London Fashion Week has kicked off and this year it is located at The Somerset House. On Saturday night, I attended the Fashion Fringe Finale show 2011.
Each of the three Fashion Fringe finalists – FYODOR GOLAN, HEIDI LEUNG and NABIL NAYAL – showcased their SS12 capsule collections, in front of the gruelling scrutiny of the world’s fashion press, buyers, friends and family.
I had the pleasure of taking a backstage tour before the show kicked off. Myself, bloggers and some our own VERY team was guided around by the lovely people at FashionFringe. We started the tour with a wander around the designers and their designs, moving on to the makeup/hair room and finally finishing in the after party room. This is where the winner was announced.
Around 9pm, guests were being seated in the beautiful hall adorned with stunning chandeliers. The lights went down, the music started and models started strutting down the catwalk.
All three collections looked amazing on the catwalk, It is obvious and clear to see why they are the finalists! The attention to detail, silhouettes and colour ways were beyond fantastic. After all three amazing finalists had showcased their collections, guests ushered into the after party area. Deep conversations, Champagne and plenty of fashionista! I Like!
Within around 15 minutes, the wait was over. The judges which included Anne Pitcher, Bel Jacobs, Claudia Schiffer, Roland Mouret and Roy Peach took to the stage where the winner was announced as FYODAR GOLAN! A huge congratulations to the pair! Their clothing was a reflection on how hard they worked!
Claudia Schiffer said ”FYODOR GOLAN have proven themselves and have the potential to go far. They deserve to be the winner of Fashion Fringe 2011.”
Colin McDowell MBE, founder and Creative Director of Fashion Fringe commented: “The final choice is always the most nerve-wracking part of the whole process and I am always glad that I do not have to help make it. What I will say of this year’s finalists is that all three contenders have a real future ahead of them and, as always, I can only thank the judges for the care and consideration that they have brought to all aspects of the judging and, along with other professionals and our sponsors, the mentoring which is so key to any young designer moving forward. My heartiest congratulations to FYODOR GOLAN and my best wishes for the future to Heidi and Nabil, it will not be the last we will see of them I’m sure.”
I am sure these guys will go on to do amazing things, watch out for them!
The party got into full swing but forget the champagne for one minute, I was eagerly waiting to get pictures with two people who inspired my life in many ways! Roland Mouret and Colin Mcdowell! These pictures really made my weekend! (teehee)
I did try scrambling with the paps to try and get a picture with Claudia Schiffer but unfortunately my height and small body was no competition for the 6ft odd paps. (boohoo!) However, I did also get to chat to our very own celeb designer Diana Vickers who as I imagined, was very sweet! Check out her collection HERE.
Hope you all had a great fun filled weekend! Until my next post, I will speak to you all very soon! Suzi x
