Want a new way to wear denim? Then choose pastels. Let me tell you, I’m LOVING all those minty greens, ice blues, sherbet lemons and frosted lilacs on the catwalks this Spring/Summer.
There’s no better way to escape the doldrums of winter than a pop of colour and pastels are a super way to ease your fashion wardrobe into high summer brights. Pastel jeans don’t come any better than South Pure Ankle Grazer Length Skinny Jeans. Colours are bright pink, bubblegum pink, lavender, blue and yellow – yum yum. I like this on-trend slightly shorter length too. Naturally they look great with heels but also with a loafer. Love Label Turtle Suede Tassle Loafers in cornflower blue or stone will look the bomb with any of these colourways.
A denim jacket is a wardrobe staple (I left my battered old faded Levi’s jacket in a studio last summer and I am still gutted about it cos it went with everything) so stay on the pastels tip in this baby pink South Denim Jacket (also in white and blue). If you want longevity mind, I’d invest in a (non pastel) blue DKNY JEANS Seamed Denim Jacket as the seaming detail on this is superb. It will give you a gorgeous nipped in waist which we all know is uber flattering. If you find pastels a bit too girly sweet then these South Coloured Twill Skinny Jeans in mustard will be right up your strata and are the colour of the moment.
I heart a skinny jean, well I do now I’ve found the right ones for my ever so slightly carrot shaped legs (I am hourglass/pear so I have chunkier upper thighs than I’d really like) but you know something I am getting ever so slightly bored with my skinnies. So I’ve invested in a new (but in all actuality) old silhouette – the bootcut. My newest pair of jeans are a long indigo bootcut and I’m liking the way they cling to my thighs and then kick out below the knee – wayyy more flattering for my shape but they have to be worn with heels. Salsa Jeans Secret Bootcut Jeans and Miss Sixty Tommy Bootcut Jeans are really good fits. I like to tuck a slim fitting blouse into them – something like this cuter than cute Awear Tie Printed Jersey Blouse, which also looks hot with an indigo denim pencil skirt. I am a big fan of the pencil skirt. I call it a girl’s best friend for the way it clings in all the right places and this sexy number, South Curvalicious Pin Up Denim Pencil Skirt comes in three fabulous colourways.
At the other end of the denim spectrum to indigo is that beautiful shade of pale blue that complements all skintones and hair colours. I recommend an oversized pale denim shirt for all women, the So Fabulous Denim Shirt is a great one. It looks gorgeous tied in a knot over a summery maxi dress. For evenings you can’t go wrong with metallic jeans. I’ve already written a ‘Three Ways To Wear’ blog on them so I’ll say no more other than I really like this new style of these South Metallic Skinny Jeans.
