The sixties trend for #veryautumnedit looks like it was made for Paris – maybe it’s the combination of autumn leaves, houndstooth and the Francoise Hardy fringe on our amazing model! The 60’s mod is a huge trend for Autumn/Winter – first seen on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Valentino, we’re gearing up for a season of A-line shifts, boots and mod-esque prints. It’s a really easy trend to pull off too – nothing particularly scary, it’s all about looking polished with the focus on clean structured lines.
The houndstooth jacket from Vero Moda is a great starting piece (and was also a favourite of Audrey Hepburn for all you vintage addicts), if you only buy one thing this is the killer piece that’s going to fast-track the trend.
The South collar knit dress is such a versatile piece. It’s going to work with every body shape because it’s not too A-line, and it’s very Mary Quant looking – wear with big Twiggy lashes, nude lips and a full-fat fringe.
I love the combination of the eyelash knit striped skirt with a honey-mustard coloured top – this amazing colour is not only completely seasonally appropriate, it also makes the outfit look a little bit found-in-a-thrift-shop, and the combination of the eyelash knit with a leather biker makes it even more interesting. Contrasting textures is a huge trend for AW14 so this look is a good all-rounder!
My personal favourite from this sixties collection is the French Connection Kazan check coat – what I love about this is that it works as part of the trend, but also as a stand alone piece. Invest once, and you could get years out of it – wear it now over a mustard coloured dress with knee high boots, but because it’s a little bit punky it’d also look just as good with black skinnies, a beat-up band tee and ankle boots.
And finally, where would any sixties throw-back be without the iconic black knee boot – this version is slightly slouchy which gives the look a more relaxed feel and they haven’t got a huge heel to stagger round on which is always a bonus when winter hits and you’re just praying to stay upright (gotta think ahead girls!)
So there it is, the sixties trend from #veryautumnedit – you can shop all the pieces right now, also don’t forget to visit the Shoot Diaries page for some more inspiration and have a look at the behind the scenes blog to see what went on in the city of lights.
