Our Very own Fearne Cotton hosted a star-studded catwalk show and party in London to preview her Spring / Summer 2011 collection on the eve of London Fashion Week.
We spotted Craig David (above), her Radio 1 chart show partner Reggie Yates, Company magazine editor Victoria White, Cosmopolitan magazine editor Louise Court, Fearne’s mum and dad (bless!) and Alesha Dixon (below).
Before the catwalk went crazy we grabbed the talented TV presenter turned designer for an exclusive chat about her inspiration for the range.
“This is my fourth collection for Very and I’m calling it my vintage collection,” she revealed. “My last collection was rock with big shoulders and bold prints but this is a lot softer. It’s a lot more feminine, a few 1950s style pieces and a few 1970s style pieces and I’d say it was my favourite collection.
“I design all of the items myself. I put hours into it. I sit at home and sketch and do whatever comes into my head at the time. I think I’m in a happy place right now.
“I just hope the industry and customers like it. I am more anxious about showing it off tonight then I am about my TV show Must Be The Music. On Sunday it is the Must Be The Music final and I’m going out on stage on Wembley to host with the panel (Dizzee Rascal, Sharleen Spiteri and Jamie Cullum) and I’m not nearly as nervous about that as I am about doing a fashion show.”
But after seeing the models strut down the runway in her designs, it was obvious she had been worried for no reason whatsoever as the VIP crowd in London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom gave her a well-deserved standing ovation.
Here is an exclusive preview of three of our favourite looks…
(1) Knee-length nude dress with floral trim and waist-tie bow
(2) White 50s style day dress with a floral swirl print
(3) Indigo denim shirt and denim capri pants
After the crowd eventually stopped cheering, Fearne came out in a princess-like floor length backless maxi dress to say a few words.
“I love Very and I love internet shopping,” she gushed. “I do it when I’m in bed.” What a sweetie!
If you want a show-stopping party dress like the one she took her bow in then the Fearne Cotton backless silk maxi dress from her current collection is a good match.
We’re so excited about getting the new collection which is available to buy early next year!
