Everyone loves Disney; from kids who love the latest releases through to big kids (aka adults) who grew up with the classics and love nothing more than indulging in a cheeky afternoon curled up on the sofa, reliving their childhood.
It’s always going to be a fierce subject of debate, but here are our family favourites that we think should be on every family’s DVD shelf.
It’s very rare that a film’s sequels are just as good as the original, but this is definitely the case with the Toy Story movies. Follow Andy’s favourite toys as they head off on adventures to save their friends, defeat evil enemies and watch their owner grow up. A real tear jerking series, but action packed with plenty of fun and humour.
Aladdin is a Disney movie from a classic era, before Disney teamed up with Pixar for their high quality effects – this is animation at its best. Travel to the Far East and join common thief with a golden heart Aladdin as he battles to save Princess Jasmine from the clutches of evil sorcerer Jafar. Throw in Robin Williams as the voice of the exuberant Genie and mischevious monkey Abu for a thrilling flying carpet ride.
This is one of Disney Pixar’s most recent offerings and it’s a fantastic adventure. You might not think that an old man, a boy scout and a flying house could provide so many laughs but this is a real family treat. Talking dogs, evil villains living in the jungle and rediscovering a sense of family is at the heart of this movie.
Sometimes when you mix the real world with cartoons, it doesn’t really work but that definitely isn’t the case in this classic Disney movie. Starring the wonderful Angela Lansbury as the not-so-wicked witch living in war torn Britain, joined by her three enthusiastic evacuees, they hop on her magical bed to journey to a different world, helping to win the war. A brilliant addition to any DVD collection!
