OK so the third instalment of SS15 Fashion Week sees us flying over to Europe to fashion capital Milan.

Italian women are renowned for their simple yet chic wardrobes so before I get started on the key Milan trends to look out for this week, lets take a quick tour around their wardrobes…

Unlike most British women (I sadly am included in this), Italian women do not pack their wardrobes full of new items every season. They study their bodies so they know what suits and what doesn’t. All about keeping their look simple they stick to four main hues – black, blue, grey and white with black being a staple during winter and white becoming the new black come summertime.

By understanding their figures they pick pieces that will work from day, to work, to night for a versatile closet that seamlessly works together – jealous much?!?

OK so enough of the adoration of the typical Italian woman’s wardrobe and lets start the countdown to our top five picks for Milan Fashion Week.

In at number 5 is accessories – gold to be precise. The finishing touch that can make or break any outfit, ladies you need to know your jewellery. A statement necklace can bling up any casual piece, while investing in a timeless leather bag is a no brainer…you’ll have it for years to come and it will never go out of style. Oh and of course don’t forget your sunglasses in Milan – whatever the season!

At number 4 we have a non-mover with the tuxedo blazer. Rather than buying something metallic, bold and bright that falls prey to the season and trends, why not try a classic black or white tuxedo jacket? Depending on how tall you are choose a shorter or longer length, as long as it suits your shape and use it to smarten up your denims and tees or add that all important Italian-inspired chic to your evening mini dress.

Moving up a place at number 3 is the cami. A lesson in understated chic, the cami top is a must for any fashion-conscious lady and seeing as we’re in Italy, white is a must. It looks classic when paired with tailored trousers and courts, but can pull of off-duty looks too when paired with boyfriend jeans and pumps.

Just missing out on the top spot is denim at number 2. Remember to stick to the classic colourways of black, blue or grey and don’t forget…Italian women are all about the fit. Now this doesn’t mean just skinny – go for a straight leg or boyfriend jeans instead that are fitted around the thighs for a mix of chic meets laid back.

OK and our number 1 top spot piece goes to the mini dress. Whether you go for a timeless black beauty or a fresh, clean cut white the mini dress is where it’s at in Italy. Dress them down with a biker jacket and boots or amp them up with your trusty tuxedo blazer, courts and gold accessories – it doesn’t matter. With a mini dress you can do no wrong!

Now that you’ve got your Milan Fashion Week look sorted, what shows are you going to catch?

Losing favour to other fashion capitals in recent years, the SS15 shows take on a twist merging new talent with classic fashion houses and Giorgio Armani is even showcasing his collection a few days earlier than scheduled!

So with so much of a buzz around old and new talents why not mix it up yourself and watch out for…

Au Jour le Jour – new up and coming designers Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez will be showcasing their debut show in Armani’s theatre as part of his new initiative to introduce Italy’s young and talented designers to the world.

And of course there’s the classics like Gucci and Georgio Armani – who is no longer closing the week, but instead showing his collection on the 2oth September, just in case influencers decide to leave early in favour of Paris Fashion Week – miow!
