Having read great reviews about Burt’s Bees natural skincare products, via blogs and customer reviews, I knew I had to try a few products for myself. I opted for the Burts Bees Essential Burts Kit as it offered trial sizes of five products for just £13.00 – Hand Salve, Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Lotion, Coconut Foot Cream, Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream and Beeswax Lip Balm.
Straight out of the packet I tried the lip balm and was treated to a lovely, refreshing peppermint tingle. Not sticky, not greasy – it felt really nice on.
The hand salve has quite a strong smell, which can be attributed to the botanical oils and herbs but this dissipates as the salve almost dissolves to the touch and soaks in really easily, for me is a major plus as I dislike the feeling of something sitting on my skin long after application. Most importantly though, it left my hands really, really soft, I think this would be a miracle worker for hard working hands.
The foot cream was a treat that I was really looking forward to trying out. My heels are visible dry (which isn’t pretty). I applied this liberally to my heels, popped on a pair of cotton socks and hopped into bed. Eight hours later my feet felt smooth and moisturised. I did expect this to be a thick white cream but it actually has the consistency and colour of set honey – not a gel, not a lotion and not even really what I would describe as a cream but nice to use none-the-less. I’ll definitely be using this again.
I had read that the body lotion smelled divine and was easily absorbed. It really does smell good enough to eat and left my skin soft to the touch but without any stickiness – so it ticks the two criteria boxes I have for body lotion.
I normally stick to a well established cleanse, tone and moisturise regime for my face but decided to give the cleansing cream a go. It promises to deep clean – removing dirt, make-up and excess oil – whilst also moisturising. It has a nice smell and left my skin soft but after years of using a liquid cleanser as opposed to a lotion cleanser like this one I felt that I hadn’t cleaned my skin properly. After a quick going over with my normal cleanser I realised Burt’s Bees had done the job just as well. Oh ye of little faith!
Of course, I’d have to use this more than once to see if this made any real difference to my skin but I don’t think I will, I quite simply prefer my liquid cleanser.
Burts Bees also have a range for men and Mama Bee and Baby Bees for Mums and infants. The Burts Bees Baby Bee Bundle of Joy Gift Set would be make such a lovely gift for new babies and they have definitely missed a trick by not having a Mama Bee pamper kit.
I’m definitely going to try more Burt’s Bees products, I am seriously impressed.
Have you tried anything from the range? What did you think?
