The Evil Within

I like nothing better than being scared witless at Halloween, and for me at least, films just don’t cut it anymore (except for The Conjuring – but let’s not talk about that one…), so I prefer to be in control when I get my scares.

That’s why The Evil Within is both a ridiculously exciting, and terrifying at the same time. Releasing 14th October for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC, this is a call back to the old school horror games you might have played years ago. It even has the creator of the original Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami directing it!

It’s a typical horror story set up, detective goes to investigate the scene of a mass murder, and everything goes crazy from there, but after the last few years of horror games making a comeback, with Outlast available to download for PC, PS4 and now Xbox One, and the FANTASTIC The Last Of Us on PS3, and remastered for PS4, it seems like the perfect time for one of the original masters of Survival Horror to mark his spot in your nightmares again!

If you’re looking for a night of horror games to fill your Halloween this year, you can’t go wrong with my little list…

The Evil Within – I’ve already said plenty about this one, but I really can’t describe how excited I am to get hold of it. Even if I do end up hiding behind the couch to play it…

Alien: Isolation – This is another new release (out 7th October), and has been developed with the idea of capturing the tense nature of the original movie, and the original stalking, unstoppable Alien. It even has original computers and monitors from the films to stay as faithful to them as possible! The game is based around Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, looking for her mother after her disappearance. Sigourney Weaver has even stepped back into the role of Ellen Ripley to give the game a real connection with the movies. Available Here on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.

The Last Of Us – With all the awards this game has received, plus the horror elements after a zombie style virus wiped out most of humanity; it would be a crime not to mention this for anyone who hasn’t played it already. Get it Here on PS3, or PS4.

PT – this is just a demo (which means it’s free!!), available on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, but this scared me more in the hour or so it took to play through it than most games have in their entirety! If you haven’t already checked this one out, look for a surprise star at the end…

So what will the gamers among you be playing this Halloween? Comment and let us know!!
