The second episode of BBC One talent show The Voice yet again beat ITV rival Britain’s Got Talent in the ratings with 8.6 million people tuning in for 80 minutes of non-stop drama. There were lows with West End musical star Kerry Ellis failing to impress any judges and highs with three contestants managing to make all four judges turn round and fight to get them to sign up for their team. One of these was the brother of Saturdays singer Vanessa White! If you’d like to know more about who’s been picked by what judge and some exclusive behind the scenes news about our top five performers this week then read on below.
It’s peroxide blonde Vince who is the brother of Saturdays singer Vanessa and the latest addition to team Jessie J. We all saw Vince impressing the entire judging panel with his rendition of Madonna’s Like A Virgin and Very can reveal he exclusively confessed to everyone backstage that it was a song that caused arguments with his sister as they both competed to sing loudly than the other. Their poor parents!
You may recognise Heshima, who also impressed all four judges, by his acting roles. He’s been in the likes of Eastenders and Holby City. The talented 25 year old picked Will.I.Am, which Very can reveal caused a rift between Will and his fellow judge Danny O’Donoghue as Danny was the first to turn around and really believed he could inspire Heshima. Let’s hope Heshima doesn’t end up regretting his choice!
The Welsh contestant came out in a casual hooded top and flat cap but impressed everyone as he did a unique version of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition, bringing all four judges to turn around very quickly. However, Jessie used her female charms to convince him to pick her. And the Do It Like A Dude singer did look sensational on the live show in a purple shirt and leather trousers. There are some gorgeous new bright shirts at Very right now, if you want to stand out. You don’t always need a figure-hugging going out top if you have a pattern that makes people look twice.
Hat-wearing Frances sang Black Eyed Peas, Where Is The Love and managed to impress Will.I.Am. She’s just 18 and one of the youngest finalists in this year’s competition but she has had some experience at performing to large crowds having already played the o2 Arena when she got into the finals of national talent search Live And Unsigned. Her future is as bright as the colourful Dr Martens she sang in!
The first duo in the competition, Matt and Sueleen, perform together in an act called Amber Room and are now part of Team Tom Jones. They’re also a couple in real life and have dated for more 15 years but will they ever get married? Apparently Matt’s been telling people they’ll get married if they win the show, which puts pressure on Sueleen. Maybe smooth crooner Tom can help their love life as well as giving them vocal coaching?
The audition stages continue next week on BBC One on Saturday night. That means we have a whole week to get some more behind the scenes gossip for you. Stay tuned!
