DARK BLOOMS #veryautumnedit

Get ready for florals to make their shady Autumn Winter debut this season with the Dark Bloom trend.

What started off as an edgy going out look, the Dark Bloom trend made a dramatic U-turn clashing with girly girl pretty for a style that is easily made your own whether you’re a pretty in pink kinda girl or all about punk attitude.

Featuring all the usual fabric suspects, the DB trend is full of scuba for that figure-hugging fit with a little extra stretch. With colours ranging from pinks and oranges to blues and blacks and materials mixing up metallics with jacquards and leathers with scuba this truly is a good girl Vs bad chick movement.

OK so first up of my must have Dark Bloom picks is the Definitions floral print bustier peplum top and matching jersey tube skirt.

This outfit eases you into the look and transforms your good girl persona ever so slowly into something a little more attitude driven. The classic floral print still features the typical pink hues, but they have been fused with dark greens and rich reds with the colours running into each other for a blurred take on the pattern that’s synonymous with Spring Summer. To get the Dark Bloom edge go for a smoky eye and statement jewellery pieces.

Next up is the box top and skort set by Definitions.

If, like me, you can’t wait to embrace the trend then this set is for you. Rose florals decorate a decadently dark backdrop, while the separates add a little laid back cool to the look. Use metallic barely there sandals to give your style a girly appeal and throw on a leather biker jacket for the bad girl’s answer to the trend.

OK so Dark Blooms isn’t all darkness and mystery, why not liven it up a bit in the Definitions printed neoprene tunic?

This dress is perfect for your autumn wardrobe with its burnt orange hues and electric blues. The tunic shape suits straight up and down figures and is perfect for giving your look a laid back yet fierce appeal.

The colours of this tunic dress allow you to be playful with your accessories and make up – why not try a blue eye liner to add a flick of colour into your beautifully bronzed face for gorgeous impact?

Once you’ve got your floral addiction under control it’s time to experiment with jacquard metallics in the Girls On Film jacquard top and matching skort.

Dark pink metallic threads become the focus of your outfit, while the jacquard fabric lends your look a luxurious texture that you’ll turn to again and again throughout the season. Unlike other AW trends the Dark Blooms look is full of high necklines, sleeves and covered up separates to add authority to your look, whether off-duty or partying at the weekend.

And finally, this is perhaps my favourite piece of the collection – the scuba fishtail jacket by Paper Dolls.

Blue is taking over this season and this jacket surrounds you in a royal take on the hue. The double button placket reminds us of eras gone by, while the collarless silhouette softens the look. Complete with a fishtail this jacket mixes up outerwear with eveningwear with surprisingly chic results!

The Dark Bloom trend is here to stay for AW so why not make the most of it and shop our good girl gone bad pieces and get ready to unleash your dark side?
