Awards seasons has come to a spectacular climax with the biggest event of them all – The Oscars! The celebrities spend all month preparing for the night and they didn’t disappoint as there were tons of spectacular dresses.
I was happy to see that British star Kate Winslet and Daisy Ridley dressed just as well – if not better – than their US colleagues. And let’s not forget the British Award winners with Sam Smith winning for his Spectre song, Mark Rylance winning Best Supporting Actor and Amy winning Best Documentary.
Let’s start with the fashion winners and then have a closer look at who won what:
This red dress is my favourite dress of the night as it’s so elegant. I love the plunging neckline and the long train – it’s so feminine and gives her a gorgeous, sleek hourglass silhouette. What do you think?
Green is a hard colour to wear, but there seemed to be a lot of green dresses on the red carpet this year and Cate wore one of the best. The mint green shade really suits her pale skin tone and the embellishment really catches the eye.
There are black dresses and then there are black dresses with embellishment. I love the feathers on the skirt of Jennifer’s dress. She may not have won this year but I think this is her most fabulous ever outfit.
Kate went for a different look to her usual style in this strapless maxi dress but I think it suits her. I love the material of this slinky maxi dress, which fits her like a second skin. Well done to Kate for looking gorgeous on behalf of Brits everywhere.
Another green dress but Saoirse wore hers dark and sparkly. Sequins were also a big trend and Saoirse looked radiant as she walked the red carpet and gave interviews about Brooklyn, the film she was nominated for. She lost out to Brie Larson, but she can hold her head high when it comes to fashion.
Brie won Best Actress for her role in psychological thriller The Room and she looked world’s apart from her character in the movie as she collected the Oscars statue. The bright blue maxi dress was a simple style compared to some of the other dresses but the colour makes her get noticed. I love it!
Actress Jennifer Garner looked chic and sophisticated in a black maxi dress. A black dress works by giving a delayed reaction. People may not notice you at first, compared to those wearing green dresses and red dresses but once they see how gorgeous the cut and ruffles are, they’ll look at you for longer.
Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley presented an award and looked stunning in a silver dress. I can’t wait to see what this British actress does next – she has a long career ahead of her.
Margot was a vision in a gold dress. There’s always one gold dress at The Oscars and Margot looked like an old school Hollywood starlet in hers with the long sleeves and plunging neckline. Gold is also great when it comes to complementing skin tone.
Naomi also combined two of the night’s biggest trends with green and sequins. Her strapless maxi dress really stood out on the red carpet and it’s admirable she has the attitude and confidence to pull this off. Be as bold as you want as long as you have confidence!
