When Very asked me to write a guest blog post, my thoughts immediately turned to your summer festival wardrobe. After all, California’s coolest music event, Coachella, kicked off the festival season.
First, let me introduce myself. Hi, I’m Susie, aka Bargainista Fashionista (http://www.bargainistafashionista.com/). My blog is all about affordable fashion, bargain finds and achieving style on a shoe string. So whether your taste is high end or high street, I’ll show you how to make your money go further and help you look good for less.
Which brings me onto my three festival outfits. To get more looks for your money, I’ve made sure they can double up for one, if not more, occasions. A festival may be for a day or a weekend, but these looks are for the whole summer long.
The festivals: Coachella, California, 13 to 15 and 20 to 22 April and Latitude, Suffolk, 12 to 15 July
The celeb looks: Chloë Sevigny, Kate Moss, Daisy Lowe
Love Label flower playsuit is perfect for the California sunshine – or any of the UK festivals if the sun is out. With its summery print, relaxed drawstring waist and sexy keyhole neckline at the back, it’s an effortless festival one-piece. Carvela’s Kute Bow Sandals add a pretty finishing touch, while a Buckle Front Straw Satchel is a festival essential. The peach trim on this one complements the colours of the playsuit.
The other options: Great for a lunch date. The sandals, meanwhile, are smart enough for your summer work wardrobe.
The festival: Vintage Festival, Northamptonshire, 13 to 15 July
The celeb looks: Kirsten Dunst, Lily Allen
This Fearne Cotton Floral Vintage Dress works the vintage vibe perfectly. I love the retro feel of the dress shape, especially the neckline, while the print gives a nod to this season’s floral trend in a old-fashioned, whimsical way. The purple and blue of these Teatro Partridge Metallic Heel Sandals pick up the colours in the dress, while the thin double strap and heel look chic and elegant. Complete your look with these Ted Baker Ladies Sunglasses – Black. Sure, they’re a bit of a blow-out purchase compared to the dress and shoes, but they really do finish off the outfit.
The other options: Ideal for summer weddings. The heels will look good with everything from smart trousers to casual jeans, too.
The festival: Wireless Festival, London, 6 to 8 July
The celeb looks: Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof
The Love Label Printed Shirt Dress is throw-on sexy and effortlessly cool. A pair of Superga 2750 Fantasy Pumps (Alexa’s shoe of choice) keeps your look casual. Work a double hit of florals with this flower-print pair, or go for one of Superga’s plain pairs. White is a classic, but the broderie anglaise style is cute, as are the polka-dot designs. Lastly, this boho Nikki Beaded Duffle Bag, rocks the festival vibe perfectly.
The other options: Just chilling with friends. The trainers and bag will become your wardrobe favourites.
