Usually, the only time you see celebrities in the same place is at awards ceremonies or at London Fashion Week. However, the opening night of the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A museum in London swung that on its head. There was a whole host of models, actresses and even royalty in absolutely stunning dresses to honour one of fashion’s biggest names.
Alexander McQueen left a lasting impact on fashion that is still seen in today’s clothing. For example, look at Naomi Campbell, Naomie Harris and Salma Hayek (below).
I was intrigued to see that dresses at Very have influences of Naomi Campbell’s feathers and the striking colour of Naomie Harris’s dress. And then the gorgeous feather detail on Salma Hayek’s dress is echoed in one worn by Amy Childs.
But its not just these colourful creations that are echoed in today’s fashions. Black was a recurring theme throughout McQueen’s life and he loved lace.
It would be hard t get a dress like Kate Moss but the Club L lace panel midi dress has striking lace detail. Princess Beatrice’s dress has a tuxedo neckline, similar to the Definitions mono tuxedo dress
Alexander McQueen really used his imagination when it came to fashion and there’s no reason why we can’t too!
