Alice Inspiration

This week I’ve been inspired by a family jaunt to the cinema to see the amazing new Tim Burton film, Alice in Wonderland. I thought I might sharemy secret tips for recreating that perfect Alice look.

But first, in case anyone’s asking who on earth is Alice, let me give yu a bit of background..

I am a girl who was brought up on Alice, my father being one of the greatest fans of Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865) and “Through the Looking-Glass” (1871).

Almost everyone has either read the books or seen the Disney animation of this magical tale and didn’t we all want to jump down a rabbit hole and be transported to a magical new land? I know I did!

As I sat with my 3D glasses on I was slightly nervous that I may be disappointed- I have to say I wasn’t. Alice was a truly amazing film & I was entranced throughout.

Any film starring JOHNNY DEPP is so obviously worth going to see and even playing the Mad Hatter Johnny cannot fail to be engaging. New girl MIA WASIKOWSKA takes the leading role as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the magical world she first encountered as a young girl.

Very Alice

It seems I’m not the only one who has gone Alice crazy, everyone is asking how to recreate that classic Alice style.

Here I feature my Very own suggestions to recreating the Alice look without looking like an extra from Lolita – never a good look at any age and certainly not one we want to replicate!

Classically Alice wears baby blues, ribbon and lace. It’s so easy to replicate, take a prom dress and add a length of ribbon.. Voila! Keep hair plain and simple but maybe add a corsage instead of the baby girlish plain band. Warning! Alice straight fringes can look a bit odd on anyone over 30 so beware!

Very features a wide range of women’s shoes and if like me you are a total shoeaholic then you will be spoilt for choice, the current trend for shoe boots is still strong as are nude shades. These all work very well when recreating the Alice look.

If you are merely looking for a quick fix of Baby blue then this can also be introduced by tunic tops over skinny jeans and ballet pumps  or by updating your wardrobe with new accessories such as a scarf or a bag. Take a look at Very ‘s great range of  Women’s Bags there are so many to choose from, the choice is amazing.

That’s it from me for now…  I’m off to sleep amongst the mushrooms to have my Very own magical wonderland dreams.
