The National TV Awards (NTAs) is the first big outing of the year for many celebs. The awards, which are presented by the lovable Dermot O’Leary, take place at the O2 Arena in London and the 20,000 capacity venue is filled with famous faces from soap, drama and entertainment. Think of your favourite TV show and there’s a good chance that it’s stars were there, watching the awards and partying afterwards!
As it’s like The Oscars of the British TV industry, all the celebs wore bold and eye-catching maxi dresses as they knew that millions of eyes would be on them walking the red carpet. Wearing the right dress could be a career-defining moment for some celebrities as it could get them in the public eye so they get considered for more roles. These 10 celebs pulled it off better than the rest, nailing the Black Tie dress code with stunning results:
(1) Faye Brooks
The Coronation Street actress won an award for Best Newcomer and her dress deserved an award of its own for being so gorgeous. Black and gold is always a classic combination and what’s really beautiful about it is that it hugged her figure at the top half and then flared out into a full skirt, which made her look super slim. The mesh material is also a bit different and flowed out as she moved, making everyone stop and stare. Watch out for big things to come for this beautiful star!
(2) Holly Willoughby
Holly was part of the award-winning This Morning team and she looked sweet and feminine at the start of the night in a pink maxi dress. The light pink colour compliments her blonde hair beautifully and the cinched in waist highlights the difference between her bust and waist – she has a gorgeous hourglass shape that she’s quite rightly proud of. After they’d won the award, Holly partied until 4am so she’s really not that innocent but this dress does make her look it. So if you want to behave badly, wear a pretty dress and you might get away with it!
(3) Caroline Flack
The TV presenter looked stunning in a strapless red dress. We’re used to seeing her in jumpsuits and shorts, but when she wears a dress she looks stunning. She should wear them more often, particularly if it shows off her athletic arms and upper body like this one. Caroline must have been hitting the gym recently and she’s found a dress that shows that off.
(4) Michelle Keegan
It’s the first time Michelle’s walked the NTAs red carpet in her own right rather than being part of Coronation Street so she dressed a bit differently than usual. In Corrie, she used to regularly win Sexiest Soap Actress and she dressed to embrace that with bodycon dresses and figure-hugging jumpsuits. Now she’s trying to be a more serious actress, she wore a loose white maxi dress and looks delicate and elegant. What do you think?
(5) Tess Daly
Tess was part of the award-winning Strictly Come Dancing team and was one of the first on stage to collect the award. When you wear a jumpsuit, you can really move! So if you want to hit the dancefloor or walk around chatting to all your friends, consider wearing a jumpsuit.
(6) Kym Marsh
The Coronation Street actress has had a devastating storyline recently, but she shrugged that off and shone in a gold and white dress. White and gold go together just as well as black and gold with the added bonus that it gives you more of a golden glow as white lifts the skin tone. The gold highlights in her hair add to the beautifully bronzed effect even more.
(7) Jorgie Porter
The Hollyoaks actress looked like an Oscars movie star in her cream maxi dress, with an extravagant curly hair up-do. She shows off her toned arms and a hint of side boob, keeping everything else covered and yet she manages to grab everyone’s attention. Cream is also a good colour to turn heads being easier to wear than white but equally eye-catching.
(8) Stacy Soloman
Wow! Stacey Solomon speaks her mind on Loose Women and she wears what she wants on the red carpet. This red maxi dress is bold and it’s daring and Stacey knows that as she poses with attitude with a hand on her hip, stroking those sequins. The touch of red lipstick tops off the look perfectly!
(9) Ola Jordan
The Strictly Come Dancing star walked the red carpet without her husband James Jordan but she didn’t need him as she had enough star presence in that bold blue maxi dress. The fishtail train of the dress highlights her slim physique while the colour makes everyone stop and look twice. An electric blue like this suits brunettes as well as blondes – it’s surprisingly flattering.
(10) Vicky Pattison
Although the TV presenter wore a black dress, she made great use of accessories with blue earrings and a blue bracelet. Also, the dress hugs her figure so much, perfectly complimenting her bust and bum that the colour is irrelevant because the shape of the dress is what makes it – and her – beautiful.
Which dress – or jumpsuit – do you like the most? It’s lovely to see a bit of colour on the red carpet – from light pinks to scarlet reds to bright blues, colour makes a formal outfit a lot more fabulous.
