Happy 10th Birthday to Mean Girls – it’s been a whole ten years so we wanted to pay tribute with our favourite mean girls quotes …

1. “Get in loser. We’re going shopping.”

2. “Ex-boyfriends are off-limits to friends. That’s just, like, the rules of feminism.”

3. “Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by Regina George.”

4. “We only carry sizes one, three and five. You could try Sears.”

5. “That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets.”

6. “It’s like I have ESPN or something. My breasts can always tell when it’s going to rain. Well… they can tell when it’s raining.”

7. Janis: “We gotta crack Gretchen Wieners. We crack Gretchen, and then we crack the lock on Regina’s whole dirty history.”
Damian: “Say crack again.”
 Janis: “Crack.”

8. “But you’re, like, really pretty… So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?”

9. “I’m a mouse, duh.”

10. “Can I get you guys anything? Some snacks? A condom? Let me know! Oh, God love ya.”

11. “I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school. I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.”

12. “One time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome.”

13. “I want to lose three pounds.”

14. “I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.”

15. “’Cause she’s a life ruiner. She ruins people’s lives.”

16. “Regina George is not sweet! She’s a scum-sucking road wh*re, she ruined my life!”

17. “If only you knew how mean she really is, you’d know that I’m not allowed to wear hoop earrings, right? Yeah, two years ago she told me hoops earrings were her thing, and I wasn’t allowed to wear them anymore. And then for Hanukkah my parents got this pair of really expensive white gold hoops and I had to pretend like I didn’t even like them. It was so sad.”

18. “On Wednesdays we wear pink.”

19. “Made out with a hot dog? Oh my God that was one time!”

20. “Did you see nipple? It only counts if you saw a nipple!”

21. “Why should Caesar get to stomp around like a giant, while the rest of us try not to get smushed under his big feet? What’s so great about Caesar? Hmm? Brutus is just as cute as Caesar. Brutus is just as smart as Caesar. People totally like Brutus just as much as they like Caesar. And when did it become okay for one person to be the boss of everybody, huh? Because that’s not what Rome is about. We should totally just stab Caesar!”

22. “Everyone in Africa can read Swedish.”

23. “Oh my God, Danny DeVito! I love your work!”

24. “I can’t go to Taco Bell. I’m on an all-carb diet. God, Karen, you are so stupid!”

25. “There are two kinds of evil people in this world. Those who do evil stuff and those who see evil stuff being done and don’t try to stop it.”

26. “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom.”

27. Damian: “My Nana takes her wig off when she is drunk.”
Ms. Norbury: “Your Nana and I have that in common.”

28. “Gretchen, I’m sorry I laughed at you that time you got diarrhea at Barnes & Nobles. And I’m sorry for telling everyone about it. And I’m sorry for repeating it now.”

29. “She doesn’t even go here!”

30. “I hear she does car commercials…in Japan.”

31. “I have this theory, that if you cut off all her hair she’d look like a British man.”

32. “This is Susan from Planned Parenthood, I have her test results. If you could have her call me as soon as she can. It’s urgent. Thank you.”

Enjoy – and if you’re planning a pink Wednesday anytime soon, we’ve got loads of it online (whatever, I’m getting cheese fries)

May The Fourth Be With You!

May The Force Be With You! With the hype starting to build for Episode VII (December 18, 2015 – what a Xmas present that’s going to be!) and Star Wars Day on the 4th May, we thought now would be a perfect time to celebrate the iconic universe with a few of our favourite picks from Very.

First off, we have the Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-Ray, perfect to sit on the couch all day and marathon from start to finish. The mammoth 9 disc set has a disc dedicated to each film, plus an extra 3 discs of bonus materials, giving more than 40 hours total running time! If that’s not enough to veg out and watch, we also have the full boxset of The Clone Wars, from series 1-5 on both Blu-Ray (here) and DVD (here). This series is set between Episodes II and III and is great for both newcomers and die hard fans! We even have a great range of games for when you want to live out your fantasies of being a Jedi or Sith on screen. For our full range of Star Wars games, DVD’s and Blu Rays click Here.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Left) & Star Wars: The Clone Wars Seasons 1-5 (Right)
Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Left) & Star Wars: The Clone Wars Seasons 1-5 (Right)

For the men who want to show their loyalty to The Empire, you might want to don either our  Mens Stormtrooper T-shirt, or the Mens Darth Vader T-shirt (which this Very blogger has hanging in his wardrobe!). If you’re going the whole hog and you’re throwing a Star Wars themed party (complete with Death Star shaped disco ball hanging from the ceiling and the Cantina theme playing on repeat!) then we’ve got you covered with our fancy dress range, with a Men’s Stormtrooper costume, a Women’s Princess Leia costume and plenty more besides right Here.

We’ve also got a GREAT range of toys and games to keep the little ones (and the big kids) entertained. We especially like the LEGO Star Wars AT-RT, which comes with a mini Clone Trooper figure, a mini Droid figure and (this is our favourite bit) a miniature Yoda figure too!! If you’re feeling a little more destructive… Ahem, if the KIDS are feeling a little more destructive, then we have the Star Wars Angry Birds Star Destroyer. Mixing the insanely popular phone game of Angry Birds with the Star Wars universe and coming with 10 themed Angry Birds, this set will keep you (erm, the kids… honest…) quiet for hours! To see our full range of Star Wars toys, click Here.

Hopefully that’s got you as excited we are to celebrate Star Wars Day, so once again, from us here at Very, May The Fourth Be With You!

Bye For Now,

Celeb Style Steal: Work It In A Power Suit Like Rita Ora

I just love Rita Ora’s style! I know I’ve said it before, but the girl is a great fashion ambassador for the UK. Wherever she goes in the world – she’s currently in America – she looks stunning, flying the flag for us Brits and showing the world that being British doesn’t mean being boring.

Rita is always one step ahead of the fashion trend. When the rest of us are wearing summer dresses, she’s wearing a fierce white suit. I’ve seen similar suits worn by Rihanna and Cara Delevigne so Rita’s in good company wearing it, and I think she looks fantastic. She’s in the States to promote her new single I Will Never Let You Down, which critics are already calling the Tune Of The Summer. She can do no wrong right now – maybe it’s a lucky suit? If you want to copy her style, I suggest the Love Label blazer with some white trousers. And if you’re not sure yet, just check out the photo below. With the suit on, she has everyone on this US chat show eating out of her hands.

Of course, there’s more to this outfit than white. To finish the look you need a black shirt and black shoes. Try the Definitions ultimate shirt and the Shoebox leather harden court shoes.

What do you think? If you want to add a power suit to your wardrobe of summer dresses then this has to be it! Rita’s single I Will Never Let You Down is out on 11 May.

Inside Lily Allen’s Sultry Gig At GAY

Lily Allen is now officially back! Her long-awaited comeback album, Sheezus, is out on 5 May. In advance of that she did a gig at London’s GAY nightclub and the crowd went absolutely wild with love for her. You can say what you want about the album when you hear it but there is absolutely no question that Lily knows how to rock a venue and put on a show like the true diva she is!

Lily recently revealed she had been copied into an email of market research from the public listening to her album and not entirely liking it plus some reviews in the newspapers and music publications have not been 100% positive. But when she performed the tracks live it took on a new meaning. The main track from the album, which is also called Sheezus, had a particularly poignant lyric in it as Lily sung about bracing herself with the inevitable comparison to other female solo singers like Katy Perry, Beyonce and Gaga. To be honest though, Lily can hold her own – in her short set she did three outfit changes. I particularly liked the first one:

When Lily first started she was known for her strong fashion  look of prom dresses with flats and she brought that back at GAY but with a lovely pair of heels. The girl’s grown up! If you like this look as much as I do, you’ll be glad to know Very has loads of prom dresses right now. I particularly like the Definitions eyelash lace prom dress.

After that she changed into a leotard, Lady Gaga style, showing off an impressively toned bod. It was hard to believe she’s a mum of two. And then she did a brilliant impression of Beyonce, singing Drunk In Love in a blond wig.

Before the song, she said if the album didn’t sell she would try to be more like Beyonce. Well, she did a good job so Bey needs to watch her back! I hope the album does well though, she’s putting her heart and soul into it.

Fearne Cotton’s s/s14 pieces have just landed. we caught up with the stylish star for a girlie gossip! Bright colours, lace panelling and bold prints – it’s all going on in the new collection. The style icon knows how important it is to inject a little fun into outfits. “I’m enjoying giving my wardrobe a switch up now the weather is nice again,”

Fearne – who’s engaged to Jesse Wood, the father of her 13-month-old son, Rex – tells us. “I love wearing something bright for spring.”   This may be her 13th range for us, but it’s clear the 32 year old is as passionate as ever about fashion…

How do you get into the frame of mind for designing?
I wear my comfiest clothes and put on some good music, usually something from the 70s like Neil Young or Fleetwood Mac. It’s an era I find particularly inspiring. Sometimes I’ll play an album by Jake Bugg or Mutual Benefit – they’re a new band who make gloriously relaxing music. They’re perfect for drawing to. I have all my favourite pencils, my art pad and some magazines or imagery I’ve found. Then I get on with it.

Do you ever look in your celebrity pals’ wardrobes to get inspiration?
I haven’t as yet, but it’s a great idea. I do look online occasionally and see who wore what to the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Baftas… and then I draw inspiration from there.

What item from your best mate’s closet would you most like to steal?
Holly [Willoughby] has a shoe collection to scream about. It’s full of the prettiest heels ever. We are handily the same size, so I may be sneaking in there again soon!

Who’s your current celebrity style crush?
I like everything that actress Lupita Nyong’o has worn this red carpet season. I think she makes bold, bright choices which work. I also love Jennifer Lawrence – you can tell she wears things that make her feel comfortable and glamorous at the same time.

Who has the best hair in Celebland right now?
I love Amy Adams’ long flamy hair. What a gorgeous colour and it always looks so thick. I also love Jennifer Lawrence’s short crop.
I’d never pull it off, but it’s such a cool look for her.

What one item from your wardrobe is in the heaviest rotation?
My skinny jeans are easy to pair with anything. At the moment, I’ve been wearing the new Lainey Sandals from my collection a lot.
They’re so comfy and I love the clear Perspex heel. They go with everything.

Which one trend will we not see you rocking this summer?
I’m not that keen on having my arms fully out. I feel like I have the shoulders of an American
football player in sleeveless dresses, so I always give that look a miss.

What’s Jesse’s favourite thing in your wardrobe?
He is happy as long as I’m happy. Jesse is literally the most easy-going person around. He just lets me get on with it.

Will you be designing your own wedding dress?
I’d definitely love to be involved in that process. I think it would be so much fun creating something for the big day.

Imagine you’ve got five minutes to get ready and meet the girls for a meal. what do you wear?
Black skinny jeans, a slash-neck T-shirt and huge bright heels.

Love what you’re seeing? Shop the collection, it’s ready and waiting!

Gossip From The Exclusive Banksy Art Auction

You know summer is coming when the celebrities start to wear shorts at showbiz parties in London! And I am happy to report that the stars had their legs out for an art auction for legendary street artist Banksy. Singer Eliza Doolittle, Brian McFadden’s model wife Vogue Williams and Made in Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue stole some of the attention away from the art, they looked that good! And it showed there are many different ways to wear shorts – black, white  or bright – just as the party showed how talented Banksy was with many of his most iconic works up for sale.

So what’s the goss?

Eliza Doolittle

The singer has just got back from supporting Gary Barlow on tour so she’s ‘on holiday’ and taking time for a well-deserved rest before working on new material. Eliza went round the UK with Barlow and said it didn’t feel like work because she loved it that much. Bless! She certainly looked glowing in her white shorts.

Rosie Fortescue

The Made In Chelsea star, looked stunning in  yellow shorts, but I wouldn’t expect anything less given her new project. She’s started her own fashion blog – At Fashion Forte – where she photograhs what she wears each day. Check it out!

Vogue Williams

Brian McFadden’s model other half is following him into the music business. She can’t sing but she told me she’s got lots of DJ work lined up. I wonder if she plays Westlife tracks? If she plays as good as she looks in those black shorts our ears are in for a treat.

So the question is, are you ready to get your legs out for summer now ?

Icons and I-can’ts

We all have one, that person whose fashionable ways just make us swoon. Even if we don’t emulate that person’s style IRL, we can still admire them from afar! For me it has to be Emma Watson because she’s always impeccably dressed and her outfits certainly have plenty of personality – that backless red ball gown says it all!

On the flip side there are some people who consistently have us dismayed, and I know for me I just don’t get Jennifer Aniston and her love of a little black dress. Why play it safe when you have so many designers at your fingertips – not to mention the killer body to pull off some seriously daring styles.

I’ve been asking around the office to see which other celebs are on the Very team’s list of Icons and I-can’ts!

Icon: someone from Mad Men as I like the bold colours and bodycon style!

I-can’t: Oh Ri–Ri – She’s just naked half the time! I wouldn’t say she has an iconic style and I won’t look back in 50 years time and remember her fashion.

Icon: Olivia Palermo – she puts casual pieces with tailored jackets and it looks effortlessly stylish. I like her earthy tones, crisp white against sharp black and clean lines. City girl style and laid-back chic!

I-can’t: Rihanna! Too many crop tops, spikes, hoopy earrings and studs for my liking!

Icon: it is, and always will be, Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) in Clueless. Dig those mini-kilts and hats – fun yet classy!

I-can’t: Katy Perry’s pseudo-vintage style, it always feels like she’s trying too hard to be quirky!

Icon: Suki Waterhouse! The belle to a Bradley Cooper beau, Suki always looks Brit-cool and straight outta the ‘60s with locks that are amazing whether messy or beehived!

I-can’t: Cheryl Cole. Granted, she always looks totally gorge – but I’d need a team of people on hand at all times to blow dry, tan and primp me to perfection!

Icon: Carrie Bradshaw – I go from loving to hating Carrie’s look in the space of 20 minutes – but that’s a result of her having fun with fashion!

I-can’t: Kate Middleton – She dresses the same every day and plays it safe – it’s like she doesn’t know her own style.

Icon: Jane Birkin – effortlessly stylish, she had a way of wearing a simple white shirt tucked into jeans and looking super cool. Plus I love the fact that she shunned designer bags for a wicker wear basket which she carried everywhere!

I-can’t: Lady Gaga – tries far too hard!

Icon: Victoria Beckham! She pulls off smart chic so well – hence me going through a grey palette stage!

I-can’t: I think Nicki Minaj is far too bold for me, I prefer playing it a bit safe!

And one for the boys…

Icon: David Beckham. Despite having a tough time of things in the early years, Becks has turned it around as he’s got older, always looking pristine at formal events in sharp suits that fit perfectly. He’s also good looking – basically I want to be him. I even like his wife.

I can’t: Grayson Perry I get you want to express yourself in the name of art but just put a painting up or something.

So what about you?! Let us know your personal icons and i-can’ts below! Love Aimee x

P.s I also blog about my life as an Honorary Scouse, have a spy!

The Must-Have Item From The Summer In Style Advert

Have you seen Very’s new Summer In Style advert yet? There was one item that caught my eye in particular. As soon as I saw the shot of the model in the jumpsuit, I paused as I knew I had seen this look on tons of celebrities.

As you can see from the pic at the top of this blog post, Kourtney Kardashian wore a similar one to a party in LA. While Kim Kardashian is really girly and Khloe has an edgy rock chick vibe with jeans, Kourtney is always on top of the trends. Just like Heidi Klum – the supermodel – who wore her bright jumpsuit to dinner in LA. She  wore it with flats, but if you wore it with heels you could dance all night long in it. Jennifer Lopez wore it with heels, obviously! The diva picked red shoes, and although I’m not normally a fan of matchy-matchy this totally works.

So if you want to rock the look yourself, you need the Definitions cami jumpsuit and the Statement jewel flower necklace from Very.

We’re due a bright, sunny summer this year (for once) and so it’s the ideal time to add some more colour to our wardrobes. What do you think?

There’s something about the word ‘prom’ that just makes us want to belt out some Taylor Swift, but this year our prom-spiration is switching from pop-country music to some seriously classic movies! Taking influence from the ’50s, the ’70s, and the ’90s, we’re looking to Grease, She’s All That and The Virgin Suicides in search of the perfect prom icon…

She’s All That

From the moment we saw Laney Boggs (Rachel Leigh Cook) in her oversized printed shirt and denim dungarees on the beach we knew there was a style icon in the making! Quickly came the ‘big reveal’ in which a tweeze, a hair snip and major red dress later showed that the girl hiding behind those granny specs (which, to be honest, we kinda liked!) was one hot chica – no major shock there! The real WOW moment came for us when sweet little Laney rocked up to her high school dance in the perfect prom dress – sexy, sultry and just that little bit Hollywood. Part Audrey Hepburn, part Marilyn Monroe, steal her style with a classic black maxi dress or add a little 2014 attitude with this faux leather Love Label frock, then prepare yourself for a few one-liners like this…*

*We can’t promise they’ll come from Freddie.

For every girl, the search for the perfect prom dress is almost a practice run for when wedding bells are a’ dinging, and pre “Tell me about it, stud” Sandy looked sweet-as-punch in her swooshy dress that just screams 1950s and “Marry me Zuko!”. Now, in our humble opinion, there’s no better time than your prom night to unleash the inner princess that we all secretly have (yes, even Taylor Momsen!) and a skater style skirt is just dreamy when it comes to twirling around the dance floor! Make like Sandra Dee in proper prom dress like this one from Definitions, then add vintage-style white shoes and a wrap-around ribbon for extra prettiness! Then all that’s left is to practice these moves…

The Virgin Suicides

Now celebrating it’s 14 Year Anniversary, Sofia Coppola’s first ever feature film truly deserves a mention as to this day it’s still undeniably cool (even with those coordinating ‘70s prom dresses that aren’t-so!). Shot all dreamlike and hazy, we’re pinpointing the Lisbon sisters and Kirsten Dunst as prom icons thanks to blooms, petals and stems that are ever so spring fling/vintage.  Copycat the style from this cult classic but bring it right up to date with this floral prom dress or pale maxi dress. Happy Prom-ing, Queens!

In order to expand your style horizons and help you save a pretty penny we have gathered together some of our favourite So Fabulous! tops for this season, from jersey to shirts and prints there’s a top to suit all of you fab-ettes!  Take a look below and see how, with just a few lovely accessories, one cleverly chosen top can take you straight from a morning latte to a few well deserved cocktails.

Find the perfect jumpsuit for your body shape this summer with Very!

OK, so jumpsuits are all the rage this season and I have to say I’ve always been tempted by them as I’m tall and have long legs, but I also have hips and a bust and have always thought you need a straight up and down kinda shape to pull this look off.

Not to worry though – I’ve been looking into the jumpsuit and if you want to look good in one this summer then take note of these tips and get shopping ladies!

If you’ve got more going on up top…

I hate the phrase top-heavy, it sounds bulky and totally unflattering to me so, if you’ve got a bust then look for jumpsuits with V-necks or a button up front to flatter your décolletage and if you’re worried about gaping then wear a cute cami underneath.

Very loves: This Definitions jersey jumpsuit as the V-neck flatters your bust and Brave Soul’s printed silky V-neck jumpsuit is sultry yet complements your décolletage.

Styles to avoid: Bandeau – you don’t want any embarrassing accidents!

Calling all hourglasses and pears…

OK, so if you’ve got a little more going on below the hips then you should draw attention to your narrow waist with belted options. Balance out your sexy hips with halter neck styles, shoulder details and flared legs.

Very loves: This Savoir wide leg jumpsuit balances your figure, while the French Connection printed jumpsuit is relaxed and perfect for your hols.

Styles to avoid: Boxy top shapes as they draw attention away from your curves.

Apples and athletic figures…

Right, so these two sound completely different, but think about it, what do both shapes have in common? Skinny pins! So, therefore, you must, must, must try a jumpsuit with a slim, tapered leg. Also try a piece that has a little extra room in the waist – if you’re an apple then it’ll draw attention away from your waist and tum and if you’re a straight up and down kinds girl then it’ll add shape.

Very loves: This Definitions orange straight leg jumpsuit is a little roomier around the waist and features a straight leg to show off slim pins, while the South bandeau jumpsuit allows the fabric to drape over your waist and hips for an ultra flattering result that’ll add shape to even the narrowest of waists.

Styles to avoid: Belted waists – for obvious reasons!

If you’ve got serious junk in the trunk…

Make the most of your derrière by dressing it in jumpsuits with lower waists (like you get on trousers) as it sits lower on the waist making you bum appear shorter and smaller…however, if your style is all about showing off what your mama gave ya then go for a fitted waist or maybe even a halter neck!

Very loves: This Definitions jumpsuit is uber relaxed with a slightly dropped waist and back pockets that’ll definitely get your derriere noticed – for all the right reasons! For something a little smarter try this Little Mistress evening jumpsuit – the trouser like style is super smart and sophisticated, just watch out for the side pockets.

Styles to avoid: Belts and high waists (for a smaller looking bum), but break the trend for bootyliscious results!

For petite and proud girls…

Being petite doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have a straight up and down figure, so follow the rules above for your shape and remember – V-necks and plunging necklines will give your body the illusion of being longer than it is and heels are a must for adding height!

Very loves: Both of these Kardashian jumpsuits feature a plunging neckline to make your frame appear longer. The slim leg fit also helps to show off your pins and I’m loving the heels too!

Styles to avoid: Too much detail at the top and shoulders – can risk looking boxier and smaller as a result.

For tall and leggy girls…

Wide leg jumpsuits will suit your frame better and you can get away with more daring styles like the one-shoulder. However, stick to the above rules when it comes to your shape and if you want to get a model look, elongate your figure with a plunging neckline and a slim leg for pins that go on forever!

Very loves: Being tall you can get away with most styles, whether it’s urban and edgy like this Diesel jumpsuit or relaxed and off-duty like Vero Moda’s printed jumpsuit.

Styles to avoid: You can get away with pretty much anything, but remember to make sure you pick out your shape from above and go from there!

And finally…

  • Small patterns and block colours are the easiest top wear, whatever shape you are.
  • Bold patterns are for the brave or super skinny.
  • Go for embellishments and frills to glam up your evening jumpsuit.
  • Loose styles will make you look slightly bigger than you are and so is better for slimmer girls. However if it’s the retro look you’re going for than the wider the leg the better and if you want to show off your figure to the max, no matter your size, then opt for a more fitted style.

Hope you’ve found my advice useful and start to embrace the jumpsuit – I think I am this summer!
