London’s Oxford Street Christmas Lights are now officially ON! Jessie J did the honours and she was joined by X Factor winner James Arthur and teen idol Conor Manyard. However, there was no doubt whatsoever that Jessie was the star and she was definitely the one that the crowds cheered the loudest for. When she stepped on the podium the crowd went mental.
I caught up with Jessie at the event, where she revealed she was really nervous. She said that this event made her feel really special, telling me: ‘it’s so nice to do something in London, in my home country. To be involved with this Christmas tradition is a massive honour. I just hope there’s not a power cut or anything. Or I get electrocuted. There’s a lot of responsibility.’
Thankfully the event went without a hitch and Jessie quite rightly had a huge smile on her face.
It was a freezing evening so she dressed appropriately but the red trousers mean she could be glam while staying warm. I’ve seen there are some Definitions red trousers at Very, which I may be getting after seeing how good they look on. Red is a very Christmassy colour after all!
Jessie is now planning on supporting Children In Need again, a year to the day after she shaved off all her hair for charity. Tune into BBC One on Friday 15 November to see what she does (and what she wears).
