Lace – the most feminine of fabrics – normally confined to the embellishment of lingerie, has gone from underwear to outer wear this season – featuring heavily on the runways. Primarily seen in black, white and neutral shades, colour also creeps in and can either be head to toe or just a hint – anything goes!
As a child of the 80’s lace often conjures up images of Madonna in her Like a Virgin days but this latest incarnation is much more sophisticated and guaranteed to make us feel exceptionally feminine.
Adding just a touch of lace to any everyday outfit is enough to make you feel ladylike. I love this t shirt from South – classic grey with a black lace panel combined to create a top that is contemporary and stylish, without being overly girlie. Team with skinny jeans and gladiator sandals for a sassy spring look.
Fearne’s lace top has a practical boob tube underneath to spare your blushes but typifies Fearne’s irrepressible love of having fun with fashion. This is a seriously cute top, team it with jeans for daytime, pop it under a suit in the office or wear with hareem pants and killer heels for a night out. It wouldn’t look out of place with tailored shorts for the wedding season either.
If you fancy something with a more subtle hint of lace then this South vest top is perfect, casual yet cute it is perfect for spring and will take you through the summer months too. Wear with jeans turned up at the ankles or shorts and cute sandals or with wedges and wide leg trousers.
I’ve put together some looks for inspiration but for lace this season – anything goes!
