Louise Redknapp could appear in the dictionary under the definition of yummy mummy judging by the fabulous outfit she wore to the Emeralds and Ivy Ball in London.
The former Eternal singer was one of the guests at the charity ball at Battersea Evolution, which was organised by Boyzone singer Ronan Keating.
In her glamorous dress, she looked like she should go on stage and tear it up but she told us she had a long list of things to focus on in 2011, which didn’t involve singing.
The hardworking mother of Charley, six, and Beau, two, and wife of gorgeous footballer Jamie shares her future plans and her tips for mums in the interview below.
QS: What will 2011 hold for Louise Redknapp?
LOUISE: “I’ve been doing a lot of TV recently so that’s my main focus. I’ll be doing a follow-up to the documentary: The Truth About Size Zero. I like combining fashion and TV and making women feel good about themselves.”
QS: Do you look to any celebrities for inspiration about body confidence of fashion?
LOUISE: “A source of inspiration recently was the actress, Julia Roberts. She really is a woman’s woman. Now a mother of 3 the papers ran some beautiful photos of her playing with her kids. Wearing a bikini, her ‘mummy tummy’ proudly on show, you could see she has resisted the pressure of Hollywood for a ‘perfect body’ image. Myself and all my girlfriends thought it was the coolest thing she could have done.”
QS: What one item of your wardrobe would you save if your house was on fire?
LOUISE: “Aside from the obvious being my family, it would be my handbag. My favourite is Hermes – my latest addiction.”
QS: As a mother of two, what are your tips for other mums about feeling fashionable after a baby?
LOUISE: “Put a bit of time aside for yourself. Even if it’s just a couple of minutes as if you look better you’ll feel better.
“What you wear has to be comfortable and durable but you still want to feel womanly. I’d say go for a cute pair of jeans and a cute t-shirt because you can be womanly without overtly sexual.
QS: What is your favourite ever red carpet moment?
LOUISE: “It was a few years ago when Madonna had the premiere for the film Evita. Donatalla Versace invited me to her hotel suite and said I could choose a dress. I couldn’t believe my luck! In the end, I was so overwhelmed and I was like ‘choose anything, thanks for having me….’Wow!”
If you want a gorgeous but understated and practical party dress like Yummy Mummy Louise, the Elements/Amanda Wakeley Corded Waist Maxi Dress is very similar to Louise’s ball gown.
For something slightly more edgy without going too OTT try the Love Label velvet mesh maxi dress. It melts away at the back so you can walk away from any occasion with your head held high.
Or keep it classic with the Love Label split thigh embellished maxi
The question is will her TV presenting be as good as her outfits? We’ll find out in 2011!
