The iconic Battersea Power station in London is being transformed into flats and what do you do to celebrate new things? Have a party, of course.
And this wasn’t any ordinary party as another icon –Elton John – performed and there was a unique dress code of denim.
Female guests swapped dresses for jeans and the men left their suits at home – it was a unique sight! Plus it was inspirational as I saw ways to dress up denim. Jeans can be so smart! Here are my favourite looks from the night from the stars, who all seem to have exciting new projects on the horizon.
Comedian Jack Whitehall and Gemma Chan
Don’t just dismiss Gemma as the girlfriend of funnyman Jack Whitehall. She’s got a part in an upcoming Johnny Depp movie called London Fields. It’s a thriller as a clairvoyant gets an image of her own future death and she has to focus to work out who the murderer may be. She may look sweet and girly in her blue skinny jeans and ankle boots, but that sounds scary!
Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black
Diana Vickers and George Craig
Diana is back in the studio! She’s just finished a run on the West End stage in the political play Duck House and she can’t wait to get back to music. This will be her third album and the previous two were best-sellers. No pressure there, then! I like how she was probably the only star to wear white and black jeans rather than blue.
Downton Abbey’s Lily James
Lily plays Lady Rose Maclaire in Downton, but she’s going to appear on the big screen soon! In the break from Downton filming, when most other stars took holidays, Lily went on the set of a movie about Cinderella that’s a drama rather than a cartoon. Helena Bonham Carter and Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will be in it too, so it sounds promising. We’ll find out in early 2015.
