The Voice Battle Rounds: Feisty Female Finalists

The BBC’s new talent show The Voice must be doing something right – 9.9 million people tuned in this weekend! Did you? It was like nothing we’d ever seen before on TV as the contestants were divided into groups of two and then made to do a duet. Only one from each pair was put through to the next stage and there were lots and lots of tears (of both joy and sadness). We’re now down to the best 20 contestants, who are all through to the first live show next weekend.

If you like a bit of glamour, then here’s an exclusive insight into the ladies through to the live shows.

Bo Bruce – Rock chick Bo beat Vince Freeman as they covered U2’s With Or Without You. Short-haired Bo comes from a wealthy background – her father is the Earl of Cardigan!

Hannah Berney – The 20-year-old barmaid, who looked gorgeous in a pink dress, covered Robbie Williams’ hit Kids and put her heart and soul into the track. It’s an exciting time for her as not only is she through to the live rounds, she’ll be performing for the Queen when Her Majesty visits Exeter on her Diamond Jubilee tour.

Ruth Brown – The bubbly 19-year old made Tom Jones cry with her rendition of Alicia Keys’ No One. We love her unique and colourful style, especially her pink jacket. It’s hard to imagine that she was twice turned away from The X Factor.

Toni Warne – Toni impressed Jessie J with a heartfelt performance of Aretha Franklin’s Think. She’s been on TV once before on Opportunity Knocks but we hope she lasts more than one episode in The Voice!

Ruth-Ann St Luce – The 18-year-old looks fantastic in her hats and colourful blouses but she has been the subject of controversy as she missed some notes in the audition stages. Thankfully Jessie J is sticking by her as The Voice would really change her life. She’s currently got a boring job in a shop.

Becky Hill – The Scottish teenager, looking sweet in a floral print jacket, beat double act Indy and Pixie with her interpretation of Beyonce’s Irreplaceable. She reminds us a bit of Joss Stone, wearing flat shoes to perform so she can feel the stage.

Joelle Moses – With her corkscrew curls and killer body, Joelle Moses wowed Will.I.Am with Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman. She used to be Toni Braxton’s backing singer, now it’s time for her to take centre stage.

Sophie Griffin – The dark-haired 17-year-old singer impressed Will.I.Am with her cover of Katy Perry’s Firework. He was blown away by how she could handle such pressure at such a young age. However, we hear Sophie is more of a Danny fan. She once queued for 8 hours to get a ticket to one of Danny’s Script gigs!

Frances Wood – She may just be 18, but Frances showed an inner maturity when she sang Alanis Morrisette’s hit Ironic. She’s also starting to dress better, getting rid of the Dr Martens she wore in audition stages for a girly gold dress.

The live stages of the Voice start next weekend and the first episode will have yet another twist as four contestants will be eliminated instead of one. Who will make the final 16? Watch this space for all the latest news and behind the scenes facts and gossip.
