Now the sun is starting to come out more, the celebrities are finally starting to swap their black outfits for something a little more colourful. At the Prince’s Trust Awards, there were two main trends from the famous female guests – pastels and prints. As the awards were to celebrate the brightest young stars in business, the fact that the celebrities went for bright rather than black was very appropriate. Prince Charles was the guest of honour at the event and I’d say all the female guests must have got the royal seal of approval.
So what’s the gossip? Busy girl Pixie Lott, who’s promoting her new single Nasty, has been on 10 TV shows this week plus national and regional radio shows and she’s in practically every magazine too, so I had to ask what her secret was. ‘Mint tea,’ she revealed. That makes me want to stock up! In a striking pink coat, Laura Mvula talked about her new album, that she’s currently recording, and revealed she was duetting with some major American artists. And the legendary Joan Collins, looking gorgeous in a skirt suit, revealed that she was still working. She’ll shortly be filming a movie called Time Of Their Lives, based on a 1940s movie on the same name, about two friends on a road trip.
The other key trend was prints and Laura Whitmore led the way with a pretty blouse. I would kill for her wardrobe!
Laura has been linked to Scottish singer Paolo Nutini but she’s keeping it quiet on whether there’s any truth in the rumours. I hope it works out for them as they’d make a cute couple.
And talking of cute, how lovely is Emma Willis’s printed dress?
Emma seems to be all over our TV screens at the moment but she told me I had to tune into The Voice on BBC1 this weekend for one of the most dramatic episodes ever. Apparently it’s Battle Rounds where judges whittle 6 singers in their teams down to three. There will be a lot of shock decisions and controversy – sounds intriguing!
All the award winners were young people who did well, and seeing them get recognised by the royal family and some famous faces makes me proud to be British. There’s no limit to what you can achieve – or who you get to meet – if you work hard enough and that’s a principle I try to live by in my own life.
