The British Fashion Awards are a cross between The Oscars and The Met Ball Gala in America. The awards are as prestigious as the Oscars and everyone makes a real effort with their outfits as they know the eyes of the fashion world will be watching, so in that sense it’s like the Met Ball.
This year, the British Fashion awards guests included a mix of fashion designers and models as well as a lot of musicians that are heavily connected to the fashion industry like Lady Gaga and Rita Ora. The red carpet was a never ending stream of glamorous full length and fabulous outfits as well as a few trouser suits, providing a lot of inspiration for outfits to make us all stand out and look gorgeous during the Christmas party season. These are my personal favourites:
(1) Lady Gaga
Since recording an album with jazz singe Tony Bennet, Lady Gaga has gone all chic and classy. I loved her chic red maxi dress, which reminded me of the Little Mistress embellished maxi dress, with it’s lace top. Fishnet gloves optional!
(2) Jourdan Dunn
Jourdan won Best British model and you can see why as she looked so elegant in her black and white maxi dress. The fact that the shape is simple but the monochrome colour is striking is a genius way of attracting attention, without it looking like you’ve tried too hard.
(3) Victoria Beckham
Sometimes a trouser suit is more fierce than the boldest of dresses, plus they’re a lot more comfortable if you plan to party all night. VB’s look reminds me of the V by Very cotton sateen chinos and the South mix and match jacket.
(4) Cheryl Fernandez Versini
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini looked doll look in her girly black maxi dress. I like the colourful embellishment and also the transparent mesh effect. There is a lot of detail in this dress.
(5) Alexa Chung
Alexa also indulged her feminine side in a strapless midi dress. The print was Chinese inspired while the top half was Victorian. Mixing styles and colours always catches the eye.
(6) Rosie Huntington Whiteley
I love bit of sparkle and Rosie was a perfect example of that in her silver maxi dress, which is like the Little Mistress grey deep v front maxi dress. If you can’t shine at Christmas time, when can you?
(7) Karlie Kloss
Karlie also wore one of my favourite Christmas colours – gold. A gold maxi dress always looks better with a bit of a tan, and it will stand out among all those who are wearing black.
(8) Lily Allen
The fabric of Lily Allen’s dress was so gorgeous, I almost didn’t notice that she’d dyed her hair blue. The colours and embellisment are very similar to the Little Mistress one shoulder embellished maxi dress at Very,
(9) FKA Twigs
FKA Twigs is never conventional and at first I thought she was wearing a black satin maxi dress, until I looked closer and realised it was also trousers. It’s hard to copy this look, but it shows if you have an individual style in mind and you wear it with attitude, you’ll have everyone wishing they were as cool as you.
(10) Karl Lagerfeld
