#VerySpringEdit – Pretty Metallic

Another month, means another Very Edit, which means a fresh look at a new-season trend (I love my job), which means I’m basically the grown-up version of a kid in a candy shop (The child version – not a baby goat). Talking of candy, I’m tapping into a sugary sweet pallet of pick ‘n’ mix coloured pastels in this post. Think muted candyfloss pinks and super pretty sherbet shades … mmm, sweets ❤.

The Pretty Metallics edit has more to it than pastels, though; this trend is all about working SS15’s love for molten metals into your collection by partnering them up with your candy colours. I’m talking a leeeetle touch of metallic – maybe through a silver sequin embellishment, an ethereal white sheen or a sprinkle of glistening sequins. Let’s add a sheeny finish to those sweet shades and head into SS15 with a sparkle in our step!

1. The Powder Pink Pick

The Very Edit - Pretty Metallics

Spring/summer quite simply wouldn’t be spring/summer without a pop of candy floss pink and this summertime stunner is just the thing for getting your fix of the pretty pastel hue. Neon pink and metallic silver threads weave through the pale pink fabric, adding a touch of texture, a slight colour pop and a metallic sheen.  While it looks like a classic A-line dress from the front, the back features a cut-out design, which gives the illusion of a two-piece set (click the link below to have a nosy at it from all angles!) Transform this piece from picnics in the sun to a meal and cocktails with the boyfro after dark, by swapping your tote, sunnies and sandals for a box clutch, heels and a smoky eye. Ta-dah!

2. The Neutral Pastels

The neutral colours in this girly dress and cute co-ord set are perfect for pairing with your pastel-coloured accessories – think lovely lavender heels and a powdery peach handbag. The dress features textured mesh and ribbon horizontal stripes, which change directions in the top panel to add an interesting aesthetic. (Mesh stripes? EEK. Don’t worry – it’s fully lined so you can’t see your knickers underneath!) I love how it’s fitted at the waist and the pleated panels to the skirt add extra flare. The shorts and top combo to the right has a very gentle touch of metallic – less heavy metal, more subtle shimmer. This is even more beautiful in real life – I’ve got it on my desk as I type this and the champagne hue is catching the light to create an ethereal sheen. Dial up the drama with foil-finish accessories and add a softer dimension with pastel accessories. Pretty metallics trend, nailed.

3. The Shimmering Sequins

In contrast to the last two pieces, this party-wear pick is brimming with shimmer and sparkle, with its white sequins carefully sewn into jaunty geometric shapes and contrast pastel peach sequins, which brighten up the monochrome. The sheer, lightweight fabric skims over your figure for a flattering fit, while the super short length makes it spot-on showing off your legs in a pair of skyscrapers. Add summery accessories such as a powder blue clutch or bon-bon pink shoes for a full-on pastel-meets-metallic look. I’ve taken a close-up of this piece (below) so you can get a better idea of the sequined texture.

4. The Dreamy Pastel Dress

SS15 is having a fling with florals and this little number lets you work a little of the whimsical theme into your wardrobe in an instant. I love how the soft pink of the flowers look like it’s been carefully painted with a subtle wash of watercolour. Spot-on for summer, it features a bardot neckline for an elegant look, a cinched waist to create a sexy shape and a flared skirt for a super girly feel.
