Florence Welch and her band Florence and The Machine have one of the liveliest stage sets ever but Flo toned it down for the English National Ballet’s summer party this week.
She looked as of butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth as she turned up to the Champagne and canapé reception at London’s five star Park Lane hotel, The Dorchester, in a long sleeve floral print dress.
But the demure outfit disguised a racier side as the flame-haired singer confessed she is desperate to appeal to a more urban audience and duet with Jay-Z.
Florence, who recently collected Band of the Year at last week’s Glamour Woman of the Year awards, met Jay Z when they both played the Isle of Wight Festival.
The star was spotted watching Jay Z’s set from the side of the stage alongside Chris Martin, Beyonce and Kanye West.
As she performed with hip hop star Dizzee Rascal at the Brit Awards in February, singing a cover of Dizzee’s Dirtee Love, maybe Jay-Z will take her seriously…if he can find time in his busy schedule.
Jay-Z worked wonders for Rihanna and Alicia Keys, and would help Florence crack the lucrative US market as she deserves.
But for back-up, the English rose said: “The band are working hard on our new album, which will be out in time for Christmas. We’re in the studio getting on with it, doing what we do best.
“That time of year isn’t always great for releasing new tracks as you are competing against X factor, but X factor didn’t get to number one last year so we stand a chance.”
Dressed like that, the pop star definitely impresses us in the fashion stake while we eagerly await that album.
If you want to hide your arms like Florence did then this Killah stripe jersey dress is a gorgeous and more casual while still being fresh and summery.
But if you’re more interested in prints then this Great Plains printed dress is stunning
It’s one way of adding some colour to your summer wardrobe if you’re bored of the LBD.
