Whether you like tennis or not, you can’t help but get involved with the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Britain has a potential winner in the form of Andy Murray, it’s a chance to have picnics and strawberries outside and everyone seems to be talking about it so if you don’t know what goes on you’re missing out.
We can guarantee the final will have tons of celebrities in the audience but even the first day was busy as the line-up included top players like Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. I was there, dressed in a white dress from Very, to watch some tennis and hunt for some VIPs in the crowds.
After I went through security, it was a bit overwhelming as there was a lot of excited people milling around trying to work out what to watch. Some people only have grounds tickets which means they can only catch the action on the outside courts, but the celebrities tend to be on centre court or court no 1. The first gorgeous girl I saw heading to centre court was Millie Mackintosh.
Millie’s a massive tennis fan and brought a friend along for a girly day out because her husband isn’t keen on the game. Dressed in a white day dress, she told me she’s backing Murray to win but believes it will be tight between him and Djokovic. I think most people share this view.
TV presenters Zoe Hardman and Laura Whitmore brought some colour to the event.
It was great to see Jodie Kidd and of course, I had to ask about Top Gear. She said that she wasn’t allowed to talk about it right now but said it with a smile. I would bet that she will play part in the new BBC show judging by the way her eyes lit up excitedly.
Cute couple Jack Whitehall and Gemma Chan had a day date at the tennis. Jack’s been away touring and Gemma’s about to start filming on location so it’s hard for them to see each other. Gemma looked lovely in a navy blue dress – I bet Jack’s going to really miss her.
Also in the audience was the gorgeous Niall Horan from One Direction. There was almost as much people watching him as the tennis at the start – until Djokovic really got into the swing of things.
I will be taking note of who goes to Wimbledon for the remainder of the competition as I’m sure there will be a lot more celebrities in attendance. The biggest question is: can Murray win it?
