Five Minutes of Fashion With Kimberley Walsh

Kimberley Walsh is often upstaged by her Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole, but don’t understimate her.

The likeable singer was picked as the face of New Look after the store’s web customers chose her in an online poll.

And when she presented the BAFTA red capet coverage for ITV2 she looked more stylish than someof the Alist film stars in a silver backless Jenny Packham dress.

She was in another gorgeous backless dress at a Breast Cancer charity fundraiser in London’s Docklands at the weekend and we caught up with her before dinner to talk about  her fashion dreams now Girls Aloud are on a break and future plans with Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts.

QS: Have we seen the end of Girls Aloud?

“No! We signed up for three albums before we took a break. We always have to take it up a level and bring out new and exciting stuff. We’ll be back.”

QS: When will Girls Aloud be back?

“We need to chat and book it in becuase there are five people’s diaries to work around… Nadine needs to come over from LA.”

QS: Are you a diva?

“The Kimberley you see on stage is a different person. It’s so over-the-top and dramatic.  At home I don’t wear a scrap of make-up. My boyfriend Justin sees to sides to me. The work look with make-up and the at-home look. Heels off, eyelashes off”

QS: Do you still shop on the High Street?

“I’m a little bit sensible compared to the other girls. I’d spenda few hundred on a dress for something special, maybe a grand on a bag. I like jewellery, I feel at least that keeps its worth. I can’t really justify spending a lot of money on clothes when there are so many other things I could spend it on, like saving for a mansion.”

QS: After New Look, would you like your own fashion range?

“It’s something I’d be quite interested in doing. My mum always made clothes when we were growing up and we used to design our own dresses to wear to people’s birthdays. Sometimes you think up an outfit in your head and you think it would be nice to be able to create something. I wouldn’t rule it out.”

If the Northern girl from Bradford did design her own clothing collection, we know it would be glamorous.

Her backless look is perfect for summer and the cream colour makes anyone look glowing and tanned.

Very has a couple of women’s dresses similar to the pop star’s.

Try a Lipsy racer back embellished dress, which is pretty from the front:

But even more gorgeous when you see it from the back:

Or for a less daring back but equal sequins there is a Pixie Loves Lipsy embellished dress

This has a hint of shoulder and back, but you can still wear it with a strapless bra:
