The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge proudly showed off Princess Charlotte at St Mary’s hospital in London on Saturday 2nd May, with both Wills and Kate looking remarkably bright and fresh after a speedy birth. She was admitted to hospital in the morning, gave birth around lunchtime and was posing for photos looking absolutely stunning by 4pm!
Prince George came to the hospital with Prince William and waved to the crowds, looking really excited to meet his new baby sister Princess Charlotte.
Let’s take a little moment to look at the new baby:
Kate is just what the royal family needs – someone who always looks smart, calm and perfectly groomed despite managing a schedule of charity commitments and duties as a new mum. When it comes to clothes, everything fits her well and she doesn’t mind re-using her outfits (or passing them on to her mother or sister) which is admirable.
Although she plays it safe when it comes to fashion and dresses very sophisticated for her age, she specialises in putting together outfits that you could wear to a summer do like a wedding or a work party while staying confident that you will feel as comfortable when you leave as when you arrive. The yellow knee length dress that she wore to leave the hospital with her new daughter was loose fitting so she could move around in it but the floral print made it look ideal for Spring and Summer.
It wasn’t the first time Kate has worn pastel yellow as she also wore it for Prince George’s christening. The colour and formal looking cut reminds me of the Coleen 60s dolly dress. William looks really proud of his new family, doesn’t he?
Sometimes, however, Kate has to leave her babies with the nanny and go out for royal duties. She has a mix of art charities and children’s charities for which she’s a patron. Midi dresses are a wardrobe staple for Kate, with a dotty one like this Wallis skirt spot dress being the perfect dress for the Duchess.
As the weather is unpredictable, a midi dress is not always enough and Kate has one of the best collection of coats I’ve seen on any celebrity! I particularly like the pink coat that she wore just before giving birth to her daughter, which she insists wasn’t a hint to the sex of her baby. It doesn’t matter whether it was or it wasn’t as it suits her skin tone and contrasts nicely with her brunette hair.
Of course, any woman needs to dress down from time to time and when Kate’s relaxing with baby George watching William play polo, she looked lovely in great fitting slim jeans and some ballet shoes. I think slim jeans are more flattering than skinny jeans, and you can definitely move around in them more.
Something tells me that we haven’t seen the last of Kate for a while. Although, she’s now on maternity leave from her charity commitments, she’ll be back at functions before long in another selection of gorgeous dresses and coats and I can’t wait to see what she wears.
What do you think of her style choices?
