sound and her dress sense is just as individual. Her pink midi dress is a gorgeous shade of pastel pink, while the snake embellishment makes it bold rather than simply sweet and girly. Black platform sandals also show that she’s a girl who likes to have fun and get noticed and in those heels she’ll be able to walk into any event with her head held high, feeling fabulous.

Rihanna has never been one to conform and has always set trends rather than followed them. She certainly did that again at The Grammys in a black maxi skirt with a crop top that showed off her flat stomach and a hint of underboob. If you have  a lovely statement skirt, you can build your look around it which is what Ri-Ri’s done. Do you think she pulls it off?

Solange Knowles

With her sister Beyonce in red, Solange had to go for a striking colour and she grabbed equally as much attention in a gold dress. The shape of this dress is just fabulous. With it’s one shoulder detail and pleats, there’s just so much to look at!

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen is one hot mama! She’s clearly lost all her baby weight and dressed to show that off in a black maxi dress. Black is a flattering colour, but there’s no hiding her incredible physique thanks to its mesh panels. John Legend is one lucky man.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo’s had years of Grammy experience and she’s still got it in a pink maxi dress. The bow at the top is a bit OTT but then you see the leg split and all is forgiven as she has stunning legs. If you know your best asset, then make sure you dress to show it off.

Who do you think wowed the most? See who won what Grammy Awards here.

BAFTA Awards 2017: Best Dressed

The BAFTAs are Britain’s equivalent to The Oscars. It’s our chance to show off our world-class directors and producers as well as actors and actresses. Also, it’s an opportunity to show that us Brits know how to host an awards ceremony and after-party (and after-after-party) as the Harvey Weinstein after after party goes on until 4am. That sounds much more fun than The Oscars.

However, it’s just as prestigious as any American award ceremony with stars flying in from all around the world to attend. The red carpet outside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden was one never-ending stream of A’listers. We’ve been through the pics and picked 10 gorgeous outfits worn by the stars that make us want to throw a formal party. Dresses like this are good for spring and into summer as the stars are dressing for colour and to show off their shoulders – Bardot necklines and strapless styles are very popular with the celebs right now, as you can see below.

Let’s have a closer look:

Emma Stone

Emma made one of the boldest outfit choices of the night. From the top, it looked like a gorgeous black evening dress embellished with jewels that gave her even more of a movie star glow. However, as she moved down the red carpet it became apparent that she had matching trousers on under the dress and a cute ankle bracelet. This kept her comfortable on the red carpet and she did a lot of interviews to make journalists happy, which was a refreshing contrast to those who wore more revealing outfits. She won Best Actress for La La Land and she would win any fashion award for taking a risk and pulling it off as her choice made her comfortable and confident, which is what we all want from a dress, isn’t it?

Michelle Williams

Michelle stood out from the crowd as she was not in a maxi dress. Her glittery sequin embellished mini dress sparkled with every step that she moved and was equally eye-catching in the audience as the camera kept panning towards her. With her platinum crop she has an edge to pull off most styles as it gives her more of a rock chick personality than other stars and that’s why she pulls off that mini dress. It’s all about attitude and again, finding something you feel comfortable in because it suits your personality.

Nicole Kidman

The LION actress put on a busty display in a halter neck dress with a monochrome style. It suited her long, lean shape and the plunging neckline gave her more curves than usual. If you’re tall, a dress with a contrasting colour on the top and bottom half can be really flattering as it gives you more of an hourglass shape. It’s a simple trick but it works, as Nicole showed.

Amy Adams

The Arrival actress turned heads from the front and back. From the front, her strapless green maxi dress looked flattering by showing off her athletic arms. But then the real treat came from behind with the dress’s cute bow back detail. Never underestimate the power of a backless dress for a way to get everyone staring at you for ages, wishing they’d thought of that. It had the added benefit of making her bottom look fabulous!

Emily Blunt

The British actress showed that we know how to make an impact at a big awards ceremony. When she went on stage to present an award, her black maxi dress with top half embellishment and skirt ruffles was literally captivating. She completely upstaged some of the winners in this dress by Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton. A bodycon dress with an eye-catching print is a fail-safe way to get noticed – for the colour and the shape!

Laura Whitmore

The TV presenter was interviewing the stars on the red carpet for the BAFTA Backstage show, so she didn’t actually get to go inside but she looked every inch an actual movie star in a white bardot dress. The colour is dazzling and then you notice her lovely tanned shoulders and face and blonde hair and she looks every inch a blonde California girl. Except she’s British and there’s a good chance she’s used self-tan rather than seen any sun. It just goes to show that we can all achieve any look we want – self-tan is a vital accessory on a big night out!

Penelope Cruz

The Spanish actress shimmered in a silver glitter gown. She was almost like a walking disco ball as she sashayed down the red carpet – her reflection went anywhere. Silver and gold are perfect for awards ceremonies and formal dinners as they make an impact for the right reasons. What do you think of Penelope’s dress?

Amelia Dornan

As the hunky Jamie Dornan’s wife, Amelia had to make an effort to claim her man. She’s fighting off his admirers around the world, especially now that he’s in the new 50 Shades Darker film. However, she gave everyone a clear warning that she’s fierce and fabulous so back off, by wearing a striking strapless sequin dress. No wonder Jamie ended up with who he did, she looks pretty but noticeable and that’s not always easy to pull off.

Sophie Turner

The Game of Thrones star rocked a plunging black and silver long sleeve maxi dress. It’s daring but it made everyone look twice or maybe three or four times. The skirt is long and flowing so she is following the rule of keeping the bottom half covered if she’s showing off her top. The tight waist detail where it contrasts between top and bottom makes her waist look lovely and slim and she enhanced her legs with some killer black heeled sandals. This is a cool way to wear a maxi dress and Sophie looks her age – it’s fresh, not frumpy.

The Duchess of Cambridge

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Kate attend an evening event and she didn’t disappoint in a black floral dress with a bardot neckline. A black floral dress is a safe choice as black is flattering while the flora design makes it more eye-catching. But what’s special about the dress is the bardot neckline as it’s more daring than the royal usually wears. She should do it more often as it really suits her – it allows her to show some skin in a regal way. What do you think?

And whose dress wowed you the most? What would you have worn? You can catch all the action on BBC iPlayer and find out who won what here. Our British actors and actresses did us proud!

AMFAR Charity Gala: The Stars’ Statement Outfits

AMFAR – the American Foundation for Aids Research, always ensures fun is a vital part of the fundraising. Their events during the Cannes film festival are legendary with a super glamorous dress code and stars gathering for a five course Champagne meal and post-dinner entertainment by a world-famous star. Their recent event in New York was equally lavish and as it was sponsored by high-end jeweller Harry Winston, no expense was spared on making sure that the catering and entertainment were top notch.

The charity raises money by charging for the tickets with every single guest paying a whopping £10,000 a ticket. If you’ve spent that much on a party then you don’t want to skimp on the dress so the celebs and socialite guests all looked ready for The Oscars. In fact, it’s a great warm-up for The Oscars and useful for us to look at for inspiration about what to wear for Spring balls and parties. Time goes so quickly, party season will be here before we know it.

Let’s have a closer look at the stars’ stunning outfits:

Ellie Goulding

Ellie looked fierce and fabulous in a sequin maxi dress that complemented both her skin tone and her hair. A bronze colour makes skin look more golden and blonde hair look shinier, which are only good things. Not only that but sequins are so eye-catching – this dress would turn heads all night long.

Alessandra Ambrosio

White always grabs attention and Alessandra’s white maxi dress is dazzling. With her hair pulled back, she’s working the outfit to make a statement. Notice that the shape of the dress is sleek and sophisticated, which is important if you’re wearing white so that it doesn’t look too bridal.

Adriana Lima

The Victoria’s Secret model kept more of her curves hidden than usual in a long sleeve black maxi dress, but the plunge neck adds a gorgeous edge. Mesh and lace detail are really fashionable right now, adding a luxe edge and then a red lipstick completes the look. Stunning!

Scarlett Johansson

The American actress decided for a power dressing outfit and it suits her! With her cropped her, she totally pulls off the androgynous look with her trouser suit and she looks super comfortable in it. If you want to look sophisticated, a trouser suit is ideal.

Heidi Klum

Heidi looked fresh and pretty in a black maxi dress embellished with a floral design. As she’s got world class legs she wants to show them off and a thigh split enables her to do this. Black sandals enable her to lengthen her legs even more to help her walk around with confidence, knowing she looks statuesque and fabulous.

It’s great to see Iman back out and looking her best again after the tragic death of her husband David Bowie last year. Grief doesn’t have to affect your style as she showed in a scarlet red maxi dress with fishtail hem. The dress hugs every curve before flaring out into a full skirt, flattering her figure and making her look so youthful. Go Iman!

Paris Hilton

The American heiress doesn’t always get it right when it comes to fashion, but this gold dress hits the spot perfectly. The waist detail and bracelet cuffs give the impression of a bronzed Greek Goddess. What do you think of this look?

Whose dress wowed you the most? Bring on the Spring parties!

Celebrity Smart Casual Looks At Oscars Nominees Lunch

Between the Oscars nominations announcement on 24 January and the date of the awards on 26 February, the nominees’ schedule is packed. Not only do they have hours of dress fittings to ensure that they look the best they’ve ever looked on the Oscars red carpet and even more hours of doing interviews with worldwide media, but there’s a traditional Oscars lunch held at the luxurious Beverly Hills Hilton.

This is a chance for the celebs to have a relaxed chat to some of the other nominees and celebrate the fact they’re nominated. And it’s a chance for us to see how the celebs do smart casual. As it’s a lunch, they don’t have to wear formal red carpet dresses but they still have to look glamorous. It’s great inspiration for us if we have weddings, business lunches or the races to dress up for soon.

Let’s have a closer look at the stars who best pulled off the smart daywear dress code:

Emma Stone

She wins award after award for her role in La La Land and Emma Stone is feeling confident right now. It takes guts to be brave enough to wear a jumpsuit during the day but that means the rewards are greater when you pull it off like Emma’s done. The cropped wide legs of the black jumpsuit mean that it’s really on trend and also keep it more cool than a more fitted jumpsuit. The one shoulder detail adds an extra edge and shows off her personality and she gets away with it as she’s wearing the jumpsuit rather than it wearing her. It just shows if you like a jumpsuit, then it is possible to pull one off for day – just pick the style well.

Naomie Harris

It’s so great to see a British actress up for an award and even better when they consistently look fabulous at Oscars events. It’s her first ever Oscars nomination for her role in Moonlight, and she has obviously got a top stylist on board because she’s looked amazing ever since she was nominated. In this beige midi dress. she looks smart but also feminine, which is a difficult combination to master. Wearing her hair down helps as does soft ‘no make-up’ make-up and of course, the barely-there sandals add an extra pretty edge.

Michelle Williams

With her cropped platinum blonde bob and pink mini dress, Michelle looks like something out of the swinging 60s. She’s nominated for her role in the dark, gritty drama Manchester by the Sea, so she goes the opppsite way when she’s not working and looks bright and pretty and girly. A slightly vintage look always turns heads on the red carpet as it’s that little bit different and Michelle wears it well.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole has been doing the awards ceremony circuit for her role in LION and she’s been Oscar nominated before – she knows exactly what she’s doing. In her long sleeve white dress, she looks super smart. Without the belt, this may look a bit dowdy but it enhances her slim waist and makes her look feminine rather than frumpy. The gold sandals are a pretty addition – she’s made the dress her own and she looks sleek and super sophisticated.

Natalie Portman

There’s a buzz that Natalie’s going to win Best Actress for her role in Jackie as she portrays the former President’s wife’s emotions beautifully in the film centred around the fortnight after JFK’s assassination. Even though she’s heavily pregnant, she’s still putting an effort in to look groomed and gorgeous. Maternity fashion has vastly improved these days as us ladies deserve nights out even when we’re expecting.

Ruth Negga

The Irish actress has a nod for her role in Loving about inter-racial relationships back in the 60s. It’s a film with a serious message but Ruth looks fresh and pretty in a yellow top and a gorgeous faux-leather skirt. Wearing a two-piece rather than a dress can be more flattering as the skirt cinches in at the waist and flares out at the bottom to give her a lovely hourglass shape. If she dresses this well by day, I can’t wait to see what she wears for the main Oscars ceremony!

Whose smart causal outfit did you like the most? Remember these ideas for the races or spring weddings!

Celebrity Style Steal: Karlie Kloss

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is one of the world’s most powerful models. Not only does she sashay down the catwalk like a Queen but she has her own cookie business, she has a computer coding school for kids, she’s BFF’s with Taylor Swift and she has a multi-millionaire investor boyfriend, Joshua Kushner. I’m exhausted just thinking about all that!

No matter what she does, she always looks cool, calm and in control. This comes from picking the perfect outfit for every occasion. You can tell she puts a lot of thought into what she needs her clothes to say about her. If she’s dressing for business, for example, she knows how to rock a blazer look.

Just like us she works hard and plays hard so let’s have a closer look at her best work and play look. She’s put the effort into thinking about it and we can simply copy to make a great impression every time – at both work and play events.

Karlie, the businesswoman

For business meetings, Karlie combines a smart blazer with a cool leather skirt leaving no doubt that she’s in control and she wants to inject some personality into formal attire. We can do the same with a striking leather skirt like the Vero Moda Shane leather ruffle PU skirt. As the skirt is such a statement piece, keep the top half simple with a white t-shirt like the V by Very perfect t-shirt and a statement blazer like the V by Very jacquard jacket. Notice that there are lots of accessories to complete the look as Karlie’s thought about the right bag, shoes and sunglasses.  The Wallis Christy low-cut shoe boots are similar to Karlie’s as is theTed Baker leather shoulder bag. Finish with black Rayban Wayfarer sunglasses for the ultimate fashionista edge.

Karlie at leisure

On her recent trip to Australia, Karlie closed the show in a divine black maxi dress, which is the perfect party dress for a glamorous night of fun. The thigh-high split makes the dress more playful but its also super sophisticated – you could talk to anyone in a dress like this. It’s like the V by Very structured maxi dress. Some killer heels like the Ted Baker Saviy court shoes in patent black will make you walk taller and hold your head even higher as you’ll feel long, lean and confident.

What did you think of her outfits? It’s refreshing to see it’s not too complicated to copy a supermodel’s style!

50 Shades Darker Film Premiere: Best Dressed

The 50 Shades trilogy of books broke sales records around the world, but can the films do equally well? The film based on the second book, 50 Shades Darker, had its world premiere in LA ahead of the film’s release on Valentine’s Day. If what the stars wore is any indication of how well the film will do then expect big things as there were some seriously pretty dresses on the black carpet.

Even though the film is dark and sultry, most stars opted for bright and beautiful dresses for the premiere. This challenged our expectations and made us look twice, plus look forward to spring at the same time. Wearing colour always cheers up a party. Let’s have a closer look at how the celebs wore it:

Dakota Johnson

She’s the star of the film and she looked like a Princess on the black carpet in a beige maxi dress. It’s a very simple dress but that’s why it looks so classy. There’s a hint of cleavage and everything else is covered, making it a real change from what we see in the film. If you’re used to flashing the flesh,  try a dress like this and you’ll blow everyone’s mind.

Rita Ora

Rita has an acting role in the film playing Christian Grey’s sister and you can tell she’s proud of it by how much she dressed up at the premiere. This green maxi dress is a ‘look-at-me’ dress, and she looks fabulous in it. The high sandals make her legs look longer and more toned and she stands with attitude as she feels confident in her gorgeous dress. Love it!

Bella Heathcote

Bella’s a rising star, but she has the premiere look nailed! She knows how to make an impression in her gold mini dress. A dress like this looks fairly modest from the top half and then you look down and see that there’s nothing there! It tricks the eye and makes people look twice and that’s what you want if you want to get noticed!

Ashleigh La Throp

It’s Ashleigh’s first time in the 50 Shades trilogy and so she also wanted to create an impression, which she certainly did in her pink dress. The colour is so striking! However, there are no ruffles or embellishment as it’s a simple strapless shape, which makes it more elegant. When choosing colour, it’s safer to opt for a classic shape to turn heads for the right reasons rather than it seeming like you are trying too hard.

Who do you think looked the best? Will you watch the film?

SAG Awards 2017: Top 10 Best Dressed Celebrities

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are a little bit different from other awards ceremonies as the actors and actresses vote for each other. The trophies mean a lot to the winners as it means they are popular among their peers and we all like to feel valued in the workplace, don’t we?

The other interesting thing about this awards show is that there is no host as the presenters of each award are so well-known, they keep the entertainment going. Presenters of awards this year included Viola Davis, Salma Hayek, Jonah Hill, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Ashton Kutcher, John Legend, James Marsden, Gina Rodriguez, Denzel Washington. It was so star-studded!

This means that we have a lot of glamorous gowns to look at for formal dress inspiration. Let’s get straight to the top 10 best dressed:
(1) Emma Stone

Emma won yet another award for La La Land and she looked stunning as she collected it in a black maxi dress. She’s finding her own red carpet style now, usually black-based but with an edge and this dress had two differences with its lace detail and with its floral embellishment. In fact, every time you look at this dress you notice something new and that’s why it works perfectly to make sure Emma gets the red carpet welcome she deserves.

(2) Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen loves a dress with a side split and she also stayed true to her red carpet style in a long sleeve black dress with a thigh-high split. The red carpet is not the time to be taking risks with a style that you’ve never tried before because if you get it wrong then everyone will notice. Be safe with your style and you won’t regret it!

(3) Nicole Kidman

Wow! Nicole really stood out in her sequin green maxi dress. The colour is mermaid-like, while the peacock detail on the shoulders is just fabulous. If you’re feeling fierce and like you want to show off for some reason – maybe it’s your birthday – then a green dress is the ideal ‘look-at-me’ outfit.

(4) Amy Adams

Amy was recently snubbed at The Oscars for her role in Arrival, but she put on a brave face at the SAG Awards. She looked classy and elegant in a black maxi dress, showing that she’s had the last laugh. There’s no better revenge than turning up somewhere looking fabulous and that’s definitely what Amy did.

(5) Kate Hudson

Kate looked seriously dramatic in a black mesh maxi dress with slicked back hair and a dark red lipstick that complimented the colour of her clutch bag. Although the dress is a simple enough shape, the devil is in the detail and it’s the hair, make-up and accessories that make this look. What do you think? It’s a change from the golden glow that she usually gives off!

(6) Evan Rachel Wood

How gorgeous is this velvet trouser suit? The actress looked powerful and strong on the red carpet, but the luxurious material and pretty colour makes us feel like she’s still made an effort. You have to be brave to wear something different like this but seeing Evan Rachel Wood makes me want to try it on and if it doesn’t suit me then I’d revert to something safer…

(7) Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten really turned heads in this white maxi dress with it’s lovely ruffle detail. The shape is flattering due to it’s slimline top and wide skirt, which makes her waist look small. A statement necklace completes the look and makes it all look more expensive!

(8) Sophie Turner

The Game of Thrones actress was a gorgeous lady in red at the awards in a classy red maxi dress. The shape is simple but the colour makes it stand out and she wears it well as she doesn’t bother with any accessories except a bold lip and that makes it seem as if she’s wearing the dress rather than it wearing her.

(9) Sofia Vergara

The Modern Family actress looked fresh and pretty in a prom dress with high black platform sandals. When everyone else is wearing maxi dresses, it does stand out and she wears it well. If you don’t feel comfortable in a maxi dress then don’t worry as Sofia shows that the midi dress can look equally glamorous and red carpet ready.

(10) Naomie Harris

The Bond actress was brave enough to take a risk and stand out from the crowd in a silk striped jumpsuit. This look may not be for everyone but she showed that us Brits don’t follow the crowd and can set trends rather than follow them and that’s a powerful statement to make on the red carpet. I like her attitude!

Who do you think looked the best? These celebs are now going to have to top these outfits at The Oscars. Do you think they can get any more glamorous?

National TV Awards: Top 10 Best Dressed Stars

The National TV Awards (NTAs) is the first big outing of the year for many celebs. The awards, which are presented by the lovable Dermot O’Leary, take place at the O2 Arena in London and the 20,000 capacity venue is filled with famous faces from soap, drama and entertainment. Think of your favourite TV show and there’s a good chance that it’s stars were there, watching the awards and partying afterwards!

As it’s like The Oscars of the British TV industry, all the celebs wore bold and eye-catching maxi dresses as they knew that millions of eyes would be on them walking the red carpet. Wearing the right dress could be a career-defining moment for some celebrities as it could get them in the public eye so they get considered for more roles. These 10 celebs pulled it off better than the rest, nailing the Black Tie dress code with stunning results:

(1) Faye Brooks

The Coronation Street actress won an award for Best Newcomer and her dress deserved an award of its own for being so gorgeous. Black and gold is always a classic combination and what’s really beautiful about it is that it hugged her figure at the top half and then flared out into a full skirt, which made her look super slim. The mesh material is also a bit different and flowed out as she moved, making everyone stop and stare. Watch out for big things to come for this beautiful star!

(2) Holly Willoughby

Holly was part of the award-winning This Morning team and she looked sweet and feminine at the start of the night in a pink maxi dress. The light pink colour compliments her blonde hair beautifully and the cinched in waist highlights the difference between her bust and waist – she has a gorgeous hourglass shape that she’s quite rightly proud of. After they’d won the award, Holly partied until 4am so she’s really not that innocent but this dress does make her look it. So if you want to behave badly, wear a pretty dress and you might get away with it!

(3) Caroline Flack

The TV presenter looked stunning in a strapless red dress. We’re used to seeing her in jumpsuits and shorts, but when she wears a dress she looks stunning. She should wear them more often, particularly if it shows off her athletic arms and upper body like this one. Caroline must have been hitting the gym recently and she’s found a dress that shows that off.

(4) Michelle Keegan

It’s the first time Michelle’s walked the NTAs red carpet in her own right rather than being part of Coronation Street so she dressed a bit differently than usual. In Corrie, she used to regularly win Sexiest Soap Actress and she dressed to embrace that with bodycon dresses and figure-hugging jumpsuits. Now she’s trying to be a more serious actress, she wore a loose white maxi dress and looks delicate and elegant. What do you think?

(5) Tess Daly

Tess was part of the award-winning Strictly Come Dancing team and was one of the first on stage to collect the award. When you wear a jumpsuit, you can really move! So if you want to hit the dancefloor or walk around chatting to all your friends, consider wearing a jumpsuit.

(6) Kym Marsh

The Coronation Street actress has had a devastating storyline recently, but she shrugged that off and shone in a gold and white dress. White and gold go together just as well as black and gold with the added bonus that it gives you more of a golden glow as white lifts the skin tone. The gold highlights in her hair add to the beautifully bronzed effect even more.

(7) Jorgie Porter

The Hollyoaks actress looked like an Oscars movie star in her cream maxi dress, with an extravagant curly hair up-do. She shows off her toned arms and a hint of side boob, keeping everything else covered and yet she manages to grab everyone’s attention. Cream is also a good colour to turn heads being easier to wear than white but equally eye-catching.

(8) Stacy Soloman

Wow! Stacey Solomon speaks her mind on Loose Women and she wears what she wants on the red carpet. This red maxi dress is bold and it’s daring and Stacey knows that as she poses with attitude with a hand on her hip, stroking those sequins. The touch of red lipstick tops off the look perfectly!

(9) Ola Jordan

The Strictly Come Dancing star walked the red carpet without her husband James Jordan but she didn’t need him as she had enough star presence in that bold blue maxi dress. The fishtail train of the dress highlights her slim physique while the colour makes everyone stop and look twice. An electric blue like this suits brunettes as well as blondes – it’s surprisingly flattering.

(10) Vicky Pattison

Although the TV presenter wore a black dress, she made great use of accessories with blue earrings and a blue bracelet. Also, the dress hugs her figure so much, perfectly complimenting her bust and bum that the colour is irrelevant because the shape of the dress is what makes it – and her – beautiful.

Which dress – or jumpsuit – do you like the most? It’s lovely to see a bit of colour on the red carpet – from light pinks to scarlet reds to bright blues, colour makes a formal outfit a lot more fabulous.

Paris Fashion Week: Who’s On The FROW?

Paris Fashion Week is a celebration of couture. The designers have tapped into their imaginations and sent some fabulous shapes, prints and embellishments down the catwalks as a result. The 15-minute shows are more entertaining than a West-End musical or a big-budget film as they leave the audience open-mouthed and excited about fashion, and the tickets are fought over by celebs who want to be part of the action.

So who made the list this year and what did they wear for their big moment? The stakes are high for the stars as if they fail to make an impression then they won’t be asked to sit in the front row in future, so everyone takes a lot of time on their appearance. If you want to make an impression for the right reasons, then copy these celebs who looked gorgeous on the FROW.

Olivia Palermo at Schiparelli

As it’s chilly out, Olivia made her coat part of her fashion statement. The military coat has an effortless elegance thanks to it’s eye-catching button detail and unique neckline. When you wear a coat like this, you’re automatically on trend – no matter what you have on underneath!

Nicole Kidman at Armani Prive

Nicole is one of Girorgio Armani’s ambassadors and wore a signature black long sleeve maxi dress with some pretty black heeled sandals. Sometimes, you don’t have to have any embellishment if the dress fits you well. A black maxi dress has the added advantage of being really flattering as it’s slimming and Nicole’s bow tie at the waist highlights that even more.

Bella Hadid street style

She’s one of the Queens of the catwalk and she nails off-duty chic as well. It’s always good to look at Bella for inspiration as she mixes colour and texture beautifully. Her cream jumper dress looks gorgeous with brown over the knee boots and yet it’s such a simple look. It’s all about how you wear it…

Kendall Jenner street style

Wow, Kendall is becoming edgy! That gold bomber jacket got her noticed from miles away as she made her way back to her hotel after a show. Because she wears it with plain black tailored trousers she gets away with it. A statement jacket can be a lot of fun!

Kylie Minogue at Schiaperelli

The pop Princess doesn’t often attend fashion shows, but she showed she fits in by wearing a cute short sleeve midi dress with a black blazer. She looks feminine and elegant with her hair swept back into a French chignon. Again, it’s a simple look but that’s part of it’s appeal. You don’t need to be fussy to look fabulous!

Vanessa Paradis at Chanel

A checked print looks set to be popular this season as monochrome returns with a twist. The French actress looked stunning as she wore her checked top with black trousers and a statement belt. She looks comfortable as well as fashionable, which is important when you want to go from show to party and then to a restaurant. You could do anything in an outfit like this.

Alessandra Ambrosio street style

The Victoria’s Secret model made the streets of Paris her catwalk in a mesh maxi skirt, a fluffy black jumper and a cute French beret. Again, this is monochrome at it’s finest and you could wear this from day to night if you replace the jumper with a vest top for dancing all night long. A maxi skirt is always fun on the dancefloor.

Pixie Lott at Schiaperelli

Pixie’s never been shy when it comes to taking risks and she did just that by picking a bold pink jumper to wear on the front row. With her blonde hair, she’s in danger of looking like a doll but she embraces that and makes the Barbie look work for her by adding a pink purse for good measure. If you’re going to go bold, don’t apologise so that everyone knows you’re happy with the way you look and that will make everyone jealous!

Victoria Beckham at International Woolmark Prize

This look isn’t for everyone, but Victoria Beckham at least made a fashion statement when she collected the International Woolmark Prize. She looked comfortable in her blue blouse and orange trousers as there was no risk of a wardrobe malfunction and that made the look more wearable. If you’re going to wear a bold colour block like this then you need to compromise with the shape of the clothes so you don’t look as if you’re trying too hard.

Who do you think looked the most chic and stylish? It’s good to see the celebs wearing colours and embellishment and having some fun with fashion as it indicates that there’s more of that to come.

Celebrity Style Steal: Three Ways To Copy Emma Stone

Have you seen the film La La Land? Whether you’re a musicals fan or not, you’ll be blown away by Emma Stone’s acting performance and dancing ability. Her character makes us feel like it’s acceptable to chase our dreams and we instantly warm to her and wish she was our friend.

As Emma does interviews to promote the film and chats to journalists on the red carpets of film premieres, we see that she’s just as lovable as her character and dresses immaculately. She sets trends rather than follows them as she has a unique, individual sense of style and loves bright colours and prints that contrast nicely with her red hair. However, she can also pull of black, which she does by choosing a dress with a slightly different shape. She’s definitely not conventional!

We’ve picked some of her best outfits and found ways to copy, which is great if you want to shake up your wardrobe this year. If you’re stuck in a rut, you won’t be after following Emma.

The film dress

In La La Land, Emma’s character dances in the twilight in a bright yellow dress and starts to fall in love. A yellow dress really attracts the opposite sex as they can’t fail to notice you! A dress with a wider skirt is ideal to dance in like the V by Very short sleeve tunic dress. Then you need some dancing shoes with a chunky heel like the Office salute two part court shoes. Enjoy!

The premiere dress

When walking the red carpet to promote the film, Emma went all out to ensure that she’d be in the magazines and newspapers for the right reasons! She looked sensational in a strappy red dress that showed off a hint of cleavage. The dress is a bit different as it’s a deep claret red rather than a scarlet so it’s less brassy and more classy. It reminds me of the Superdry Alexandra Vee skater dress, which would look even better with pretty barely there sandals like the V by Very Buttercup mid heel ankle strap sandals.

The interviews dress

Sometimes, she has to be serious but she’s never dull. Her short sleeve black maxi dress has a lovely hemline and a cinched in waist, just like the V by Very structured shoulder maxi dress. She also livens it up with some gold shoes like the River Island Pia platform sandals. You’re ready for business in a dress like this but you’ll still feel like yourself.

Which look did you like the most? It’s time to have some fun with fashion!

Brit Awards Nominations: All The Goss

The Brits are coming! The 37th Brit Awards take place in London’s O2 Arena on 22 February and we have just find out what celebs will be in the audience, waiting nervously to see if they’ve won. This is because the nominations were read out by Emma Willis at the weekend in a star-studded show that was like a mini-Brit Awards.

You could see everything live on ITV as Emma Willis read out the names and there were performances by Rag n Bone Man, Craig David, Calum Scott and Christine and the Queens.

Emma looked stunning in a sequin jacket and a black jumpsuit, which was gorgeous to look at but still comfortable enough to run around the stage in so she could do her hosting duties. She’s used to wearing heels and going up and down stairs on the Big Brother set so she kept up the glamour with a lovely pair of classic black court shoes. Stunning!

Emeli Sande presented an award to Rag’n’Bone Man – the Critic’s Choice Awards. She’s a previous winner along with Sam Smith and Adele and the group of them have had incredible success with Bond film soundtracks, No.1 singles and albums and global stardom. Watch out for Rag’n’Bone Man!

What did you think of Emeli’s green coat? Green is a lovely colour for spring and even winter when it’s dark outside to remind us that Spring is coming. You can wear anything underneath and it will still look like you’ve made an effort in a green coat like this.

One of the most energetic live performances was by Christine and The Queens, who is nominated for Best International Female Solo Act going up against Beyonce. What an honour! However, there’s no mistaking that she’s an individual in her own right, keeping her own tomboy-ish sense of style so that her music takes centre stage. Celebrity Style Steal: Bella Hadid At Work And Play

Bella Hadid had a very successful 2016 and that looks set to continue this year. She was named Model Of The Year at the Models.com awards and the GQ Men of The Year awards, she walked her first ever Victoria’s Secret catwalk show and dazzled on the red carpet at the Cannes film festival and 2017 shows no sign of slowing down.

She’s single and protective about her love life, recently hitting the headlines for unfollowing her former friend Selena Gomez when Selena went on a date with her ex, The Weeknd. But Bella is having the last laugh over Selena as men are falling over themselves to date her – she can have her pick!

If you look closely at what she wears during the day and at night, her outfits aren’t that complicated. She wears classics well rather than trying anything too ‘out there’, which is good news for us as it makes it easier to copy. Let’s have a closer look:

The cool casual outfit:

If you are rushing around and going from appointment to appointment you want something you can be comfortable in and something that will keep you cool and make you look cool. A white top and blue jeans are a classic combination and the way to update this for 2017 is to get ripped jeans with a high waist and tuck your top in. The V by Very Ella high waist rip skinny jeans are the ideal starting point and would look lovely with the River Island umbrella sleeve top. Then the finishing touch would be some Chelsea Boots – this season’s most popular and wearable ankle boots. The V by Very Felicity leather flat Chelsea boots will help you feel smart, stylish and comfortable if you have a busy day.

The drop dead gorgeous party outfit:

If you’re going out then why go half-heartedly? As we’ve all had a break from partying after the Christmas rush, we want to return in style in January. Bella looked incredible when she went out in a gorgeous, figure-hugging, faux-leather / latex dress, which is similar to the Miss Selfridge PU cami dress. A dress like this will make you feel so confident and proud of your figure as it hugs every curve. Shoes like the Miss KG Ava two part court shoes will help you walk even taller with your head held high.

Are you ready to indulge your inner Bella Hadid? It’s easier than you think to copy her style!

Best Dressed: Marie Claire Magazine’s Image Awards

Marie Claire magazine hosted it’s second ever awards ceremony to honour the people that help make the stars gorgeous and grateful celebs turned up to present awards to their glam squad!

The magazine realises that a whole team of stylists, hair stylists and make-up artists are behind one red carpet ready celebrity and why shouldn’t those individuals deserve recognition for their work? The stars know that they wouldn’t look their best without their team and so they are happy to give back at the awards ceremony. And as they walked the red carpet at the start of the night, they showed off the work that their ‘image makers’ had done. Many wore black outfits to make their hair and make-up stand out more, with the notable exception of Kylie Jenner who was honouring Balmain creative director Oliver Rousteing. She certainly picked one of Balmain’s most spectacular outfits to shine a spotlight on Rousteing’s design skills.

Let’s have a closer look at what the stars wore to look good without taking attention away from their team of beauty helpers. It’s great inspiration if we want to look sophisticated and pretty without making it seem as if we’ve tried too hard:

Jessica Alba

Jessica looked chic and stylish with bootcut trousers and a smart black blazer with a black clutch bag. Her hair is smooth and sleek and her make-up is bronzed with a light brown smokey eye. Nothing is attention-grabbing in its own right but the whole look is perfectly put together. She’s thought about every detail of her look and that’s why she looks gorgeous.

Kylie Jenner

The youngest member of the Kardashian / Jenner clan takes big risks when it comes to fashion. Somehow she gets away with this purple maxi dress as she wears it with attitude. Look at her pout and slightly raised eyebrow, challenging us to question her! Notice that she keeps her make-up simple with a nude lip and tousled hair rather than an up-do. This makes the dress get all the attention that it deserves.

Cindy Crawford

She was one of the first original supermodels and Cindy Crawford still has it in a long sleeve black maxi dress. The bodycon shape shows off her lovely hourglass shape and the mesh detail at the sides of the skirt help with the body contouring, giving anyone who wears it a long, sleek silhouette. Barely-there sandals take the look to another level, literally!

Pati Dubroff and Margot Robbie

Pati is one of Hollywood’s most respected make-up artists and Margot is one of Hollywood’s up and coming stars so it was only natural that Margot should present the award. As Margot is so beautiful, it’s hard for her not to upstage Pati but she does it while looking lovely in a black faux-leather dress. What do you think?

Shay Mitchell

The Pretty Little Liars actress showed just how fabulous a black jumpsuit can look. With it’s one shoulder style and cut-out detail, this has more to look at than most dress. She looks strong and fierce in this jumpsuit, she’s going places in Hollywood.

Elizabeth Olsen

The Captain America actress was one of the few stars to wear colour, but she knows what suits her and she wore it well. Elizabeth, like her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, has always had a quirky, unique style and dresses different from everyone else and she looked lovely in the pink dress. She made other stars very jealous!

Who do you think was the best dressed? It shows you don’t have to wear something bold and attention-grabbing to look gorgeous.

How The Stars Celebrated The Start Of 2017 In Style

Happy New Year! Last year doesn’t matter anymore. It’s time for a fresh new start! 2017 is a blank new canvas and we are free to plan new goals and work towards achieving our targets.

This should be cause for celebration as we head into a new year that’s full of potential. The celebs’ definitely think so as they went all out to celebrate the end of 2016 and the start of a fresh, new chapter. Let’s have a look at who did what and look at their party clothes so we can start 2017 as we mean to go on – by looking our best!

Mariah Carey

The ultimate diva never looks anything less than 100% fabulous and on New Year’s Eve she stepped things up a gear with a stunning LBD. Mariah performed in Times Square as the clock struck midnight and led the crowd into a sing-song of Auld Lang Syne. After that, she was criticised on social media for failing to sing the following song but she didn’t let it bother her as the black bodycon mini dress was so fabulous, she can get away with anything.

Nicole Scherzinger

Scherzy saw the New Year in on holiday and the pic she posted to Instagram made me so jealous! When I recovered, I thought that nothing was going to be gained from being envious. Instead, why don’t we all plan a beach escape sometime this year and pack a gorgeous gold bikini like Nicole’s?

Emily Ratajowski

Metallics are always good for a party and Emily looked stunning in her silver top. It’s very similar to the top that Kendall Jenner wore to her 21st birthday earlier this year. If you want to party like a celeb this year, silver is the answer.

Jesy Nelson

How hot does the Little Mix singer look in the photo she posted to Instagram before her night out? The combination of a high waisted midi pencil skirt and a bralet makes her waist look slimmer as it shows off the slimmest part. Barely there sandals make her legs longer and leaner. Her ex must be kicking himself!

Kate Wright

She  may be from TOWIE, but Essex’s Kate Wright looked like an Arabian Princess as she dazzled in Dubai. Gold is also a lovely colour to wear on a night out as it gets you in the mood, it looks luxurious and it never fails to make people stop and stare. Her gold skirt is especially gorgeous.

Fearne Cotton

Fearne hosted a Top Of The Pops New Year’s Eve special and showed off this dressing room selfie before recording the show. When hosting an important event, it’s vital to give yourself confidence by wearing something that flatters you and Fearne’s certainly done that with her black midi dress and chunky black platform heels that make her look feminine and fierce at the same time.

Daisy Lowe

Daisy’s got a new job as the face and body of Triumph lingerie and so she showed off one of Triumph’s bras during a New Year’s Eve bathroom selfie. Daisy recently appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and it looks like dancing has been amazing for her figure. What more of an excuse do you need to hit the dancefloor?

Whose style do you admire the most? There’s nothing stopping you from achieving a similar look in 2017. Enjoy!

Golden Globes 2017: The Hottest Celeb Outfits

The Golden Globe Awards are traditionally one of the most star-studded events of January and the 2017 show was as A’list as ever! The stars from film and television gathered at the Beverly Hilton in LA to find out who had won what and to gossip with their fellow stars. The Globes are as much a networking event as they are an awards ceremony as they’re the first awards ceremony of the year and a chance for all the celebs to catch up with each other after the holidays.

As celebrities are a competitive group and knew they would be seeing all their rivals as well as their friends, everyone went to an extra effort to make sure their outfits would get them on the Best Dressed list. In fact, the stars could measure how good their night would be by seeing how long the photographers stopped to take their picture as they walk down the red carpet. If the photographers wanted them to stop for ages, it’s a compliment and gives them lots of confidence that their outfit has totally worked.

At this year’s awards, the 74t Golden Globes, there were several celebs that brought their A’game. There also seemed to be a theme as there was lots of bling and sparkle! All celebrities wore something that shone, either in the colour of their dress or in the embellishments on the dress. Let’s take a closer look:

Reese Witherspoon

There can be no denying that Reese’s dress shone. Her yellow dress had the effect of making everyone look twice. It’s a lovely pastel colour so it looked soft against the colour of her skin rather than bold and she topped it off with a statement gold necklace. She looked beautiful but it didn’t look like she’d tried too hard as the colour was light rather than brassy.

Naomie Harris

It was great to see a British actress on the red carpet who is successful internationally for her role in James Bond and looked every inch the acting diva in a gold maxi dress. She’s a great ambassador for the UK showing that us Brits have style and talent!

Naomi Campbell

The other Naomi also looked stunning, but then what else could you expect from someone who’s been a leading fashion model for more than 25 years? Her silver dress certainly shone on the red carpet and contrasted against the black stripes of the dress. The stripes are only small, which means that the silver colour stands out more – it’s a clever trick if you want to make a superstar arrival! Silver and gold always stand out at a party.

Nicole Kidman

Another way to make silver stand out is to contrast it with white like Nicole Kidman did. She looked incredible in a white and silver maxi dress with a long silk train. Silk and sequins – how can you get more fabulous than that?

Sofia Vergara

The Modern Family actress always gets onto the Best Dressed lists and this year is no exception! Her gold dress is truly show-stopping and she lets it stand out properly because she pulls her hair back tightly to let the dress take centre stage. With a dress like this you have to wear it properly or don’t go for gold. With gold, there are no half measures.

Emma Stone

Emma looked pretty and feminine in a cream maxi dress embellished with silver stars. This is no ordinary dress, it’s a dress for someone with personality. If you like to be one of a kind, try to find a dress with a unique pattern as patterns are hard to copy.

Drew Barrymore

Drew channelled the 1920s with a Great Gatsby style cream dress with silver embellishment. Can you see what we mean about gold and silver being the colours of the night now? A vintage style dress at an awards ceremony or formal occasion always goes down well as it’s a talking point. You’ve kept to the dress code but you’ve done it in a clever way and you can guarantee everyone will ask Drew where she got her dress.

Blake Lively

The new mum looked super slender and slim in a black maxi dress. But this is not just any ordinary black dress thanks to the long train and the gold detail around the hips and the neckline. Black and gold are a classic combination and with this dress you have the slimming effect of black and the party-ready effect of gold.

Kristen Bell

The Frozen actress wowed the crowds in a black sequin maxi dress. There are a lot of sequins in this dress! Again, it stands out from an average black dress due to all the sparkles. Sparkles are the way forward right now!

Whose dress was the most mesmerising, in your opinion? Are you ready to sparkle more in 2017?

The Best Ever Golden Globe Awards Outfits

Just when the weather gets into the minus figures at night and it gets dark really early, awards season comes around and cheers us all up. The Golden Globes is one of the first awards in the series of award ceremonies that climaxes in the Oscars at the end of February. The honours are given to stars in film and television so we see a lot more stars on the red carpet than we do at the Oscars but the dress code is equally fabulous. What’s not to like about all that red carpet glamour?

The 2017 Golden Globes take place on Sunday 8 January so in celebration of this year’s awards, let’s have a look at some of the best ever outfits worn to the Golden Globes. It’s January – what more excuse do we need to look at lovely party dresses to lift our spirits?

Jennifer Lawrence (2016)

Last year, J-Law won Best Actress in a Musical for the film Joy and she was definitely a winner in the fashion stakes too. Her red maxi dress was really striking because of it’s simple, elegant shape. If you’re wearing a bold colour then keeping the style of the dress simple gives your look more impact. It’s a sophisticated way to stand out.

Jennifer Lopez (2015)

JLo doesn’t do things by halves does she? She looked a cross between a Grecian Goddess and a mermaid at the 2015 awards. I love the way how her sparkly grey maxi dress flows out behind her as she walks so that she gets to stay on the red carpet for longer. Her dress has a plunging neckline and a high thigh split but technically it’s still a maxi dress so she’s not flashing as much flesh as she has done in previous years – very clever!

Lupita Nyongo’o (2014)

The Twelve Years a Slave actress suits bold colours and often wears a lot of colourful prints, but there was something especially striking about this sleeveless red maxi dress. It contrasts beautifully with her skin tone and it grabs everyone’s attention when it stands out on a dark night. If you want to arrive in style on a night out, a red dress like this will work every time.

Halle Berry (2011)

Halle looked so elegant in a black lace maxi dress when she walked the red carpet in 2011. This look is soft, pretty and feminine as the train of the skirt floats behind her in the breeze. In this outfit, she looks super elegant and the simple silver heels finish this look perfectly.

Charlize Theron (2012)

Wow! Talk about a statement dress. Charlize transforms a warm  toned cream maxi dress into something magnificent with the addition of a big bow and a thigh split. There’s no mistake that she’s wearing the dress rather than it wearing her as she pouts defiantly on the red carpet, knowing that she looks hot. A thigh split in a maxi dress has the effect of making you feel a little bit more fabulous – try it!

Beyonce (2009)

Beyonce knows a thing or two about dressing for an awards ceremony and always has – even back in 2009 she set pulses racing in a gorgeous gold maxi dress. Gold will always get you in the mood to party, however you’re feeling before you get dressed. If you’re feeling a bit low after December’s indulgences, get something gold on and it will transform your mindset and make you want to get back on the dancefloor where you belong!

Who do you think looked the best of the best? Don’t forget to tune into the awards on Sunday 8 January on E! from 11pm to see this year’s red carpet looks!

Movie Highlights: 2016 Recap And 2017 Predictions

In 2016 we’ve seen the release of some high-budget, spectacular blockbusters as well as some charming indie movies. Each movie release has usually been accompanied with a glitzy film premiere to make an impact in the newspapers, magazines and online to entice us all to watch the film.

As we approach 2017, let’s have a look at some of the highlights of 2016 to recap on the films and what the stars wore to the premieres. It’s always fun to look at the best of the best when it comes to outfits to inspire us to make an effort with what we wear ourselves. And then let’s look ahead to 2017 and find out what we can expect in terms of film and celebrities walking yet more red carpets. Showbiz never stops!

The film highlights of 2016 were:

Nocturnal Animals

Fashion designer Tom Ford’s second directorial effort is tense and dark but it’s also beautifully shot. Each frame is carefully crafted and every image is chosen for a reason. Nocturnal Animals will often leave you open mouthed at the beauty and simplicity of the set. It tells two stories—one about a morose art dealer in LA, played by Amy Adams (above), and the other a fictional tale she’s reading. Amy deserves an Oscar nomination for this emotionally captivating film. And she deserved some kind of fashion recognition for her outfit at the New York premiere in  a stunning red maxi dress. This is power dressing at its finest and a snub to anyone who dares suggest that redheads can’t wear red dresses!

The Revenant

Leonardo Di Caprio won Best Actor at the Oscars for his role in this film and it did well in general, winning three Oscars. The scenery in this movie is visually stunning as Leo’s character travels through dense woodland in treacherous weathers, while escaping native Indians and running for his life. However, at the premiere he look smooth and calm in a classic black suit. You wouldn’t expect anything less given that he’s had more than 20 years of acting in films and walking the red carpet at their premieres.

Bridget Jones’ Baby

We’ve waited 10 years for another Bridget Jones movie and now that it’s here it did not disappoint thanks to an attention-grabbing storyline. Bridget’s pregnant and doesn’t know who the father of her baby is. It could be her on-off lover Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth) or it could be a dating app entrepreneur (played by Patrick Dempsey) with whom she had a one-night stand at a musical festival. Either way, Bridget is warm, loveable and makes us feel better that we’re not the only ones with less than perfect lives. Her real-life alter ego Renee Zellwegger looked gorgeous at the film’s London premiere in a black one-shoulder maxi dress.

Bad Moms

This film starring Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell is one of the year’s most laugh out loud comedies, acknowledging that motherhood can be hard and that it can be hilarious. As it’s made by the directors of The Hangover movies, you can tell that the script will be awesome and the characters likeable. Kristen Bell wore the best outfit on the premiere trail, looking summery, fresh and pretty in a yellow midi dress embellished with flowers. You’ll cheer everyone up and get the party started in a dress like this.

This film caused a lot of controversy. Some loved it and some hated it. However, there was no hiding the fact that this was female focused and about a team of women that were strong and in charge. What’s not to like about that? Comedienne Melissa McCarthy was a tough paranormal researcher, who was feisty and fierce. She teams up with a physicist and an engineer for help and the women save New York City from ghosts. As it was a female focused movie, there was lots to look at on the red carpet but Leslie Jones made the most impact in a bold red maxi dress. Talk about stopping everyone in their tracks!

If you read Roald Dahl’s heartwarming The BFG as a child, you’ll likely be entranced by this big-screen adaptation. Sure, it’s a little long, but Steven Spielberg has gone to great lengths to make something that holds our attention. The film had the worldwide premiere in Cannes where British actress Rebecca Hall looked cute and pretty in a fabulous floral maxi dress. A floral dress is uplifting due to all the lovely colours, while the dark base for the flowers means that it’s also flattering.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Every Christmas needs a Star Wars movie! This is a prequel to the action, explaining the build-up to one of the previous movies so it’s suitable for everyone, whether you’ve watched the other films or not. What’s very cool about it is the star of the film is a woman. Move over Luke Skywalker! The heroine of this film is Jyn Erso, played  by Felicity Jones. She was also the star on the red carpet, looking radiant at the London premiere in a magical grey maxi dress.

What was your favourite movie of 2016?

In 2017, we can look forward to:

Beauty and The Beast

Starring Emma Watson, this is a live action re-imagining of the classic fairytale in the same way that Lily James played Cinderella in 2015. Ex Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens plays the Beast.

Transformers: The Last Knight

This looks likely to be a hit at the box office given that it’s trailer has already had more than 100 million views on YouTube. The film is directed by Michael Bay, with Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles from Age of Extinction, alongside Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro from the first three films.

The LEGO Batman movie

The original LEGO movie was one of the film highlights of 2014 with Pharrell Williams’ song Happy being a huge hit, so the LEGO Batman movie has a lot to live up to. This film contains all the classic batman characters like Batman, Robin and the joker but they’re made from LEGO.

T2 Trainspotting

Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) reunites with Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Begbie (Robert Carlyle) and other old friends after returning to Glasgow. The original Trainspotting was released in 1996 – 20 years ago – so will the older cast be able to hold our attention. As the original film was such a classic, no doubt a lot of people will watch it to find out.Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Johnny Depp is make in a role he’s brilliant at. Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Capt. Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Capt. Salazar, escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea including him. Capt. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the sea. It’s escapism at it’s finest.

One Direction’s Harry Styles makes his acting debut in Dunkirk, which is about the Allied soldiers in the Second World War. Stranded in Northern France, Harry’s regiment must make it to Dunkirk if there’s any hope of a rescue. The British Navy asks civilian boats to help and everyone struggles to save some (but not all) of the soldiers. This film is very dramatic and very emotional.

Spiderman: Homecoming

There have been a lot of versions of spiderman recently with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield taking turns to play Peter Parker. But now Tom Holland takes up the mantle and the film is about a movie Spiderman trying to get used to his new powers. The best thing about this film is that it stars Robert Downey Jr and his Ironman character Tony Stark, making reference to the fact that Ironman and Spiderman teamed up together in the Marvel movie, Captain America.

Are you excited about any movie in particular?

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year.

New Year’s Eve Inspiration: What The Celebs Did In 2016

Have you finalised your plans for New Year’s Eve or do you need a little more inspiration? There can be so much pressure at this time of year to have the perfect night. Do you go to a bar? A club? A pub? Do you know anyone who is throwing a house party or are would you host one yourself? There are just so many options to welcome in the new year.

If we want a New Year’s Eve party that will make everyone jealous on Instagram, then we need to look at what the celebs did last year. They were all over social media last New Year’s Eve night, showing off the cool things they were doing and making it known that they were having fun.

Let’s have a recap for some last-minute NYE inspiration:

Jourdan Dunn

Wow! This picture makes everyone jealous! New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to combine partying with a holiday like Jourdan did. Whether you go away for one night, for three or for a week, it’s good to have some time to clear your head so you can start 2017 on a fresh night. Imagine lying on a beach in your bikini to ease the new year hangover – bliss!

Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne

The girls also had a holiday over New Year’s Eve, spending 5 nights in Barbados and having crazy parties every day. Their break was a wild one rather than a reflective one but they let out all their steam so they could focus on work in 2017.

Demi Lovato

Every major city usually hosts public events with fireworks and live music, giving people the chance to come together for a happy reason. Demi performed at the event in Times Square, New York, while braving the chill in a gorgeous black faux fur jacket. She looked and sounded amazing!

Perri Edwards

She may have spent the previous New Year’s with her fiancé Zayn Malik, but after becoming single in 2015, Perri welcomed in 2016 with her closest girlfriends. And her friends went for a fancy dress theme, which Perri got fully involved in. Who needs men when you can dress as a pirate and be silly?

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

As they were about to become parents in 2016, Chrissy and John opted for a romantic holiday to Morocco where they dressed up for each other and saw in New Year’s Eve lit by candles. It’s not always about the size of your party if you spend the night with the one person you care about more than anyone else in the world. New Year’s Eve can be very special if you share it with your love.

Alexa Chung

Alexa was a glamorous cowboy at a dinner party, combining a dazzling white top with a trilby hat.  A dinner party is such a civilised way to welcome in the new year. Treating your body to luxury food and tasty drinks on the first day of a new year sets a precedent that you will do something to treat yourself in the coming weeks and months.  Also, if you have food with your drinks, you’re less likely to get a stinking hangover.

Whatever you do on New Year’s Eve, have a good one. Happy New Year!

Disney On Ice: Celebs’ Winter Fashion

Although it’s cold at this time of year, it can be nice to put on some warm and cosy layers and enjoy a picturesque and frosty winter’s evening. Ice-skating, or watching professional skaters put on a show, is a magical thing to do at this time of year. When the atmosphere is beautiful, you’ll be too in awe to think about the cold.

The Disney on Ice show, which is currently at London’s O2 Arena, is non-stop entertainment for adults and children, but you still need to dress up for the cold. On the first night, the celebs came out in their jumpers, blazers and trousers to meet the Disney characters from Frozen and Mickey Mouse.

If you’re planning on going ice-skating or for a night that involves being outside, then we can take a look at some of the celebrities for cosy dressing.

Billie Faiers

Billie showed that dressing up for winter doesn’t have to mean sacrificing on style or fit. Her little grey jumper perfectly shows off her neat baby bump while leather trousers are perfect for dressing up in chilly times, especially when worn with ankle boots. She looks so happy and part of that comes from picking the right outfit for an occasion.

Katie Piper

Katie’s wearing a lovely long sleeve lace top to meet Mickey Mouse, which is warmer than you think when worn with trousers. It’s got a high neck and long sleeves so it keeps the heat in, but she still looks like she’s made an effort. If you are going to a party on a really cold night then lace is your secret weapon.

Denise Van Outen

TV Presenter Denise was every inch the yummy mummy in a long sleeve tea dress, thick opaque tights and black ankle boots.

Kate Garraway

The host of Good Morning Britain dazzled in sequin leggings that would get any party started. If you’re wearing a top like that then you need to wear them with a plain black top and a black blazer as you don’t want anything to detract from those trousers – you have to wear them with pride. If they don’t keep you warm, then you’ll definitely get a warm glow from all the compliments you get.

Are you looking forward to Winter more now? No matter what, it’s an excuse to dress up…

Collateral Beauty Premiere: Best Of The Red Carpet

Collateral Beauty is being billed as THE film to see over Christmas and New Year. Starring Will Smith and Naomie Harris, this film will have you gripped from the moment it starts to the moment the credits roll.

Will plays an ad exec who had a glittering career until he lost his 6 year old child to cancer. Then he turned into a hermit who hates the world, didn’t  want to leave his house and was in danger of running his company into the ground. His colleagues all try to get him fired until he finds a therapy group run by the gorgeous Naomi Harris and the film takes a more positive turn. It’s a film that will grip you emotionally and have you laughing and crying at the same time, while making you realise that you are luckier than you think this Christmas.

Although the film has some dark moments, the European premiere was full of beautiful creatures in stunning dresses – lighting up a cold winter’s night in Leicester Square. Let’s have a closer look at some of the outfits that we’d love to copy this Christmas / New Year.

Naomie Harris

Naomie’s the star of the film and she was definitely the star of the premiere too. With a rusty printed brown dress embellished with ruffles and flowers, there was so much detail to look at and the brown and the white complemented her skin tone and gave her a golden glow. If you don’t want to wear black this festive season then you can take a lesson from Naomie and go for colour – it will mean that everyone will notice you and have dress envy.

Helen Mirren

Helen plays a character talking about death in the film, but she turned that on its head for the premiere. She looked chic and elegant in a lace red maxi dress. Red is a Christmassy colour and lace is a party material – it’s an ideal dress for this time of year.

Kimberly Garner

The Made in Chelsea star turned model and designer wowed in a black jumpsuit. This is a party outfit – it’s chic, it’s flattering thanks to the flared leg and deep v-neck and it’s comfortable to wear and easy to dance in. If you like to spend most of your night on the dancefloor, you need a jumpsuit in your party wardrobe.

Sarah Jane Crawford

The TV presenter kept things classy in a black bardot dress with a neckline that showed off her shoulders. A bardot neckline always looks lovely at a party as it shows off one of the slimmest parts of the body, while keeping the rest hidden. This is a super elegant choice of dress.

Olivia Buckland

The Love Island star looks ready for a White Christmas in her white party dress. Her summer on TV may have come to an end, but she doesn’t want to leave the spotlight and this dress ensures she still makes an impact. What do you think?

Fran Newman

The Made in Chelsea star turned music producer looked pretty and feminine in a red long sleeve midi dress and black open toe ankle boots. This is the ultimate day to night look as you could wear this to the office at this time of year and refresh your hair and make-up when it’s time to party. This is a great look if you don’t have time to go home and get changed before your night out.

Who do you think looked the best?

Celebrity Style Steal: Taylor Swift’s Best Looks

Happy Birthday to Taylor Swift!  The chart-topping country music pop star is now 27 and she’s had a fantastic year. She’s done her 1989 World Tour and won tons of Grammys. And she’s done it all in style with a wardrobe to die for!

What’s so amazing about Taylor is that she looks as fabulous when she’s dressed casually as she does on a night out. Often what she wears is very simple but she puts it together with some gorgeous shoes and a bold red lip. She has the unmistakable walk of a celebrity, strutting with attitude wherever she goes. That confidence comes from knowing she looks hot when she sees her reflection in the mirror. It’s a lovely feeling!

So in honour of Taylor’s birthday, let’s have a look at 3 ways we can copy her style and get that feeling ourselves.

(1) Taylor’s Casual Look

Even when she’s not on stage, Taylor still looks like a star. The key to this outfit is one statement piece and then some well-fitting basics. Her red jumper is warm and cosy, but with a flattering crop length. It’s similar to the V by Very blouson sleeve crop jumper and stands out when worn with black skinny jeans like the V by Very shaping double waistband skinny jeans. Skinny jeans make the legs look leaner and you can add to that effect even more with ankle boots like the Superdry bones strap leather ankle boots, with a thick heel that makes them more comfortable to strut around in.

(2) Taylor’s Night Out Look

Taylor has endless long legs and so when she’s on a night out dining and dancing, it makes sense to show off her best asset. She does this with a simple black mini skirt like the Miss Selfridge scuba skater skirt and barely-there black sandals like the V by Very petals block heel ankle strap sandals. As she’s kept it so simple on the bottom half she can afford to go a bit wild with her top, quite literally. Try the River Island printed leopard print blouse if you want to drive everyone wild with lust or envy or both.

(3) Taylor’s Award Ceremony Look

Wow! Talk about an attention-grabbing dress. Taylor looked beautiful in a dress embellished with swirly sequins at this year’s Country Music Awards. She stole the show and upstaged everyone else. If we want to make an impression at a ball or a party, we can learn a lot from Taylor and copy her style with the Little Mistress sequin maxi dress and the V by Very Caprice mini platform minimal sandals for even more sparkle!

Which of the three looks do you like the most? It’s inspiring to see that dressing like Taylor is a lot easier than you may expect.

BBC Sportsperson Of The Year Awards: Party Fashion

Every year, our top sportspeople are honoured in a ceremony voted for by the public. They can’t train for it. All they can do is turn up looking their best, be humble and see if the public will remember their achievements over the past year.

This year it was won by Andy Murray for the third year running, and he was the bookies favourite to win given that he’s beaten Novak Djovikic to become the number one tennis player in the entire world. But there were some surprises when it came to fashion as some of the sportswomen looked stunning dressed in their award ceremony outfits rather than sports kits.

Let’s have a closer look at what everyone wore for a final bit of inspiration for our New Year’s Eve outfits. We want something to start 2017 in style, don’t we?

Laura Trott

When she’s not tearing it up on the cycle track, Laura can look really glamorous. She showed that at her wedding to fellow cyclist Jason Kenny earlier this year and she showed it again at the sports awards. In her gold dress, she looks like she’s more ready for the Oscars  than the sports awards – she looked beautiful. If you want to stand out for the right reasons then wear gold or sequins….or both!

Jessica Ennis Hill

Jessica’s had a great year, winning a silver medal in the Rio Olympics despite having a baby since the London Olympics. She announced her retirement recently, but she is still a fantastic role model for getting women into sport. She showed off her trim figure in a black bardot dress, which really suited her.

Rebecca Adlington

The Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer turned sports commentator stood out from the crowd in a long sleeve white midi dress. It’s conservative, but it allows her to show off her toned legs. This is a sophisticated, elegant look.

Claudia Fragapane

Wow! The gymnast turned Strictly Come Dancing star looked fantastic in a black mesh maxi dress . It gives tantalising glimpses of her figure without giving too much away. Warning – a dress like this may make people stop and stare!

Heather Stanning and Helen Glover

A black maxi dress and a red maxi dress are both absolutely appropriate for a formal occasion and the girls’ have made use of texture to make their dresses stand out from the crowd.. Helen is in velver, while Heather is in lace. Which one do you like best?

Sally Nugent

The BBC Sports TV presenter looks like an athlete herself in her super flattering black jumpsuit. A jumpsuit is the ideal alternative to a black maxi dress if you’re not a dress person or if you want to look more strong and fierce. Sally was working, presenting awards on the night so it was important that she gave off a powerful, confident vibe.

Who do you think was the winner of ‘Best Dressed’?

Critic’s Choice Awards 2016: Red Carpet Looks

Awards season is starting earlier this year! The Critic’s Choice Awards usually takes place in mid-January but this year it’s in mid-December, which means we can expect almost 3 months of fabulous dresses and A’list stars attending awards dos, Until The Oscars on 26 February, there are awards after awards. Bring on the gowns!

The Critic’s Choice awards honour the best TV shows and film from 2016 and the winners are listed at the end of this blog post if you want recommendations of some entertainment to watch in your time off this Christmas. First, let’s have a look at the divine dresses and take some inspiration about what we can wear to a formal party or a fancy New Year’s Eve event.

Emma Stone

Emma looked stunning in a black maxi dress with cut out detail. The fabric of the top half and the halterneck detail makes her look party ready while the full skirt is formal. Therefore it fits two occasions – you can party in it and go to a formal dinner in it while looking glamorous and gorgeous the whole time. What do you think?

Nicole Kidman

Nicole also wore a cutout black dress that flattered her long, lean figure. The tight waist detail highlights her slimmest part and then creates the impression of more curves as it emphasises her hips. The bardot neckline is also on trend.

Naomie Harris

The British actress and star of the Bond films wowed in a strapless black maxi dress that showed off her slender shoulders. A strapless dress is a great way to show off a hint of skin, mesmerising everyone that looks at you. Never underappreciate the appeal of a strapless dress!

Kate Beckinsale

Kate went for full length and fabulous with her black short sleeve maxi dress embellished with sequins. It’s bold and it’s daring and with that hand on her hip attitude she totally pulls it off.  What do you think?

Amy Adams

There weren’t many celebs wearing anything other than black so Amy really stood out! She stood out for the right reasons as the white dress hugged her figure before snaking out into a wider skirt. Again, there is a bardot neckline – a lot of stars are wearing that right now.

Jessic Biel

Jessica had a boho chic vibe going on with her green maxi dress and her wavy hair with its long fringe (or bangs as the Americans call them). If you’re a bit of a hippy chick, this is a great way to stay true to yourself at an awards ceremony. Green dresses really uplift anyone’s skin tone as well, giving you a rich, warm glow.

Kerry Washington

The star of America’s hottest new TV show Scandal made sure everyone noticed her as she decided to wear a black lace midi dress instead of a maxi dress. Scandal is making everyone gripped and Kerry’s impressed everyone with her acting so now it’s time to show off her fashion sense. If you don’t want to wear a maxi dress to a formal occasion then you don’t have to. Just wear a midi dress like Kerry with confidence and you’ll make everyone wish they did the same.
