There’s a new Disney movie out! Cinderella had it’s premiere in London’s Leicester Square and as the stars walked the blue carpet (which I guess is more magical than red), I was there to get the exclusive gossip and ask the celebs some questions.
It was star-studded! So let’s get started with the goss:
Lily James (Cinderella)
Lily, looking incredible in a silver dress, spoke about the controversy surrounding Cinderella’s waist in the film. Due to digital enhancing, Cinderella has a tiny waist in comparison to the skirt of her blue dress. But Lily said ‘why is this relevant’? I take her point. If you focus on the movie rather than her waist, you get a better experience.
Lily added: ‘We tried to make the lead character really strong. Somebody who’s got unbelievable kindness, unbelievable strength and that makes her able to deal with life on her own terms and find joy in bleak situations. So I think there’s a lot to take from it.”
Holliday Grainger (one ugly sister)
Holliday Grainger said even filming this was a magical experience as its a departure from her normal twisted roles. She said she wants to play a baddie more often, but looking at her in her white maxi dress, I’m surprised. She looks so innocent!
Sophie McShera (the other ugly sister)
Sophie is best known for her roles as Daisy in Downton Abbey, so I had to ask how Cinderella compared to Downton. Sophie revealed it was a lot easier to film Cinderella, saying ‘Daisy is first up every morning and her duties include lighting the fires below stairs then sneaking into the family’s bedrooms to light their fires. The props master asked if I wanted to carry a basket with pretend logs but I wanted to make it as realistic as possible so I’m carrying heavy props around.’
That must be how she keeps fit – she showed off a hot figure in her maxi dress.
Richard Madden (Prince Charming)
Richard arrived with his real-life girlfriend Jenna Coleman (the Dr Who actress) and they were so loved up. Don’t be surprised if there are wedding bells soon!
Helena Bonham Carter (Fairy Godmother)
Helena said she was sceptical when she was asked to be in the film as there is no twist to make it different from other versions of Cinderella. But having read the script she agreed it worked because of the strength of the characters saying ‘I think all the characters work because they’re not stereotypes.’ Nor is her green dress a stereotype – this makes me want to wear more green!
Plus tons of celebs turned out to watch the film including
I loved her blue maxi dress, which complemented the blue carpet
Michelle looked like a fairy princess in her maxi dress
Sarah Jane Crawford
A bit of glitter always looks good, doesn’t it?
Stacey’s midi dress flowed in the breeze as she walked. So pretty!
The film is out in the UK on 27 March. It’s worth a watch, trust me!
