I know it’s not even summer yet, but the fashion world doesn’t wait for the sunshine! The catwalk is full of the trend for this autum/winter already, and I’m pleased to say that PRINTS are still big – think bold and graphic!
Whether you want to keep ahead of the trends and stay one step ahead, or just want to know what to keep an eye out for over the next few months, make sure that your top picks include one of these three key prints:
1. STORMY – go for colours like blue, black, grey, purple or green and mix them up as in a murky watercolour and you’ve got the designer look. You want distorted patterns that are moody and cloudy, in bruised looking colours. The catwalk had a lot of this print on long dresses, but if you don’t want something so full on it works really well on a top.
2. HOTCHPOTCH – think old fashion patchwork and you’ve got the idea! It’s loads of crazy patterns mixed together in a random style, and the catwalk is loving it on short daytime dresses. This look is going to be huge on the highstreet soon – go for pinks, purples, blues and greys. You could even try it DIY style by mixing a skirt and top of different prints.
3. GEOMETRIC – this print has been around for a little while but it’s now got a fun new look. Try to keep the pattern to obvious shapes like diamonds, squares and triangles and have at least two colours – the brighter the better! Go for something that looks a bit futuristic or psychedelic and you’ve got the right vibe. For catwalk chic – short going out dresses definately work this print!
So forget block colours and try a new autum/winter 2010 print instead and you’re sure to look VERY ”on trend”!
